Edward-
I saw her the moment she walked in. She was wearing a sexy Little Red Riding Hood costume.
Only that woman could make a childhood fable sexy as fuck. Luckily, I was draped in a heavy black cloak and the effect those stockings were having on me was hidden. My cock throbbed madly, and the gnawing ache in my gut returned with a vengeance.
Tracing the curve of her leg, I withheld a growl when I came to the hem of that bright red skirt. I could kiss my way up that leg, spend the night feasting on the swollen flesh I would find just below those ruffles. Muttering a curse I adjusted my dick and shifted in the corner.
Scanning the room, I found no evidence she'd come here with anyone. It had me curious about the boyfriend.
Was he meeting her here later? Judging by the way she kept looking around the room—searching for me—I highly doubted it.
Why then had she called him directly after our time together in the park? Had she wanted him to come finish the job I started?
All the while on the sidewalk I'd considered going up to her apartment. What would she think if I slid inside a window from the fire escape? Would she become so frightened that I ruined this sweet little dance between us?
Hell, I'd contemplated hemming her up in the alleyway. I would give half my fortune to press her up against a brick wall in a dark corner and fuck us both into oblivion. Just the wicked thought of pinning her beneath me had a delicious chill rippling through me.
I was considering all the ways I could use her beautiful body when some guy wearing The Mask costume dared to touch what was mine. Pushing away from the wall I rested against, I was about to intervene, yet she whirled around and said something. Immediately the guy backed off, but the urge to catch him later boiled in my blood.
Abruptly, she turned on her heel and headed for the bar. The edge of her red cloak fluttered as she once again looked around the room as she waited for her drink. She appeared flustered, a bit impatient as her fingers drummed on the countertop. Her lips were drawn tight, frowning slightly as she took a long gulp of her drink.
Perhaps I'd left her in suspense long enough. Maybe it was time to make my presence known.
With that thought I walked along the back wall, stopping mid-stride when her head tilted in my direction. She paused. Her gaze swept me from hood to hem.
I could tell by the way she shivered she knew it was me. Her eyes brightened and her lips parted in a perfect O. Her eyebrow lifted as she downed the rest of her drink.
Setting the glass aside, she headed for the terrace, and drawn to her like a magnet, I stalked. Predatory aggression took over my better judgment as she led me down a cobblestone path.
Just to get her blood pumping I stepped on a twig before darting off the path. Easily, I rounded on her as she whirled around, looking for me. She muttered an oath as I came up behind her. "Fucker."
I couldn't resist touching her then. Too long. I stayed away too long. So long this craving was eating me alive.
The second my gloved finger slid down her neck to the top of her breast, my eyes rolled as her scent wafted around me. "Who? Me?"
Her lithe form shook as my arm snaked around her waist. She stiffened with the unexpected touch but only for a moment. Then she sort of melted against me, and I heard her swallow, the quiet garden intensifying every sound.
"I was starting to think you weren't coming," she whispered, the sound barely audible over the thundering of blood rushing in my ears.
I caressed the curve of her waist, my fingers drifting just below her breasts. "I told you I would always come. Where's the boyfriend? Did you let him touch what's mine?"
Her stance changed, and she pushed away from me, effectively breaking my hold. She spun around to face me with a glare in her eye. "Is that what you thought? I called Mike over for a quick fuck after the park."
I didn't answer. Suddenly, I felt stupider than ever and thankful for the hood that hid my face. When I remained silent, she stomped her foot to get my attention.
"Well?"
"If not, what was he doing there? I saw you on the phone." She was backing away and on impulse I moved forward, hoping to close the distance starting to stretch between us.
Her lashes dropped and her gaze narrowed. With a fit of temper, she crossed her arms over her chest still edging backward. "I called him to break up with him. I didn't think I should be flirting with my stalker and sleeping with someone else. Apparently, you think that little of me. Can't really blame you, this is all so fucking crazy—I can't believe I'm a part of it."
When she would've turned to leave, I snapped. Grabbing her by the arm, I pulled her beneath a large oak tree and pinned her against the trunk. "You aren't leaving. We're not done."
Bella yanked her arm from my grasp and pushed against my chest. "We're done if I say we are."
I wouldn't hold her against her will. If she wanted to go, she was free to go. My hands fell to my sides, and through the black hood, I watched her intently. "Then go!"
She didn't. Breathing hard, her eyes as wide as saucers, her gaze searching wildly, she whispered, "I don't want to. J-just needed to know it's an option."
