Chapter 7: Rebellion
Disclaimer: I own nothing
A/N: Thanks for the reviews, follows and faves! Damn that really went up over the weekend huh? Let's get to the reviews.
AscendedHumanity: Thanks. I noticed not many actually do these stories from the POV of the Fallen. Hopefully you'll enjoy what I have in mind.
Gerden360: Thanks! And yeah, I have no plans to stop updating for this. Shit I had like NO REM sleep all weekend because I was thinking about the story so much.
plums: You're quickly becoming my favorite reviewer with all these questions. Though many of those ARE gonna be covered in the upcoming chapters. One I can answer is that she won't go blind from the mangekyo. As the voice said before in the first chapter, any restrictions for bloodline progression are lifted. It'd stunt if not hinder her growth if she used her mangekyo powers a bit too much and went blind for it.
That brings me to these two questions. Do you guys want to add an OC of yours to the story during the Civil war arc? If so, PM me every possible detail you can about them and what kinda relationship they'd have with Kala and what drives them. They'd have to fit the DxDverse too. I think it'd be cool to see what ideas you have. You'll of course be credited too. Next up, I have a vague idea what her mangekyo abilities would be but feel free to PM me about ideas you have and I might use them if they're not absurd like stopping time.. Extra points if the idea is linked to a Shinto god or myth.
RaiKiri: Thanks! Glad you enjoy the chapters.
A guest mentioned my reference to the look of her hair during the description of Kala. While normally I'd agree that it should be put after the chapters, the fact is that this is a Fanfiction. You can get away with a degree of "Unprofessionalism" in it. Kinda like those manga speech bubbles with the smaller texts in the bottom. They usually reference something too and manga is way more professional.
-[Enoch's lament, Grigori facility]-
Raynare had spent the past four days with Kalawarner getting accustomed to the new facility. She had taken upon herself to be Kalawarner's second in command. She thought it was nice. She and Kalawarner had gotten two underlings by the name of Dohnaseek and Mittlet. The male, Dohnaseek was a quiet and gruff man that seemed hard to get along with. That is, until Kalawarner had discovered his love for booze. They spent the second night they met sharing a bottle of whiskey and talking about women and what types they preferred. Dohnaseek had a thing for very dominant women that were taller than himself. He was a tall Fallen though, height exactly six feet tall. He wore a full set of silver and black Knight's armor. Then there was the small and mischievous Mittlet. Raynare thought she was rather annoying. Mainly due to the fact that she would latch on to Kalawarner like a kid would to her big sister. That wasn't what had annoyed Raynare, however. What had, was the fact that the Loli Fallen had a smitten look in her eyes whenever she was in front of Kalawarner. She would always cling on to her and stick her tongue out at Raynare, much to her increasing annoyance.
As for Kalawarner, Raynare had to admit that she was getting more and more attractive by the day. It didn't help that she had shared the room with her either, as whenever Kalawarner had come out of a shower, Raynare took notice of how the towel hugged her very curvaceous crush. That look, combined with the leftover water still clinging on to her had made Raynare's nose bleed numerous times, though she hid it from her friend as she didn't want to weird her out. She felt she might have already with the spontaneous kiss back at Denric Castle. So she's kept her distance ever since then but would stare a little too long at Kalawarner at times when she thought she wouldn't notice. The stares increased after Kalawarner got the equipment she requested from Azazel had come in on the second day. Kalawarner was covered in a black form fitting combat bodysuit, a grey hooded cloak, slim silver gauntlets and greaves that weren't too bulky and a completely white mask that had wide eye holes that drew the gaze of anyone to them, being the most prominent feature to the mask.
Raynare herself had gotten the same kind of outfit but Kalawarner insisted on her having a white cloak and not wearing her mask. She said it was only for the battlefield and that she wanted to see Raynare's beautiful face. That had earned her a large blush and made her incredibly happy. Aside from the equipment, Kalawarner had gotten two, one-time use Sacred Gears. One being Sword birth, which would last only five minutes before breaking and Absorption line, which was copied off the newly sealed Dragon that God had sealed, named Vritra. Though it was just one piece of Vritra. God had to split him up numerous times to avoid making a Longinus, which would heavily drain him during the War.
