"Hiashi-san, I'm afraid I cannot let you go in.", said Gai coolly, blocking his path.
"Maighto-san, I advise you not to meddle in Hyuga affairs.", said Hiashi somewhat agitated.
"The affair concerns my student. That is reason enough for me to stop you from causing him harm.", Gai countered.
"Again, what transpires between me and my nephew is none of your concerns..."
Gai interrupted him, "Konoha Gakure no Sato Shinobi Handbook. Rule 43 article 3. A Jounin captain is perfectly within his rights to stop families of genin under his command to interact with them, if he is convinced that such interactions will prevent the said genin from performing their duties as shinobi. It is to be reiterated that a Jounin's discretion is absolute regarding such matters and none but the Hokage has authority to demand otherwise."
Hiashi's mask of cool indifference faltered for a brief moment.
"I merely wish to speak with him, Gai. Let me pass.", he appealed keeping the tone of a plea out of his voice.
"You're ten years too late for that, Hiashi.", Gai said scathingly, deliberately omitting any honorific.
"Don't talk about things you don't know!", fumed Hiashi, "You, who have so blatantly ignored my nephew's training, in favour of training a talentless nobody, have no right to reprimand me..."
Hiashi stopped midway in his rant noticing that Gai had effortlessly opened three of his inner celestial gates, his skin was glowing red and a murderous aura surrounded him.
"You shouldn't talk about things you don't know either, Hyuga-san. While your fists are gentle, mine certainly, aren't."
Genma gripped his comrade's shoulders, and mumbled around the senbon in his mouth, "Let him go, Gai.", he paused and looked hard at Hiashi, "Look, I don't really know how you run your clan, and I care even less, but my man Gai here, obviously cares for his student. A word of friendly advice: you don't want to get on his bad side."
Hiashi nodded absently. As he entered the hospital ward, he was met with a very outraged Tenten, who was itching to unleash all her scrolls at him.
"Gai, sensei?! What's He doing here? Hey, you! You'd better not try to hurt our teammate, old man..."
Hiashi was taken aback at the sheer venom in the nondescript kunoichi's voice.
"Hizashi, your son is in good care. He has comrades who'll stay by him no matter what. It's time I did my part to set things right.", thought Hiashi.
"Neji. I want a word with you."
"Hiashi-sama"
"Alright, Tenten, it's time we check up on Lee, before he starts getting bored watching the matches on his own.", said Gai pulling Tenten out of the ward.
"But... But Gai sensei...", complained Tenten.
...
Gai waited patiently as his genius student and his uncle spoke a lifetime's worth of words left unsaid for far too long.
FIN.
