Prologue: Enter the Huntress
The Hunter floated in an ocean of Light, a sight similar to the moments just before her Ghost had resurrected her for the first time in the Cosmodrome. Her five years of life as a Guardian flashed before her from start to finish. Her resurrection, meeting Cayde-6 and the Vanguard, Cayde laughing as he declared that he'd be the one to train her personally at her declaration that she'd be the most powerful Guardian to ever live, unknowingly earning a father figure in that moment. Forming the Fireteam that would become a pseudo family to her. Her meeting with the Exo-Stranger, meeting the Queen of the Awoken, Mara Sov and her bastard of a brother, Uldren Sov. Fighting the Vex Gate-Lord in order to gain entrance to the Black Garden, smirking triumphantly at the sour look on Uldren's face as Mara order him to give her the coordinates of the Black Garden. Destroying the Black Garden's Heart and receiving the Exo-Stranger's rifle as a reward for her actions.
Skolas's escape from the Prison of Elders, Mara calling on her to aid her in destroying the House of Wolves. The Guardian and Queen slowly falling for one another as they met privately to talk strategy only to open up to one another in ways they didn't expect, much to Uldren's disgust. Aiding the last of the Iron Lords, Saladin, as he fought to destroy SIVA, a biomechanical plague that had claimed the lives of the old Iron Lords, earning her place in the new generations of the Lords of the Iron Banner. Her Fireteam of her, John-117; their Titan who allied with the Future War Cult; Korra; their Warlock of Dead Orbit; and herself, the Hunter of New Monarchy, assaulting the Vault of Glass on their own, moving on to slay the Hive God-Prince Crota all on their own.
Investigating the Cabal distress call on Phobos, only to find it assaulted by the Taken, slaves to the Hive God-King Oryx, father to the fallen Prince Crota. Returning to the Last City to find Petra Venj telling the Vanguard of the Awoken's fate. Falling to her knees at the news of her love's fate, only to push herself up and deny the claim that the Queen was dead. Taking her Phaeton Class V2 jump ship to investigate the debris field. Calling in hundreds of Guardians to assist in retrieving the surviving Awoken. Nearly incinerating a member of the Queen's Guard in a fit of rage as the woman told her that Uldren had pushed for the Queen to attack Oryx without alerting the City, finding her lover's broken body in the barely functioning bridge of her flagship, the woman clinging to life by a thread.
Hiding her love in the City and healing her bit by bit while heading out to seek revenge on the bastard that had put the Awoken in such a broken state. Nearly being Taken by the Hive God-King when she stumbled into a trap out of anger and recklessness. Her Fireteam aiding her in killing Oryx once and for all aboard his own Dreadnought, her Iron Banner sword rending the bastard's head from his shoulders as he laughed over her inability to save Mara.
Confronting Dominus Ghaul of the Red Legion before he stripped her of her Light. Calling the Cabal a coward for not beating her in a fair fight before he kicked her off his command ship. Hawthorne and her eagle Louis rescuing her after she'd fallen down the side of a mountain. Being the first of the Guardians to reclaim her Light before reuniting the Vanguard outside the City. Assaulting the Red Legion to kill Ghaul and free the Traveler. Aiding Ana Bray in freeing Rasputin and killing Xol, the Hive Worm-God in the frozen wastes of Mars. Helping the exiled Warlock, Osiris, defeat the Vex Mind Panoptes.
Heading to the Prison of Elders to help Petra stop the riots, barely restraining herself from telling Petra that Mara had survived, and that she and Korra had been trying to heal her ever so slowly. Screaming so loudly that the inside of her throat split open and she began coughing up blood as she held Cayde's body in her arms, her father-figure dead at Uldren's hand. Nearly shooting Zavala when he said they wouldn't hunt the bastard who took Cayde from them. Making a deal with the Spider of the Forgotten Shore for his aid in stopping whatever Uldren's plan was. Hunting down each and every one of Uldren's twisted Fallen Barons, slaughtering them as they tried to stop her from killing their supposed 'Father'.