At that very moment, Raynare was laying in her bed, thinking on the events during the past month. Mostly everything concerning her new crush and how to proceed, knowing she held some already deep affections for her. She had previously had a crush on Azazel, the one to take her in after her fall. That had changed recently due to Kalawarner. She had been getting close to her ever since she passed out during the meeting. Kalawarner even prepared to give up being mentored by Azazel himself because she knew about Raynare's obsession with power. She felt Kalawarner understood her and didn't judge her for that. She had been looked down upon by a few of her fellow Angels back when she was in Heaven when they found out about her desire. They said she should be happy where she is and even though none of the Fallen had stated the same way, she had a feeling many of them thought that way too. Kalawarner had understood and shared that sentiment. Though not for selfish reasons such as being strong enough to trample on others. Raynare felt she and Kalawarner were kindred spirits. As her thoughts turned to Kalawarner again she sighed and buried her face in her pillow.
'I didn't think I'd be switching from Azazel to.. Well, a girl. I always kind of thought Kalawarner was stiff and serious and.. kind of a bitch before that day. Ugh.. I wish I could have met her sooner' Raynare thought as she imagined the figure of Kalawarner in her mind, legs shifting as her mind went in a certain direction.
"Nnh.." 'I haven't felt this level of lust before.. Ugh! I was supposed to have fallen due to Ira.. not Superbia.. But the image of her butt in that new suit is just..' Biting her pillow, Raynare found her hand slip down her body subconsciously as her thoughts went even further, vividly imagining her partner in some pretty compromising positions. What she hadn't noticed was that Kalawarner had walked in and was staring wide eyed at her back.
'Is she… masturbating? Ohhhohoh… I'm tempted to watch but that'd get her mad at me.. Got it. Flirty option is a go' Kalawarner thought as she quietly walked over to her partner and had quickly got on her back and wrapped her in an embrace, softly nibbling her ear.
"AAaaaaaaaahhh! K-Kala!? What are you doing!? Khhn… Stop.. my ear's ticklish.." Raynare said, keeping her voice down while hiding her face in her pillow out of embarrassment.
"Sorry, you were wide open, making cute noises and doing something deliciously inappropriate while your Commander was present. Way I figure it, I had a few options available. All of which are damn fun in their own way too" Kalawarner said while keeping her arms around her partner as Raynare made a lust-filled smile at Kalawarner's chest pressed into her back.
'I need to calm down before I try to jump her… Ask a question! Change topic!' Raynare cleared her throat before speaking.
"Kala..? Um.. why did you help me? I mean with training and.. stuff? You even gave away that position.. just for me. Why?" Raynare asked, her heart beating fast as Kala sat her on her lap, still embracing her from beside as she rested her head on Raynare's shoulder.
"I saw your desire for power. It was like.. desperately wanting to live. To get back something you lost? Or to *not* lose something. Yeah.. it was a feeling I knew all to well. I think it was that you reminded me so much of myself. I didn't want to see my new friend experience the agony and wrath I felt when my friends died. To.. desperately preserve your bonds in fear of being alone, with nobody to give a shit about you anymore. To be the one alive.. even though you know you're weaker than they were. It's something that happened to me. I'd hate to think it happened to you, Ray" Kalawarner said while looking at Raynare's hands, running hers over them.
Raynare's eyes widened in shock as she heard a familiar story to hers be told by her Partner. Wiping her eyes from the built up tears she had when Kalawarner told her story. She decided now was the time to tell her why she had fallen. Hoping Kalawarner would understand and accept her feelings, she took a deep breath and began.
"I need to tell you why I fell, Kala. Please listen, okay?" Raynare said while Kalawarner simply nodded.
"Back in Heaven I had a.. role model and crush on a ten-winged Angel. His name was Remael and he treated me like.. Like I wasn't just a foot soldier. He actually cared and cherished me. Though we got together after four months, we kept our bodies *pure* so we wouldn't be found out and fall. One day, God sent him and a detachment of lower tiered Angels to make sure Devils weren't operating in Germany. They… came back without him.. Only a few had survived.. They were sent back as a message. See, they were sent out on a suicide mission into Mephistopheles' territory. Remael was supposed to talk to Faust.. to convince him not to fall for the Devil's promises of immortality. Mephistopheles killed him.. And the top Angels.. they knew he would be killed if they sent him on such a stupid mission! I.. I raged when I heard the news.. They all judged me for my show of Ira and envy.. I wanted to be strong like him so I wouldn't.." Raynare had been cut off by Kalawarner, who took a tone of understanding.
"Lose him? That bond was important to you.. Psh.. what hypocrites.. Love can easily turn into hate if you lose it" Kalawarner said, nodding on Raynare's shoulder.
