The Development of Tempest

After that much revelation, it took a while to calm down since well, Veldora was INSIDE Rimuru but still imprisoned...

...and immersing himself in culture of another world, by the way.

So he's taking his sweet-ass time in progress after a 20% start in dismantling his prison. Had he been motivated, he'd be out in a couple months with a progress like that in just three months!

So now, after a few more talks, Gazel determined more out of them.

They were peaceful by nature because that was the kind of person their Namer was. A Monster Namer might have some influence over their Named.

She grew up in an ALMOST peaceful culture so she wasn't keen on starting trouble any day soon. The almost part was because you get killed simply for being in a rich district and a crook wants your purse!

And now Rimuru is focused on developing her town into a beautiful town where comfort is top priority. Homes and Establishments have running water, flushing toilets and sewage system as well as street drains if it ever rains to prevent flooding! Engraving Magic is a favorite to keep the water system functional and the drain goes all the way to the river far away from the town. All citizens learn magic and proper waste handling. Biodegradable Trash are processed outside the city before used as fertilizer in the farms and the 'fertilizer factory' was also the personal toilet of the wolves, while Non-Biodegradables are atomized out of existence by erasure magic for total disposal to prevent a trash heap from forming and keeping the town and forests clean.

She made her town beautiful with nature decor in the right places. And homes all have gardens with tall trees with thick, wide canopies in three corners, except for the backyard where the laundry area is in every home. The Dryads were helpful, in spawning trees.

She got shanghai-ed into Leadership when she got her memories back days after consuming Orc Lord...and Treyni made her the Master of the Forest as magicule-wise, she's the most powerful majin that Rimuru knew she can't relax, and began training hard under Hakurou while leaving instructions for everyone to work on.

So now, regarding Tempest Products?

'Trading is inevitable if we want good relationships huh~?' it got to this point now. 'For trade to happen we gotta be unique in our specialties.' she said. 'We do have some. We wear Monster Moth silk and we're putting Horticulture in the works. We're magically moving trees, the favorite kind of the moths so they'll come back to our designated area every year so our silk is sustainable.'

For citizens of Tempest, they wear the superior Gehenna Moth while Hell Moth is for commercial trading in the future which they stock up in various colors. It was a secret solely known only to the council as the less who knew, the lesser chances of leaking. Monster Silk alone is considered 'light armor' a thousand times superior to Kevlar!

Not even the Dwarf Brothers know of it as their loyalty is to Dwargon foremost. As far as they know, 'everyone' wears Hell Moth silk.

The cocoons of Gehenna and Hell Moth are similar in color and feel. The difference can only be detected by Analysis Skill. Through the Skill the abilities of the silk are as visible as sunlight.

And both are magic items that automatically adjust to the wearer's size by absorbing the wearer's magicules upon being worn and instantly absorbs as well as evaporates sweat so nobody will feel icky at work or at travel and even if it rained, when the rain stops, neck-down you're dry. in seconds. Not only that, the color changes based on the aura of the wearer too. It even self-repairs as long as wearer has magicules. They still need the laundromat though, if dirt and any stain is concerned. The difference was their defensive powers.

Not that she'd tell that.

'Monster Silk is capable of such a feat!' Gazel is interested now.

'It's light armor ideal for mages, but it can be worn underneath uncomfortable metal armor by soldiers that you won't notice the discomfort you're used to any more. But for normal people who don't have magicules, the only special traits it will retain, is its natural defensive traits while the autofitting feature will consume the wearer's stamina instead and set properly afterward. Not a problem for normal civilians.'

'Well, it's still a good consumable! How good is the defensive powers?'

'For a normal civilian, it can withstand the strongest attack of a C-Rank Monster and a C-Rank weapon or magic spell, but it cannot self-repair. Anything above that you're toast. But for a person with magicules, defensive powers are boosted depending on the wearer's strength and repairs happen in a blink, as long as you have energy left. So yes, training is a must and increasing one's magicule limit to reap the full benefits. But we're looking for a way to dye them in permanent color for human convenience though. We do have our color-preferences.'

'Changes colors, self-repairs, dries quickly with no smell, auto-fits and defensive powers based on how strong the wearer is.' Gazel looked thoughtful. 'If you found a way around that lone setback, we could really start business.' he said. 'How do you price Hell Moth Silk?'

'By the bolt it would be 900 gold due to its value as a rare-grade item.' said Rimuru as price will only rise if it was made into an outfit already. 'But as monsters rarely use money unless absolutely necessary...we would like sacks of different types of flour in return as if we tried to farm grain, the Dryads are gonna use our intestines as fishing nets.' she said weakly as the council and guests shuddered as they know how Dryads watch over the forest. 'How much is flour priced in Dwargon? Wholegrain flour and refined flour?'

