Chapter 8: An unexpected occurrence

Disclaimer: Apparently I don't need to put this here!

Plums: Yeah so I'm basing the whole Angels falling thing off a system that God as the administrator runs. When he dies, it'll be switched over to Michael and since he'll definitely have a lot on his plate just managing the entire system, he'll put the whole thing on auto. So if an Angel delves too deep into these negative feelings they will fall.

RaiKiri: Thanks for the idea. I'm picturing a lazy and sarcastic tactician from your guy. I'll let you all know who I choose at Chapter 10.

Fight scene ahoy! Also, fun fact-I write all this at work. I work from 12pm to 8am and usually finish around 5-6.

The fight had begun, the Devils and Angels bore witness to Numiel's furious swinging, trying to lop off the head of his Fallen adversary. What frustrated him to no end was that she had read all of his attacks like a book. Though they were powerful and would likely severely injure her if they hit her, she dodged and ducked them all, countering with a decent sized combat knife made out of her silver-colored holy energy. Wielding a weapon she was familiar with in her past life, she slipped past his guard and made a shallow cut on his neck, drawing first blood, much to the anger of the angel.

Having enough of being on the ground, Numiel took to the skies and had fired numerous wisps of Holy flames at his hated enemy. Kala, seeing him use the same strategy he used in Denric, took off after him and flew in an unpredictable fashion, now molding the imitation Gae-Bolg in her other hand, she looked him square in the eyes and threw the knife at him. Seeing the trajectory of the knife being a little off, Numiel took the chance to fly straight at her with his spear wound back to strike him. What he didn't expect, was the surprise pain of the combat knife cutting his left eye. He stopped upon feeling the agony coming from his left eye, noticing the knife had been spot on, despite seeing otherwise. He had no time to really think about what happened as Kalawarner hit him with a left cross, straight into his solar plexus, driving the wind out of him and making him hunch over. The next thing he knew, she had gotten behind him and grappled him from behind, flying backwards, straight into the ground near Rivelle and the other Angels in a German suplex. The Angels winced upon seeing his head smash into the ground with his legs sticking up.

Kalawarner got up and started to absolutely beat on Numiel, raining punches on his face while he was still wounded. A few teeth had been knocked out due to her strength, ruining Numiel's handsome appearance as bumps and bruises littered his face. It didn't last long though, Kalawarner jumped off upon feeling the increase in heat. Numiel had surrounded himself in flames and picked himself up, seething with hate and anger towards Kalawarner. He was almost frothing at the mouth when he finally stood on his two feet and looked at the nonchalant figure of Kalawarner.

"Never seen somebody so damned angry before, Num-nuts. I even see a vein in your forehead straining.. Hehe. Careful you don't fall to Ira. Be a real shame, that. Bet you're wondering how you aren't beating my four-winged ass. Am I right? I'll answer while you catch your breath. You've got the strength of a six-winged Angel. You've got the gift of Holy flames. But you're just so…. Unimaginative with them. You've been given a multi-tool and you keep using it like a hammer. What I used, I picked up from humans. Yeah, they found ways to bridge the gap. Developing fighting skills and tools is their thing and it'll take them far.. Whereas Angels and Devils? You stagnate. The world of man is moving forward, it's something we Fallen, who have lived with and courted Humans have learned to do. Otherwise we'd be dead long ago. Ahh but you aren't gonna listen, you'll spout some prideful nonsense and continue the fight. Bring it then, roasted Dove." Kalawarner prepared her spear, sharingan rotating slowly.

Screaming out in rage, Numiel charged her and swung at her in all of his hate-fueled anger, yet Kalawarner continued to dodge him. She stepped back and turned her shoulder away from a thrust, breaking his nose with a haymaker straight into his face. Following that, she swept him off his feet and stabbed down at him, only to receive a kick to her gut, sending her sliding back. Numiel had gotten back up and spun his flaming spear, making Kalawarner go on the defensive. The heat had managed to nearly set her on fire a few times, it burned spots on her bodysuit and had cauterized whatever shallow cuts he had made. Kalawarner's arms were numb from all the blocking and swinging of the spear. Cutting off the deadlock they were in, she took a thrusting stance, one arm raised back and legs spread apart. She decided now was the time to finish it up. Numiel agreed and put his entire magical power into the spear, which now looked as if it were made of flames.