"I.. understand you, Ray. I just didn't know how much until now.. I know that kind of anger and envy well. I've felt them to a pretty extreme degree too." Kalawarner sighed as Ray turned to her and cupped her face, staring into her gold eyes.
"I knew you would.. I.. love you, Kala. We were cut off back at Denric but.. I love you. Would you tell me how you lost the ones you cared for too? Please, Kala? I want to know you more but it feels like there's a wall in the way.." Raynare said before burying her face in Kalawarner's shoulder.
"I said any relationship would have to wait until after the War but.. well... I love you too, Ray. I'll tell you my everything now, okay? It'll be shocking but I ask you don't interrupt. If you still love me after I tell you everything, I'll give you my all.. Okay?" Raynare nodded and listened as she listened.
Kalawarner had started to retell Jack Haille's death and life in the Military. She started by telling her about how all the friends he made in his Company had died due to the incompetence of her superiors back in the Military. That she had gone through so much with them in three years and it ended with a broken man when Jack Haille had gotten discharged who had a seriously hard time readjusting with basically no help at all. That he had encountered robbers and had been killed in the convenience store, much to her embarrassment. Finally, she finished when she retold her how she had been reincarnated as Kalawarner and first woke up back in Grigori HQ.
This left Raynare stunned for the better part of five minutes as she considered the implications of a human resurrecting as a Fallen. She didn't find it that hard to accept though, as she had been rather strange. In both the way she treated people, her philosophy, talk of being no better than humans and her rather special eyes she said had come from a Bloodline she knew of but being oddly embarrassed to speak of where it had come from.
"So.. you were a guy..? Well, not like it matters now.. It doesn't change anything anyway.. It's you I fell for, Jack." Raynare had said while planting a kiss on Kalawarner's lips, which was reciprocated but even more intensely. Their tongues pushing and giving way to each other and their lips tightly pressed as if they feared they wouldn't show the other how much they meant to the other if they pulled back. After a minute they separated, a soft smile on Kalawarner's face.
"Thank you.. I was kinda worried back there you know? Afraid to be rejected I guess. Well.. I have nothin' to hide from you now, Ray. Oh, and just call me Kala. Feels weird to be called my guy name now." Kalawarner said while stroking Raynare's black locks.
Raynare smiled, which turned devious as she pushed Kalawarner down on her bed and mounted, both hands trailing up Kalawarner's generous bust.
"So.. you're still pure then hmm? Bet you've been taking advantage of having such a sexy female body, am I right?" Raynare's eyes looked predatory and hungry as she licked her lips which caused Kalawarner to shiver a bit.
"It's a perfectly normal thing to do.. And.. uh.. while I'd love nothing more than this.. Really, I would love to. This.. ughhh… has to wait until the War is finished" Kalawarner said while containing all the funny feelings of seeing Raynare take charge and straddle her.
"Awww…. Fine.. It's only a few weeks anyway. But kissing and groping is allowed. How else could I last until then? You awakened something in me, Kala… When the war's finished, I'll show you all the nooks and crannies where a girl feels good. Got that?" Raynare said while licking Kalawarner's cheek and getting off the bed.
'Do not give in… DO NOT GIVE IN.. It'll be so worth it when it's over… Stay firm.. Yeah, firm.. Like Raynare's ass-FUCK I need a cold shower' Kalawarner got up too but Raynare, knowing what she'd do, decided to strip right there and go take a shower, likely as a slight punishment for denying her.
Sighing in defeat, Kalawarner decided to go to the training yard to get her mind off her new Lover. She had taken to training with her strengthened body by doing the training the Navy Seals did back in her original world. She had to push herself to her limits and come up with a plan to completely outclass Numiel in her surprise appearance when he attacks the Devil encampment not too far from here. She needed to put on a show of defeating him, to really drive home her idea of going against God, which not even the Fallen had totally done. This act of defiance should further boost her impression towards the younger Devils and the newer generations to come. She knows it will all come to a head through Sirzechs, who she will ally herself with when the Devil Civil War begins after the conclusion of the Great War. So she trained and planned, for the beginning sparks of Rebellion.