Gazel looked puzzled.

'There's a thing as refined flour?' he asked, baffled.

'Yes. Back in Earth, even in 19th century, as consumerism exploded, people naturally want prettier things...that included how food looked and tasted.'

'There's such a thing a prettier food?' Rigur is utterly perplexed.

'Yes...' Rimuru conjured illusions of wholegrain flour and refined flour. 'This brownie-thing is wholegrain flour, where all the nutrition is still intact, while the white thing is refined flour. It's sweet and can be made into whiter bread and better as cakes...' she said as she showed many illusions of shokupan and other white bread as well as cakes and pastries, 'But its not nutritious. Its basically snack food for pleasure, and banquets to impress guests, though I wouldn't recommend it for daily meals. Wholegrain is still better for health, be it human and monster. It started with bread in 19th century because snobby nobles thought of bread made of refined flour, unaware of consequences in the long run...especially in crazy lengths they went through for it.'

'How can it be though?' the war minister inquired.

'Well, medical knowledge is years ahead...Great Sage, project a see-through human body.' and the sight, was freaky! She explained the benefits of eating wholegrain products without going into medical jargon they won't even get anyway.

'Well, that's how it goes in Earth. I have yet to see if flour here is the same so I'd need samples. Since I became Leader due to wacky promotion, I have to ensure everyone gets the best of both worlds. Human and Monster...and everything always starts with food, water and shelter.' said Rimuru.

'Mm.'

'Souei, can you go get me a small sack of flour in Dwargon?' Rimuru piped, giving him a gold coin.

'Mm.' and Souei was gone. Five minutes later, he's back with a small sack which was analyzed.

'Our analysis of wholegrain flour, if we compare it to Rimuru's Earth equivalent, this is in fact, four times more nutritious for our well-being. Even moreso for humans.' Rimuru was absolutely pleased. 'Children come first before aesthetics. We'll go wholegrain all the way. Malnourished kids are stunted kids.' she smiled. 'We have other interesting things I bet otherworlders will cry blood over it later on...if they came from the same world I did, they'll demand one thing from us for sure.'

'That is?' Hakurou asked her. Rimuru beamed.

'Coffee and Chocolate. No other country has it, but Jura! Thank Veldora for spawning things left-and-right!' said Rimuru cheerfully.

'Who knows how many otherworlders are here already.' Gazel thought. 'But for now, we'll think of political crazies that will come if people get wind a monster city has this...chocolate.' he said.

'Yeah, that's true...Shuna, bring out our samples in the kitchen.' Rimuru instructed. 'Dark Chocolate and Classic Chocolate drinks, as well as those chocolate candies we made, and that large cake.'

'Yes!' Shuna was a little TOO quick to run out of the room, manners be damned because she was excited.

'Was it that good?' Benimaru asked, sparkling in anticipation. If Shuna likes it, it should be good!

'Hehe, we tried our first batch and she ended up finishing our prototypes by herself.' Rimuru giggled. 'It's that good!' That got the men and Shion anticipating. 'But sadly, chocolate is poisonous to anything canine so canine-type monsters or bloodline descendants can't have any or they'll die.' she sighed. 'Ranga and the wolves know to steer clear from Chocolate and Coffee.'

'Oh...'

Shuna was back with a tray of two jugs, and small glasses. One glass jug was dark brown, and the other was light brown. Chilled.

'The dark one first since it appeals to adult tastes. The classic one is the type that's universally-liked.' said Rimuru as they all had a glass of the dark chocolate.

It was yummy even if it was slightly bitter. As for the classic chocolate, DOGGONE ITS GOOD!

'How soon do you import this?!' Gazel was quick to ask.

'Once we grew about 5000 trees by end of this year which will result in three tons of chocolate, enough to keep our countries happy for several months till next harvest day.' said Rimuru. 'We sort our products into powdered drink mix, chocolate candies, and cocoa powder for baking. We used the powder on this cake so its just as brown.' she said, having them look at the gorgeous two-layered cake before them that both has colors of dark and classic chocolate frosting. With a snap of Rimuru's fingers, it all got cut into slices of equal size for all of them, which they ate on a small plate and a fork.

'This is too good!' they moaned at the deliciousness. Something that bears the color of mud, is THIS good?!

'I understand now why Shuna can eat all those prototypes...I could do the same thing if there's plenty to go around!' Koushiro was in near tears at how good it was.

'You think?! I could eat this forever!' Rigur choked out.

'For now we have about over two million cacao beans on our first harvest and it takes 400 cacao beans to make 1 pound of chocolate. So that's over 5000 pounds of chocolate this season. But we have to divide that into three portions for three chocolate products. Once we got the right amount of trees, we can import to Dwargon by next year.'