Both had remained still for five seconds, before they yelled out their battle cries and thrusted their spears at the other's heart. Numiel had been sure of his victory until the image he saw of Kalawarner's attack faded. She was actually a foot to her right, where it had looked like she was at just seconds prior. Numiel's eyes widened and felt the cold sensation of a blade piercing his heart, he looked up in shock, only seeing the passive gaze of his enemy. He saw only her gaze that had locked on him, those eyes. He could barely understand how she did that. His last thoughts before death embraced him were that it was those eyes that caused him to lose.

"He's dead. Your Commander has lost here to me. You Angels may leave before my men come in and surround you. I have no issues with you.. Only the top leaders of Devils and Heaven. Go back and tell God he's a fool for starting this War" Kalawarner said, huffing angrily.

The Angels looked conflicted at her words but did not deny her mercy when their blood thirsty Commander had died. They all started to take off, leaving fast lest they anger the one who spared them. Not even five minutes later, the sight of black feathered wings were seen approaching the almost ruined camp. Raynare, Mittlet and Dohnaseek all flew towards their Commander, who was helping Rivelle Phenex, and her soldiers recover.

"Why are you… helping us? We're enemies in this War. I have nothing against you but the higher ups won't hesitate to-" Rivelle was talking to Kalawarner as she was getting healing ointment applied to her cuts and bruises by the Fallen.

"You're enemies today. The war will end. We'll all be pretty banged up by the end of it. I'm just making future preparations and friends now, you know? Plus I think you're a caring and understanding person, from what I've seen so far. You put your own men above yourself and were down right enraged at their deaths, even after selling you out. It takes a big heart to do that." Kalawarner smiled at the surprised Phenex as she slipped off her mask.

"What do you say? Wanna be friends when this is all over? It's better if we weren't always at each other's throats when the other Pantheons are just waiting for us to fuck up so they can swoop in and mop up the rest of us. I personally would be honored to have you as my first Devil friend, Miss..?" Kalawarner raised her brow at the exaggerated expression of the Devil, who had taken to staring at her face quite intensely, much to Raynare and Mittlet's annoyance.

"Rivelle. Rivelle Phenex. I'm the future Matriarch of the Phenex Pillar.. You must be the *Wings of Rebellion* right?" Seeing Kalawarner smile and nod, she continued.

"I'd love to become friends with my savior.. So long as you don't try to use me to kill off the Devil race that is" Rivelle half joked.

"No no.. I want peace after the War. I think with Devils like you in charge, the Underworld could see a real change in direction. This Aristocracy hierarchy is too overbearing and corrupt." Kalawarner took note of her appearance, finally putting together who she was. She was Rizer and Ravel's Mother. She could recall she had encouraged her daughter to pursue Issei and give him the Phenex tears.

"I'd love to see that but.. Well, maybe.. If more Heirs thought like I did.. If you'd be willing to help, I could talk to some like-minded others" Rivelle looked to the Fallen seriously.

"Of course, just let me know what you need. We'll be on our way now, if that's fine with you. Wouldn't want your superiors to be too suspicious of you now, would we?" Smiling to Rivelle, Kalawarner nodded to the other Fallen and spread her wings.

But in the next moment, an intense light descended upon them all. The Devils all felt weak and had fallen to their knees. The Fallen all feeling the urge to utterly submit and bow before the presence as well. Kalawarner could not fight the urge to sink to her hands and knees, looking up. It was a man in a pure white robe with long white hair and a beard. His eyes were a pure, radiating gentle light. He descended right in front of Kalawarner, causing her to break out in a cold sweat. It was Yahweh.

'I can't… get up… what is this..? He's dominating all of us with just his presence.. Fuck.. Ray.. She's in danger..' Kalawarner started to slowly rise to her feet in front of the overbearing presence.

"She is in no danger, child. I have waited a long time for you.. To tell you things. But right now this knowledge has no use. You are not strong enough just yet. Keep laying your part in the weeks to come. You have a grand role to fill, Jack." Yahweh said while holding his palm out to a shocked Kalawarner.

