Olaf has challenged Arthur for his daughter's honour, and the prince was more than ready to defend his love - and life. There's just one simple problem: He's losing.

All he hear is Arthur.

He didn't believe her, he never did.

It's the new Dragon's Coffee branch very first day open, and Merlin's already feeling as if he screwed up big time.

So, no, he would not begrudge Arthur a singular hunting trip, even if it meant risk. If before Merlin arrived Arthur had been sinking under the strain of his obligations, now he was drowning, gasping for air and it tore Merlin apart to see it. When ordered to set up everything to ride in the middle of the night, he just complied without any of his usual cheekiness.

It was not the first time he had seen death.

It's modern times. Merlin has been living alone since Arthur's death. What happens when Arthur returns, how does Arthur react to Merlin's magic. Merlin only expected Arthur's return but he got all the Knights and Gwen too. Basically a combination story of Merlin's magic and Arthur and Co adjusting to the modern world.

Not that he had it in him to deny Merlin anything he wanted – except, maybe, space. It puzzled him that the warlock shunned all his attempts to help and share; he had never given him a reason to treat him like he did – with cold contempt.

It was madness, to allow himself to get lost in the wonders that shaped Guinevere, but there was nothing else he wished to do apart, perhaps, being the one spinning her around in happiness and laughter.

It hardly sounded like Arthur's voice, so frail and broken – and for the first time in hours, he was looking straight at Merlin.

There was no choice, and she knew it.

Merlin believed no more, cared no more, hoped no more. Until the dragon rose in the sky.

It was not his fault that he was staring. It might be the tequila's fault, though.

Was anything worth the risk? The penalty for using magic was death, and how could Gaius ever forgive himself if he were to blame for another lost kin?

It's not that Morgana endorses it, but anyone could see the little hearts above their heads.

There was something in her eyes, so pure, so sweet that Morgana couldn't help but love.

When your power shapes a kingdom, you're the one responsible for its punishments. When you hold a man's soul in your hands, your lies may break it. When you betray those who hold your secrets, your secrets will be spilled. Merlin should've considered that before delivering Mordred to the Pendragon mercy.

Arthur was sleeping, mouth open and chainmail on. Mordred was sleeping a little ways away, looking innocent just to spite him. Gwaine was keeping watch with a borrowed shirt and an untroubled face as he drew in the dirt. Merlin considered, just for a moment, what it would be like to leave now. / Merlin is angry about being abandoned in 5x02 and ends up discussing magic and Morgana.

Arthur ends up wounded in a tournament and receives medical treatment from Merlin as Gaius is away treating an outbreak. During this time, Arthur is given a powerful aphrodisiac causing 'fun times' to pursue. An emotionally constipated Arthur is forced to face his emotions and Merlin is put to the test; can he resist the man of his dreams to protect their destiny?

Merlin thought he was doing the right thing but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