-[Days later, Enoch's Lament/Devil's Encampment]-
Everything was going poorly for Rivelle Phenex. Her and several other Pillar heirs were supposed to create an encampment here, for the higher ups in Devil Command to take over and launch serious attacks on the Fallen and Heaven's forces. Yet as soon as she started to set up a proper camp, numerous raids by Fallen and Angels had forced her to focus manpower defending the not yet finished Encampment. Days like these made her wish she was still back home, even though back home her Father had forced her to marry her third cousin Ruhal Phenex so that they will run the Phenex Pillar and keep the bloodline pure. She hadn't cared for that all too much. She would just bear it and have some children with the overly-prideful idiot-cousin. Though she had been assured that as long as she stayed married to him and bore children, she could take any lover in secret she wanted. The prospect was amusing to her, cucking her husband brought a strange warmth to her that she quickly suppressed whenever it came up. She hadn't considered many people to actually court in secret from the Devils of the seventy-two Pillars. They'd need to show a myriad of prized traits for her to be interested. She had thought it wasn't meant to be then. Her expectations would not be met by any modern Devil. She would have to look to the future for such prospects.
Back to her bad day. She was currently returning from her duty, operating as Commander to a Battalion of lower class Devils that all feared her for her status. Upon pondering how to bridge the gap between her and her fellow Pillar Heirs and the lower class, she saw an explosion on the other side of the Encampment and a Middle-class Knight running to her.
"Lady Phenex! The Angels are attacking us! They're hitting us from the Mountain Range to the East… They appear to have come out of caves up in the cliff faces" The Knight relayed as Rivelle bit her thumb nail in anxiety.
"I thought we confirmed there were no enemies hiding in the damned mountain ranges!" She yelled out as she saw the mass of white wings overrun the camp.
Sighing out in despair, she knew the sneak attack would very likely completely overwhelm them. That they were all likely to be killed here. She took up her Gold tinted rapier and spread her wings, flying towards the brunt of the Angels with the reporting Knight and a contingency of soldiers.
"We think we may have traitors, my Lady.. They likely collaborated with the Angels." The Knight said calmly.
'Traitors..? Idiots! We'll be killed if they win on their terms..' Thinking on it, Rivelle flew towards the Angels and prepared to battle, only to be hit in the back and sent plummeting to the ground, before a calmly smiling Angel with hands behind his back, waiting there as Rivelle slowly looked behind her, seeing the Knight and Soldiers kneeling before the Angel as he spoke up.
"Very good. Thanks to your help, we can wrap this up fast and kill the Fallen even faster.. As promised, I will spare your lives." The Angel said, waving the Devils off with a smile.
"I'm sorry my Lady… I have siblings to return to. I cannot die here for the higher ups who don't give a damn about us.." The Knight said as he turned away with the guilty Soldiers.
Rivelle nodded sadly to them, as she understood the lower class Devils really didn't want to fight in this war.
"It's fine.. I don't blame you.. Go, save yourselves" Rivelle said while the Encampment came down around her.
It was then, while the Knight and lower class Devils had turned away and started to leave did the Angel signal his forces. A bright storm of Holy spears had rained down on the Devils by the thousands, killing them all fast as they ripped and tore their bodies to pieces under the Holy light. Rivelle gasped in horror as the Angel simply hummed in amusement.
"I told them *I*wouldn't kill them. I said nothing about my men, did I?" The Angel said with the same amicable smile as always.
"You bastard… That isn't FAIR!" Rivelle roared out, flames flickering off her as the Angel readied a spear of Holy flames, poised to strike her heart.
"All is fair in war, Devil scum" The Angel thrusted his spear but was greatly confused as the Devil disappeared, his arm encased in a strange wire.
"Did anyone ask for a Dramatic entrance, just in the nick of time?" Asked the jubilant voice of Kalawarner, wearing her full combat gear and mask, holding Rivelle Phenex while standing twelve feet from the now angered Angel.
"Ohh Numiel you stupid bastard… You done fucked up now, you know? Weird for the *Angel* to look like a villain, bullying the gorgeous Heroine huh? This is the guy representing Angels? I'd laugh if it wasn't so pathetic.." Kalawarner shook her head as Numiel scowled, tearing the line off when she finished talking to him, noticing the dip in his energy.
"Time to finish what I started back in Denric Castle.. NOBODY interfere!" Numiel said with a hateful scowl.
"Still letting that Pride get to you eh? A role model for all Angels, truly!" Kalawarner said while setting the recovering Rivelle to the side. All the Angel soldiers looked conflicted at Numiel's display, but he hadn't noticed. He was too busy staring at the activated eyes of his enemy.
"Enough.. Any last words, Fallen stain?" Numiel asked, poised to fight.
"Just this" Kalawarner said in an arrogant, mocking tone, pulling out a line she'd been saving for just such an occasion.
"Oh? You're approaching me?"