'Oho! I'm looking forward to that! And this coffee thing?'

'It's to be a hot drink as well as cake flavor. Shuna, bring that out too...coffee will appeal more to adults actually, no kid will like it and bureaucrats will love it as it'll keep you awake for a couple hours extra till your work's finished. I hope after that you'll make up for those sleep hours as too much stress is bad for health...'

Coffee indeed, was likeable but Koushiro's family didn't like it.

'I have a sweet tooth and so do my kids!' Koushiro choked as he and his children made quite the face they found it hilarious. 'I can't stand this coffee thing!'

'Me either!' Benimaru was even teary-eyed on it!'

'Ugheee!' Shuna choked out.

'Humm, then try the mildest one since the mildest brand is also used in cake flavoring back home...' when they did, they could actually stand it.

'So Hell Moth Silk, Coffee, Chocolate, anything else?'

'Well, we're cultivating mushrooms, soybeans, tea, spices, medicinal herbs, and black rice. We're also trying to make Rice Wine.' said Rimuru. 'What does Dwargon have in the agricultural sector?'

'Well, we have three types of grain for bread, sugar, and livestock. Cattle, Poultry, and Pigs.' said Gazel.

'Oh! We can't have livestock as we have no idea how they'll survive Jura's atmosphere so we were reliant on aggressor meat, so I'd like the flour, sugar and do you have milk?'

'We do of course.'

'Oh! I'll give you the skill to make milk products as a trade-off in return for those!' Rimuru exclaimed. 'Transporting fresh milk from Dwargon to here, even with Shadow Travel will quickly make the milk spoil on the way, so it had to be processed on the spot...' she croaked out.

'Milk can even be processed?' Gazel is now interested.

The knowledge Rimuru has was extremely beneficial as that just opened another avenue of potential.

By the end of it?

Gazel would obtain monster silk, chocolate, coffee, and specific healing herbs from Rimuru while Rimuru wants dairy products, meat, flour and sugar in return in regards to agricultural sector. That, and they formed a treaty on Contract Paper. When it was done in writing, the magic within, will guarantee the pact and announced to the world at large.

They're not a country per se, but a Federation of Goblins, Kijin, Orcs, Treants and Dryads and Dragonewts under one banner.

1. Non-Aggression Pact.

2. Military Assistance incase of Crisis.

3. Highway to Dwargon in exchange for backing.

4. Guaranteed Safety of Dwarves in Jura.

5. Promises of Technology-Sharing between two countries.

Further talks were made as well that both parties are satisfied as Tempest has too many specialties that trading will indeed, flourish for sure.

So now, they began mapping out an ideal route to Dwargon to build a highway in on flat, even land with a strong foundation.

Souei's Intel Units are on it now. That, and they're gathering information based on Rimuru's requests, so they can make what no one has, to maintain 'uniqueness' for trade to flourish as having specialties, WILL protect you in a way. That, and military strength and ability of human nations, and notable individuals so they can prepare well.

As of now, their current military forces? Small, but enough to destroy a city by themselves. They're about the equivalent of 500.000 soldiers. Even Rimuru can wipe out half of that by herself alone.

For now, they need a logo for their products.

As a shoutout to fellow otherworlders, Rimuru thought they should go by an iconic icon.

Pikachu.

She had to take on a Slime Form and swallow paper and ink just to 'print' it out. It was a red Circle with a white edge, and Pikachu made to look like coming out of the circle halfway to say 'Hi!' with a handwave.

'Yosh, this is cute enough!' she smiled as she approached the dwarf brothers about making it the agricultural product logo.

However?

'Eh?' they blinked. 'You mean your slime form is not the logo?'

'Well, I want to make it clear to Otherworlders who are around, that there is a friendly otherworlder in Tempest.' said Rimuru. 'They would know this design TOO well.'

'Well, I think its better if YOU'RE the mascot instead.' said Dord. 'You're very cute as a Unique Slime, nobody would think that Tempest's ruler who's so cute she looks harmless. People will think twice. But all the same, its best if you learn from Gazel-sama about politics as you're new to this. For now, we don't know the alignments of otherworlders present in this world, hoping they're neutral and not enemies after being made loyal to wherever heck they live in now.'

'Yeah...I mean, I'm a General Contractor suddenly ruler of monsters...yeeeeah.' Rimuru sweatdropped. 'I'm still learning from Koushiro before I move on to crazy politics with the King as I mentioned...for now I'm a good provider but doing political tango is beyond me.'

For now, she focuses more in creating a beautiful town with the right landscaping in the right places.

