Brother...
That brought so many emotions to her mind. So many thoughts. The extremes of emotions entered her mind.
Love
She loved her brother. He was brave, protective, and kind towards her. He was her guardian for a long time. He was a wonderful leader; a wonderful 'person'; and most of all, to her, a wonderful brother.
Hate
She hated him for nearly the same reasons she loved him. Because he was so brave, he was always endangering himself, and making her constantly worry. His protectiveness for her was reassuring, but he could be overprotective at times; he also would endanger himself for her, but she would never want him to be hurt for her sake. His kindness was misplaced, she felt. Surely there were others that deserved his kindness more than her. She was insignificant...she couldn't even help him when he needed it. Now, he was dead...because she couldn't help him, because he was so brave, because he tried to protect her so...
Zero...
Her body trembled at his name, her extreme emotions far, far more heavy over the red armored warrior. How could she possibly love the one who killed her brother...? The one who shattered their dream...? Why did she want to stand by his side so badly?
Love
She loved him. She loved him in a far stronger sense than a 'sister's love'. She loved the way Zero bravely dared to oppose any threat without fear or hesitation. She loved the way that he could be more ferocious than the mightiest creature that ever lived, and yet could be more tender to her than the gentle touch of the wind. She did not fear his strength as others did, for she knew that inside, he was gentle, and would never want to fight without reason...and yet...
Hate
How could her hatred run so deep at the same time her love ran so far? He had murdered her brother, she knew he had. Zero had become too strong for her brother to defeat. She was unable to convince Zero to stop...and her brother died at his hand. That was the root of the hatred that ran through her so violently, spreading like an inferno. Why did he have to do it? Why did Zero have to shatter their dream? Why must they live in a world with humans? Did Zero not see the beauty of the vision her brother had?
This thought in mind, she stiffened her resolve. She would fight for her brother's dream that she had been to weak to stand for. She would not let Zero have his way, even if it meant that she was to live a tortured existance, even if she had to kill the one she loved, she would keep her brother's dream alive. She would not abandon her brother any more. She had been with Zero the entire time, trying to stop him. But her words were not strong enough. Now, she would be forced to fight in her brother's place. Fight the one she loved in order to live with what she felt was just...
"Forgive me, Zero..." A tear ran down Iris' cheek, "Forgive me..."
Author's notes: Well, what did you think? I know, they're 'robots', right? Well, in the game they are portrayed to have emotions just like any human, so I decided to stick strictly to that as I wrote this reflective piece. I hope I got Iris' character right. Please review if you have time! Thanks!
