Chapter 7- Quick notice to all of you out there, a regular orc's magicules tastes like dragon poop.
(Milim 1st person)
After accepting Treyni's request to exterminate the Orc Lord as a way for Rimuru to try his techniques in a real fight, we took off to the skies. I was still in this thing Rimuru called a 'hoodie'- it was wayyyyyyyyyy more comfortable than my usual clothes, despite the lower Grade. It'll also adapt to my aura soon, so I won't have to worry about it getting destroyed.
It didn't take long for us to reach the area where the Orc Lord was currently located- along with its army, it was chasing down 5 ogres and 1 kijin- Hakurou. I looked over to Rimuru, but I couldn't tell what his expression was because of that weird mask. I could, however, tell that he wanted to help. How? Well, he just launched four 'Black Thunder' into the army of orcs, taking out about a tenth of them, and then dove down to the ground.
If that isn't wanting to help, what is?
I arrived next to him on the ground, and then we teleported next to the ogres.
"Stay back, foul Majin!" A red-haired ogre shouted. Rimuru ignored him and walked over to Hakurou.
"Need help?" The elderly kijin responded with a nod, before turning to me- he seemed cautious.
Rimuru saw this, and said, "Ah, don't worry about Milim- she'd just here to watch." He patted me lightly on the head. The other ogres suddenly looked at me with fear upon hearing my name, so, probably to stop them from making any rash moves, Rimuru bound them with thread. Neatly done, too.
"Now, time to have a feast!"
...
Honestly, I was a bit surprised that Milim didn't immediately attack the ogres when they showed hostility. I had assumed that she'd just kill them to stop wasting time, but I guess she's more patient than I thought.
Looking down upon the orcs and the Orc Lord, which was now an Orc Disaster, I got a little excited. It'd be a perfect chance to test my strength in group battles.
'Hey, GS, isn't that too much energy for an Orc Lord?'
Correct. This individual is an Orc Disaster. It evolved by eating its master, a Majin, while you were talking to the ogres.
'Oh, really? If that's the case, then I guess this might be a bit troublesome.'
Not necessarily. While the Orc Disaster possesses far more power than an Orc Lord, he still is likely below you in actual combat capability, due to your wide range of skills and magic.
'Hm? That's neat, I guess. How do you think I should deal with him?'
I suggest immobilising the orc army using Earth Magic and Transmutation to trap them in the ground. Then, face the Orc Disaster one on one.
'Hmm... Okay, I guess I'll go with it.'
So, I teleported down into the middle of the army, drawing their attention from what looked to be the corpses of lizardmen, the pre-evolved form of Milim's citizens, Dragonewts. Then, I lightly tapped my foot, causing the ground all across the marshes I had landed on to morph, forming pits and spikes, or simply dragging orcs into the ground. Quite a handy move.
Now, however, is the fun part. The Orc Disaster. Apparently, I'm secretly a bit of a battle maniac. Nothing wrong with that though, right? The Black Thunder that fell from the sky and made the Orc Disaster half-dead didn't think there was, why would you? The Orc Disaster's Ultraspeed Regeneration did think there was, however- which means if you do as well, you're as bad as a Demon Lord Seed! Ha! See, there's nothing wrong with me! ...
Okay, maybe I'll get GS to scan my mental state later. Back to the fight though. The big piggy seemed to have the same desire to eat as I did- in other words, neither of us would be willing to talk it out. I mean, it'd be surprising if he did want to after I struck him with lightning.
"Tch. Little human, you dare stand in the way of the orcs? I'll kill, you then I'-"
"Hold up there, Piggy-san. I'd like to make a bet."
Perplexed, was perhaps how the big piggy felt. "A bet?"
"Yup, a bet. You don't fancy talking this out, do ya? So, I'll make a bet. If you can give me a good battle- because I've just found out recently I'm a battle manic-, then I'll help all of the orcs out of their food issue. That is your problem right?" Milim said so, and I doubt she'd make something like that up, so I reckon it's true.
The disastrous Demon Lord Seed looked unconvinced- fair enough, since I am his enemy. So, I just exposed my soul as I did to Hakurou and the others after I predated Shizue-san; once again, it seemed to work rather well.
"Very well. But don't get cocky, little human- I'm more than strong enough to wipe out everyone else if you don't win."
Oh, how wrong can you be?
...
In a now-familiar manner, Rimuru motioned for the Orc Disaster to come- he'd been doing some practice against Milim's citizens too, and this kind of signal was necessary, according to them. He presumed it was seen as rude not to when you're the one challenging them, at least to the Dragonewts.
Anyway, the Orc Disaster stepped forward, sending a small shockwave throughout the land, and magicules followed- in the form of a Rot-type attack called Chaos Eater.
Rimuru responded in kind, Transmutation forming a glass ball from the ground- inside of this ball, was a wonderfully dangerous thing called cyanide. He thought, 'He's still just a big, humanoid pig, so he needs oxygen, right? Wonder if this'll work. Though, I hope it doesn't, for the sake of a good fight.'
