Day 3 - Red (Celebration; Protection from evil; Power & Passion)
The day of their mating ceremony was one Kagome would never forget. When they had first spoken of binding their lives together and the mating ceremony itself, Kagome worried about many things - memorizing the traditions, the procedures, their safety against any who opposed a human/demon mating. Sesshoumaru had reassured her that it was much simpler than that. As he had no official court, their ceremony would take place in the grove of one of the oldest demons in the west, the very demon that had performed the ceremony for his sire and those several ge-nerations before him.
Sesshoumaru had spared no expense for Kagome's ceremonial garb. Her kimono consisted of several layers of different shades of red with silver, gold, and white embroidery - red because of her passionate nature and heart, according to Sesshoumaru. The silver and gold represented him joining with her for such reasons. She represented love, passion, life. Kagome was flattered to have such descriptions attached to her and when she looked at her own mate, she felt the same.
Sesshoumaru was dressed in an outfit of the same style he normally wore but where the fabric was white, on this outfit it was the blue of the moon that adorned his forehead with white sleeves. She couldn't stop staring at the gorgeous sight he made walking toward her.
Bokuseno's glade had been decorated with flowers and vining plants that made the area feel secluded and sacred. Her friends accompanied them to the ceremony and the only dry eyes in the grove were golden ones that outshone the sun in their brilliance.
Sesshoumaru was happy. He was proud to have this woman at his side and he did not hide it on his face or in his heart. Once their vows had been spoken and the binding took place, he leaned in for a light kiss, not wanting to tempt himself too much. There was still a shared meal among those she called family in this era that they had to sit through afterwareds. Clawed hands slid through the loose strands of hair that framed Kagome's face and he slid his fingers over the jeweled combs in her hair.
"Never, have I seen a more entrancing vision than that of my mate, standing before me." He placed another gentle kiss on her lips. "Red is very becoming on you, little mate."
Kagome had a completely different opinion on the matter scant hours later as they lay in their marriage bed, salaciously satisfied. Sesshoumaru had said that she looked very becoming in the red of her kimono but it was nowhere as becoming as the blushes that had spread over Sesshoumaru's body as she explored him.
The poor dog demon had been expecting a shy, virginal mate. Instead, he got every ounce of future-girl knowledge and brazenness, along with a side order of shameless curiosity. His ears turned the most delicious pink when she lightly bit them and tugged. The way his blush sank down his neck and into his chest as she traced the flush with lips and teeth had her giddy with power.
The shiver that rocked him as she took him into her mouth and his full-body flush was something Kagome promised herself in that very moment that she would make sure happened a lot in their future together. Every mark, every hickey, every area of irritated skin from teeth marks and fingernail scratches - all differing shades of red that she would mark her mate with whenever they were together like this were testaments to the passion between them. It was only a pity that his demon healing would remove all traces. More reason to keep covering him in those marks, she supposed.
Yes, red was a very becoming color on her mate.