Being welcomed home by Petra as she entered the Dreaming City, a place Mara had created for the Awoken to live in peace. Hunting down Uldren only for him to be consumed by the abomination born of the Darkness corrupting him and a shard of the Traveler. Taking up Cayde's Ace of Spades Hand Cannon to finish the murderer, only to have her hand stayed by her lover, whom Korra and Ikora had gotten back on her feet during her crusade. The Awoken Queen stripping Uldren of everything that made him a member of the Awoken population before nodding to her lover. The Hunter hadn't hesitated and pulled the trigger. Twelve shots straight to the skull, ending the bastard once and for all before she, Mara and Petra returned to the City, where the Guardian was scolded by Zavala and praised by Ikora for her actions.
Returning to the Awoken home-city with one hundred Awoken Warlocks to cleanse the City, pulling their home back from Oryx's corrupted realm. Helping her people rebuild what both Oryx and Uldren had destroyed, finding something she hadn't know about herself. Fighting and killing made her feel powerful. Building something with her own two hands for her own people made her feel free. Becoming the emissary of the City to the Awoken, who now resided back in the Dreaming City. Returning to Spider at his behest of calling in his favor, only to kill him and every Fallen in his command. She hated Fallen.
Going to deal with some Vex on Mercury that had been stirring up some trouble for both Awoken and members of the Last City. Fighting her way through an army of Vex war machine's, as usual, to kill the giant robot seeking to undo all the good she'd done. The battleground had exploded into a thousand pieces, the Guardian and her Ghost falling through the floor and through a swirling vortex of Light.
So here she was, floating among the Light, feeling safe and warm for the first time in several weeks. As if to give her a massive 'Screw You' a voice echoed in the ocean of light. A woman's voice, ancient and wise beyond comprehension. "Be at Peace, Guardian," the woman's voiced echoed. "I wish not to harm you, but to ask of you your aid."
She blinked her glowing, electric blue eyes and pushed herself to her feet, the gold of her Iron Regalia armor contrasting greatly with the silver Light she stood in. "Let's get one thing straight," responded the Hunter in an ever-so-serious tone. "I don't do anything involving kids, little animals or cake." The unseen woman laughed at her quip, bringing a smile to the Awoken's face. She loved making people laugh, something she had picked up from her Exo-Father.
"Worry not, I only ask that you aid the forces of Light as they push back the Darkness in Arda," the woman said, bringing a frown to the Awoken's face.
"Arda? What the Hell is Arda?" asked the Guardian, glowing eyes narrowed.
"Arda is a world that is both similar and different to your own. It is a realm where Light and Dark do battle, and the head of the Darkness grows stronger by the day. I beg of you, please aid the forces of Light," the woman begged, desperation replacing the elegance in her tone. The Hunter scowled. Anything that could make someone as old and powerful as this woman beg so desperately was something that had to be killed. Hard.
"I'm in. On two conditions," said the Awoken with a smirk.
"Name them and I will do what I can," answered the woman swiftly.
The Awoken smiled brighter, the idea working perfectly "First, make sure to tell everyone that I'm okay, just dealing with a bit of Darkness that needs a bullet between the eyes," she said, not wanting her friends or her lover to worry too much while she was gone.
"Done," said the woman. "And the other condition?"
The Hunter laughed in the confident way only the Hunters could. "A kiss from the beautiful lady as payment. That and I keep what I kill, so technically that's three conditions, but whatever." She responded with a laugh and a shrug of her shoulders.
The woman laughed again, her tinkling laughter like music in the Light-filled air. Before the Hunter could react, her helmet vanished and what felt like a pair of soft lips pressed to her own, making the woman sigh in satisfaction as the lips retreated and her helmet rematerialized. She nodded and gave a thumbs up to the ocean of light.
"Hunter Saera Mor at your service, ma'am!" cried the Hunter, shit-eating grin on her helmet covered head.
The woman laughed and an odd sensation covered the Hunter, her cloak fluttering as the light breeze picked up. "Fair thee well, Guardian. When your work is complete, I shall return you to your loved ones."
The ocean of light faded, leaving the Guardian falling through the night sky filled to the brim with beautiful stars. The Hunter couldn't help herself as her Ghost screamed in her head. She flipped onto her back and laughed to the heavens, grinning like a maniac as she fell to the ruined tower below.
"WOOOOHOOOOO!"