Apparently, it would work, as when the Orc Disaster's gaze fell upon the sphere containing cyanide, it appeared to instinctively be put on guard, focusing on where the ball would go so much that it ignored- or maybe just didn't see- Rimuru slicing up his incorporeal Chaos Eater with just a sword. He didn't however, ignore the black flame that then appeared on Rimuru's blade- nor the way in which it seemed to eerily crackle in time to the thunder and lightning in the sky.
"This might be challenging." That was all the Orc Disaster said to acknowledge Rimuru as an obstacle to his goal. And, to the outside world, it'd be the last thing he said, too.
...
"Yes, it might be, Piggy-san. Because you've no bricks to hide behind today." The arm flying through the air seemed to agree. The black flames hindering regeneration on the big piggy's stump thought so too. Well, I imagine they did. I mean, they originated from me, so they'd think the same as me too, right? Maybe.
'Still though, my speed is better than I thought; Piggy-san didn't even seem to see me move. Have I just been corrupted by Milim and Hermes' insane techniques?' I probably was, though that wasn't a bad thing.
'Wait, wait wait wait... DID HE JUST EAT HIS OWN ARM?! AND IT'S REGENERATING 'COS THE BLACK FLAMES GONE NOW TOO? WTF?! Why can't I think of cool strategies like that?' I was kinda pissed at my enemy's ingenuity. I was also worried about the Orc Disaster's incredible regenerative abilities, which seemed to be above even mine.
My blade struck again, this time the tip of it gleaming with a sharp aura, and surrounded by a paralyzing gas. The big pig's movements slowed, though not as much as I'd hope. The weird energy inside the aura failed to impede its regeneration, as I watched it, once again, eat its own wound, allowing it to heal. The weird energy dissipated, my control over it too weak when detached from me.
'Hey, GS, this might be troublesome, so can you do this-'
...
Red eyes stood out in the darkness, illuminating the ground shadowed by the blanket of twilight making up the glittering sky. Black flames seemingly melted into their surrounding, the weapon they were surrounding becoming nearly impossible to track as a result. An emotionless yet determined gaze penetrated a Demon Lord Seed's puny soul, even making its physical body shiver, like a human out in the cold.
Thunder danced around the skies as two blades crashed, though one failed to withstand the searing heat of the other's cold flame. In a Disaster's eyes, fear struck, as did lightning in their reflection. Lightning accompanied by a blazing fire so bright it looked like a newly-born star, ready to light up the jet-black sky. Yet, the feeling of fear soon left the Diaster's mind, as a new power surged through it. Something hot, and something Unique- ready to help whenever the chance to react may arise.
Seemingly noticing this new power, a small smirk played on a child's face. Crimson eyes turned golden once more, gleaming in the dead of night. And a Disaster's laughing, carefree face found itself taking in a little glass ball.
...
" 'So, greedy little human, did I give you what you desired? A fight? A new power? And will you give me what I desire in return?'
'Hehe. Indeed, you did do well. And I must say, Reaction? It sounds plain, but it's a neat Unique to add to my collection. I'll barely need to master it, too- just adjust it to work the best it can. The fight was decent too! And yeah, don't worry, I'll make sure the orcs stay fed. I have a skill that's practically made for the task!
'So rest easy. Your people will stay nice and safe, too. After all, the caretaker of the forest owes me a favour now. I'll cash it in just for you, 'k?' "
Silence spread throughout the room. Even Milim's just stared at me, looking very confused. My slimy form melted slightly under everyone's gazes. "Um, is there something wrong with what I said to the Orc Disaster?" Silence again, until Treyni-san, the dryad from before, spoke up:
"Well, if we ignore the implications of that last line, no, there's nothing wrong with what you said. And, what would you like me to do?"
"Well, do you have one of those fruits from a treant? I saw about them in a book, and I think they'd be the perfect food to replicate, with their incredible properties. And, before you ask, I have a skill called 'Food Replication' that lets me replicate food for as long as I have energy and enough matter to change. Fortunately, I don't think there's a lack of matter in a mountain or in my Stomach, so the only real limit is energy."
Treyni-san took one out of thin air. 'She knows Spatial Magic too?' I reached out for it, predated it, and asked GS to use Food replication and spare matter in my Stomach to replicate it until I either had no spare matter, or less than 40% total energy. We reached the matter limit first. I still had 94% total energy. Pretty efficient skill, magicule-wise. Though maybe that's because of Transmutation making it easier.
"Uhh... Eh... Ah! Okay, I've made about 763,458 of them. How long do you think this'll last?"
"... Well, we dryads and treants only have around 2,000 of them, and that could feed the entire forest for half of a day, so I think it should last if it's just the orcs..." Treyni-san's voice sounded weak. I guess I might've gone overboard with getting GS to go until I couldn't make it anymore. Perhaps I should donate some extra beyond just the orcs.
...
'God, what a pain.' It took 3 WHOLE DAYS just to hand out food and names to the orcs. I needed to name all of them to make sure the now-unstable energy from Starved Ones didn't run rampant and destroy their bodies. Though it was necessary, this plan completely disregarded my wellbeing, and I ended up being on less than 10% energy, just a few percent off entering 'sleep mode', which is basically just turning a phone off while you charge it.
Also, quick notice to all of you out there, a regular orc's magicules tastes like dragon poop.
That said, it wasn't all bad. After all, I got an adorable pet, Ranga, a neat new Unique, and...
