Although everybody expected this outcome, it was still heartbreaking to see, Serin lost, and it wasn't even that close, 105-53
It was a given really, between the difference in abilities between the two teams, it seemed as is the world was against them,
Kotaro defeated Izuki with his frigning fast lightning dribble
Kiyoshi couldn't defeat Nebuya due to his injury
Hyūga was taken out of the game due to Reo Mibuchi's different types of shots (Void, Earth, Heaven) and making him gain 5 fouls.
Kagimai couldn't defeat Akashi's emperor eye, nor Akashi's zone
And poor Kuroko, he was the only one successful enough to defeat who he was going against, yet why did he receive all the blame?
"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT KUROKO!" Kagmai yelled in the locker room after the game has ended
"Wha… What do you mean Kagami-kun, we all tried our best and we all lost this game"
"NO YOU IDIOT, IT WAS YOU. WE NEEDED YOUR PASSES AND THE ONE TIME YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO COME THROUGH, YOU FAILED. YOU FAILED ME AND THIS TEAM!"
Kuroko could barely keep his tears from coming out, here was his light, blaming him for their loss, it almost made him laugh, first Aomine leaving him, and now Kagami was blaming him.
In hindsight, he was given a signa. After their first loss to Aomine and Tōō, Kagami said to Kuroko face "I think this is as far as we can go".
Kuroko thought that he was just upset about losing, and since they started working together again, he thought it was behind them. But now he realizes maybe this is how Kagami always was.
"Do you all think this way?" Kuroko asked the whole team
Nobody said anything, they all just gave different looks, whether that be disappointment, blame, sadness, all, negative looks. The only one who didn't give him a negative look was Izuki. He looked like he wanted to say something but held off.
"If you can't even come though the one time we need you, I guess we would be better off without you" Kagami says directly to Kuroko's face
"What about when I helped you beat Aomine? Or when I came up with a plan to stop Kise, or any other game I helped our team win against any of my former teammates?"
"Pft, we could of done it without you, I am pretty sure you were actually holding us back, look what I did against Aomine without you, and for all the other games, we definitely would of thought of something, except we didn't because you always had a plan, but where was your plan against Rakuzan?"
Kuroko was speechless, he didn't know what to say
"Fine then, I hope you all have a good life. I guess if you don't need me, I won't bother you anymore"
Kuroko made a quick exit letting a few tears run down his face, that was right before he ran into the GOM, he was about to say something until he heard what they were talking about.
"Good job Akashi-chi"
"Quiet Kise, our win was determined from the beginning, afterall, I am absolute"
"Nano-doya, you were against Kuroko, Aquarius was predicted to have the worst luck today. He is an idiot to expect different, he didn't even try to get his lucky item."
"Kuro-chi was always weak, I wish I could of crushed him"
"The only one on Serin who is good is Kagami, nobody not apart from the GOM could beat me"
"Speaking of Kuroko, I had thought we could replace him as the Phantom Six man with Mayuzumi, afterall, Mayuzumi is better at everything, shooting, dribbling, speed, jumping, Mayuzumi beats kuroko in every category. Additionally, speaking of replacing Aomine, if you lose to Kagami again, I won't hesitate to replace you."
"Yeah yeah, whatever Akashi, I will destroy him next time"
"Make sure you do Aomine"
Kuroko couldn't believe what he was hearing, the people who he spended almost all his middle school life with. They are just ready to drop him like that!
Kuroko ran as fast as he could after that. He needed to get away, far away, any place away from his so called friends.
He ran and ran until he had no idea where he was, with the season being winter, it was already dark and the first snowfall started.
"I wish I was stronger, I wish I could go back and change how they were. I wish I could fight them on my own terms and not rely on others"
Whether it was fate, luck, or something else entirely. But someone, or something heard him. Something with the power to grant his wish.
The wind started to pick up and the last thing Kuroko heard was
"Good luck then".
