Hermione had always been the best at everything school related, but right now, she felt like she was drowning in it all. She was sitting amongst every wizard book she owned, vigorously working on whatever subject was in front of her until it was finished. Her hand was red and sore from a spell gone wrong that had burned her and she was in the middle of her writing her most recent Potions Essay when Harry and Ron past her.
"Are you okay, Hermione?" Ron asked
"What?" she asked, looking up from her scroll, where Ron was hovering over her.
"My god, Hermione, how much work do you have?" Harry asked her, his concern visible.
"Well," she said, "I have homework from every class, and the OWLs are coming up, I only have another month to study, and with the DA, I don't know how much time I'll get in."
"Hermione, take a break, you deserve it. All you've done is work hard this year," Ron said, "Harry and I are going to go for a walk, do you want to come?"
"I'm fine right here," she said.
"Are you sure?" Harry asked, "You really look like you could use the fresh air."
"You two aren't going to leave until I agree to go with you aren't you?" she asked.
"Nope," they said in unison.
"Fine," she agreed, "I'll go, but only if it's a short walk. I've barely started on my potions essay."
"Neither have I," Ron said.
They walked out of the Gryffindor Common Room that was clad in red and gold, laughing hand in hand. The whole scene reminded her of Dorothy and her friends walking down the Yellow Brick Road, but she knew Ron probably wouldn't have the faintest idea of what in the world the Wizard of Oz was.
