The Most in a Month Competition Part II

Harry was walking down a corridor and as he passed by a potted plant, a hand reached for him and grabbed him, pulling him into a hidden alcove.

He struggled briefly. After having a megalomaniac after him for years, it was hard to let old habits die. He relaxed when his gaze met familiar eyes. "Luna? Are you okay?"

Luna looked into his eyes. "I'm scared."

Harry blinked. That was a bit random. "Okay, what are you scared of?" he hesitantly asked.

Of course he didn't want Luna to be scared of anything, but he didn't understand why she was coming to him with the information. They were friends, he supposed, but she was closer to Ginny than him. Shouldn't Ginny be helping Luna overcome her fear?

Luna rolled her eyes. "Harry, your obliviousness is kind of adorable, but it can also be quite frustrating."

"I don't get it." And Harry felt as if that was the understatement of the century.

"I'm scared that you're going to push me away when I do this."

"Do what?" Harry dumbly asked.

"This," Luna said, and then she grabbed his neck and pulled his head down so their lips met in a fierce kiss.

Harry gasped in surprise, but he closed his eyes as a feeling of goodness almost overwhelmed him.

The kiss softened, and Luna's lips moved over his, eliciting shivers up and down Harry's spine.

When their lips separated, they rested their foreheads against each other, and all Harry could think to utter was, "Wow."

Luna smiled softly. "I wanted to do that since you took me to Slughorn's party."

"Why didn't you?" Harry quietly asked, their lips almost touching.

"You seemed more interested in Ginny then me. But then the war ended, and all of us came back to finish our education, and you didn't seem to pay as much attention to Ginny. I thought I should take my chance until another girl: a prettier, smarter, more normal girl caught your eye.

Harry pulled back and frowned. "First of all, you're very pretty and smart. And yes, you might be a bit unique, but who ever said I wanted normal? Normal is born."

"So, you're not disgusted by the idea of kissing me?" Luna asked.

Harry opened his mouth to reply but didn't say anything when a sound caught his attention. "Quick, someone's coming. Act natural!"

"We're pressed together in an alcove? How can we possibly act natural?" Luna asked.

"Um..." Harry couldn't think of anything to say.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Hermione asked with a surprised glint in her eyes.

Harry and Luna blushed, but they knew there was no explanation to give, other than the truth.