That way her city won't bake during summer as hello? Their materials WILL guarantee a sweltering summer even if she tried to avoid that with engraving magic? The air blowing in will be converted to cool air, but a heated building will immediately warm that up in seconds, but some breeze is better than no breeze in summer...while at winter, warm air will blow in. And all roads have heating engravements so rain will evaporate when rain stops, and snow on the road will melt and evaporate too when it stops snowing.

All conveniences she could imagine, are here using magic. She also built many things that can make Tempest a fun city for visitors. To that end, she built classy hotels with amenities, as well as Gaming Parlors, cafes and restaurants for future visitors, and trained employees...

So. Much. Work.

As for farms, land clearing is OK within reason. Crops. Plus, fruit 'forests' are also planted, why not?

Since they harvest herbs by the stalks, not yanking them out entirely by the roots, the nature of the forest ensures they will grow back as weeds, Rimuru simply mutates them again for harvest and processing. Gazel sent a skinny dwarf by the name of Minister Vesta as the researcher (much to Myrd's dismay as the guy harassed him into building him the classiest villa classier than anyone in Dwargon) so yes, Vesta was made to stay in a VIP room in their hotel until they build him a residence with a workshop because he's a researcher sent to them.

If there's anything Rimuru knows, Researchers BRING their work HOME. His residence, like any in the council, is behind the government building.

His office is in Veldora's Cave though. He had the Dragonewts assist Vesta as its the ladies bringing in a mountain of herbs to supply experiments, into crates that have stasis magic to prevent the herbs from wilting too soon, thus wasting them.

He also talks with Rimuru about Cultural Exchanges, so their countries would know each other better.

Initially, Vesta can't believe that the ruler of Tempest, is a Slime. A Unique Slime named by THAT Veldora, by the way, and keeps the dragon inside of her Skill while dismantling his prison...or that WAS the plan, until Veldora decided to 'explore' her world through her memories and was entertaining himself, so er, he'll be inside her for a bit while longer, that his curiosity is just another prison in the end.

'May I see what Veldora is doing right now?' he asked.

'Sure, he's getting along with Ifrit lately...' Rimuru took him into an illusion to show him what happens within her. And Veldora was indeed, with Ifrit, watching...a concert of FictionJunction. 'Oh, a concert this time...I think horror shows traumatized him for good...'

'Oh? So this is...your world's music?' Vesta was intrigued, being a man of culture.

'Yes.' said Rimuru as they listened to a song sung by Kalafina, Magia.

'So this is a song...' Vesta mused as he was impressed. 'Just what instruments are used to make such music? And that poetry!'

'Well, songs are better than poetry no?' Rimuru smirked. 'Songs were mostly what I remember until eating Orc Lord helped me regain my past. Great Sage, download our style of music into Vesta.' she instructed. 'Our instruments, how they are made, how to compose songs, everything. Let's begin with Classical Music before we go modern next week.' she said. 'There's only so much stress a mind can take per downloading.'

/Proceeding with Downloading, beginning with Flute.../

'How much stress are you talking about?' Vesta asked her.

'Imagine the accumulated stress of staying up for a week just to finish deadlines on time under intense pressure, and having less time to eat and drink. Imagine how that feels.' Rimuru snorted, speaking from experience. Vesta balked as back in the real world, he FELT it.

'...I think I shouldn't overwork...' he wheezed, groaning in stress. But he got knowledge of flutes, and countless music written by many composers. 'You seem to know this feeling very well!'

'Ahahaha...I was human once...and I got saddled with a jerk of a client my boss couldn't afford to offend or lose a great deal of money...a 9 billion project out of a 40-storey office building in exchange for putting up with his jerkness was well worth it.' Vesta choked. 'Complete with a parking lot, by the way.' she said, snapping her fingers to show him the building in question, with a parking lot next to it that it almost sembled a shopping mall.

'A huge building...but isn't that way too much?'

'It is. I doubt this can fit in Dwargon and his majesty's gonna puke blood at the costs. Besides, Tokyo's overpopulated which is why we needed tall buildings for countless offices for this and that division to keep a business or organization running.'

'What's the worst place you worked on?'

'Out of embarrassment, a Love Hotel.' said Rimuru, going pink.

'...Love Hotel? What's that?'

'It's a hotel just for couples in a very lewd mood and stay in for countless hours of bedroom tango until they're satisfied.' said Rimuru flatly and Vesta put a tomato to shame as he quickly got what she meant.

'There's a hotel for THAT?! Scandalous!' he squeaked in mortification.

'Jackass colleague who didn't want the job dumped that on me, using their seniority to their junior.' Rimuru scowled. 'As revenge I stole his high-paying projects in his queueing project files and replaced it with cheap projects and I made payday and he had no clue. Up until my death he had no clue!' she cackled.
