Anonymous asked: "I ran into *that* coworker outside of work.. oh no they are actually nice" if you please! I will appreciate any KC goodness you churn out
Caroline stopped short on the sidewalk, mouth agape. "I don't believe it."
The half-full trash bag swishing about her knees, Rebekah propped a defiant hand on her hip, the other brandishing the short spear used for picking up rubbish along the street. "What, you've never seen a volunteer clean-up before?"
"I've never seen you wearing orange," she clarified, wincing at the reflection coming off the vest in question. "Good for doing your civic duty, though. Court-ordered community service, I assume?"
She scoffed. "For your information, nosy, my brother is a Boy Scout. He asked for my help in earning his public service badge or something like that. Unlike some people, I don't mind lending a hand."
It was Caroline's turn to scoff, and her arms crossed for good measure. "You weren't asking for my help, you were trying to pawn your worst client off to me. While I can respect the need to dodge Damon Salvatore's nitpicky requests, it's not fair to skip the meeting you set and leave me stranded."
"I apologized for that!"
"An hour with Damon deserves far more than a coffee delivery."
Before Rebekah could snap back, another orange vest made itself known…as did the very attractive man wearing it. Smirking, he reached for the spear she'd been pointing. "Easy, Bekah. Best not to stab people on the street while so visible." His lips stretched into a devastating smile when he looked up. "And who is your intended victim?"
With an annoyed huff, she tossed out a limp hand. "That's Caroline, my officemate. Caro, this is my brother Nik."
"Little old for Boy Scouts, don't you think?"
He nodded in concession, though a brow arched playfully. "Our brother Henrik is to blame for today's happy gathering. Do feel free to join us, love."
"No," Rebekah said automatically, glancing back and forth between them. "No, no, no! Niklaus Mikaelson, I swear to all that is-"
"I can't right now," Caroline answered, putting her poor colleague out of her misery - only to grin at her very handsome brother. "But I might be free later if you were wondering about dinner plans, Niklaus."
Winking, he pulled out a business card and handed it to her, letting his fingers linger on her skin as Rebekah stomped away from them both. "Please, call me Klaus."