"How did you-" Kala started but was cut off as a divine light enveloped her.

When Raynare had looked next, she found no trace of Yahweh or her partner. She began to panic and look around. The Fallen with them had all gone silent and looked to each other with uneasy expressions.

"K-Kala..? Kala? Kala!? What did he do to her!? Dohnaseek! Mittlet! Help me look for her! She can't be gone.." Raynare said with dread, tears dripping down her cheeks as Mittlet and Dohnaseek started to help her, trying to avoid panicking too.

Just then, Raynare got a call from Azazel via communication magic. A seal appeared by her ear and the Governor Fallen spoke up to Raynare. After a few panicked minutes, Raynare finally calmed down while talking to Azazel. After a sigh and a nod, she ended the communication magic and turned to the Fallen force Kalawarner was in Command of.

"We're going to return to HQ. The Leaders of each Faction have begun their battles.. It's no place for us to be even remotely near here. Kala's fine.. He said it was teleportation magic" Raynare said, causing the Fallen force to quietly murmur as they spread their wings and took off to the skies before all the suppressed Devils.

"I hope she survives this War.." Rivelle said, standing up and beginning to order her soldiers to pack up and retreat.

-[Unknown cave]-

Opening her eyes, Kalawarner found herself in a massive cave, the ceiling had to be at least five hundred feet above her. That, however was the least of things on the list of things to take notice of. Looking all around her was a sprawling floor of gold, treasures, prized weapons and armor. The gold made large hills all over the cave floor. It made for quite a stash of wealth and it reminded her of a movie she had seen in the past. Turning her head to the right, she saw red. More specifically she saw an enormous red eye the size of her, gazing at her from just three feet away.

"Ohhhhhh….. fuck it's Smaug! Wait, no.." Kalawarner backed up a bit, seeing the giant red dragon that was still gazing at her, smirking.

"Actually, it's Y Draig Goch, Fallen one" Draig said in amusement.

"Fancy name.. Sorry about popping in. That asshat, Yahweh decided to swing by and send me here.. Really, I wouldn't willingly piss you off.. Unless you tried to steal my girl.. Or kill her.. Okay I'd have good reasons to fight you." Kalawarner folded her arms and measured his reaction.

"Hahahahahahahahahaha! Awfully brave of you to say so, Fallen one. Hm.. I have not actually spoke to anyone in Centuries. Too busy fighting the White one.. It's a bit.. refreshing" Draig had said while looking over Kalawarner.

"Oh yeah.. You're the Welsh Dragon. Albion's the Saxon Dragon. Kinda flattering to be the standard symbol for the Welsh, eh? Or do you not care about that?" Kalawarner said as she remembered those Arthurian legends and the Fate series from back in her original world.

"That I am.. I'm surprised. Not many show much interest in me except for the power I wield. To answer your question, I take a small amount of Pride in being such a rallying symbol." He shrugged and lifted his neck up.

"Ahh I don't want your power, relax. Well I need to get back to the War. Though I don't.. see an exit? Where do I get out?" Kalawarner asked while looking at the massive cavern.

"I sealed the place up and poked numerous holes throughout the walls to make small holes. One still needs to breathe, even as a Dragon. Tell you what, Fallen.. I have not had much decent company these past few hundred years and your aura interests me.. I will let you out and grant you a favor if you stay here for five days to converse with me" Draig offered.

"Oho so even Dragons get lonely eh? Wanted some pretty female company? Didn't you get with Tiamat or something? Wonder how she'll take this?" Kalawarner sat down on a hill of gold coins and smirked her toothy grin.

"N..Nughh… We don't need to talk about Tia.." Draig said in slight fear.

"Alright big guy. I got at least a few days. Might have a few stories to make you laugh too." Kalawarner said, looking around at the gold.

"Well let's hear them, Fallen. Don't keep me in suspense"

"WELL it all started one day when my friend, mid shit.. ran out of toilet paper.. in a porta potty….. in a pretty hostile environment. Unfortunately, all he had was sandpaper he'd been using to scrape off the caked on grime off his weapon.." Kalawarner started. Five minutes later the cave rumbled with the sound of a Dragon's laughter.
