TIMELINE: 2019-Proto
As Oma Zi-O, Neo-Decade, Sora, Donald, and Goofy clashed with Xehenort in his Keyblade Armor, the sounds of their Keyblades clashing rang out of the Keyblade Graveyard. The battlefield was littered with the injured bodies of their friends such as Riku, Kairi, Selphie, and Isaiah, who alongside the reformed Guerre and Famine, tried their best to fight against Conquete and Mort.

However, two people were not moving as their corpses were on opposite ends of the battlefield Oma Zi-O and Xehenort's forces were battling on.
They were Grant Myson and Weiss Tsukuyomi, the two friends of Rex Wells… who sacrificed their lives to try and stop Xehenort.
/We'd sit for hours
He'd share his plans
To build a universe and make every part by hand/
Soon, the two were pushed off as Xehenort raised the X-Blade into the sky, summoning a yellow heart-shaped moon. It then began to be consumed by darkness as the moon slowly but surely turned black, causing the sky itself to drown the battlegrounds with darkness.
/A big scheme
With an infinite goal/
Immediately, the Heartless began to spring up as the remaining heroes got up and readied themselves for battle. Despite their injuries, the heroes did their best to keep the Heartless from reaching Oma Zi-O and his party. The rest of the true Organization XIII joined in, summoning several Nobodies and Unversed to their side with the Another Riders at the forefront.
/So I would watch and listen and try to learn
As the pieces and bits became whole/
Wanting to move as fast as he could before they were overwhlemed, Oma Zi-O quickly dismissed his Keyblade and activated his finisher alongside Neo-Decade, who drew a card from his Ridebooker.
SHUUEN NO TOKI!
FINAL ATTACKRIDE: D-D-D-DECADE
The pair then leaped into the air as Sora, Donald, and Goofy raised their weapons together, allowing them to fire out a blast of red, blue, and green energy to join the gold and magenta auras the Riders had.
OMA ZI-O HISSATSU GEKI!
As the kicks and beam united into one, the team was able to strike down Xehenort before he could add even more darkness to the heart of all worlds.
/But there was more going on than the work at hand
What I learned had to do with the strength of the soul/
The old Keyblade Master soon cursed the names of the heroes as he exploded in a burst of magical and Chrono energy, leaving the X-Blade behind for Oma Zi-O to pick up. After removing his helmet, Rex soon looked towards Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Neo-Decade, who took his own helmet as well before turning his gaze back to the blackened Kingdom Hearts and fulfill his role in this world as the Demon King of Time.

Though our body's weak and breakable
The spirit is indomitable/
Soon, a burst of golden energy exploded from the demon king as a clock sigil formed underneath his feet. After taking two steps forward, two spiritual images appeared as Grant and Weiss placed their hands on the X-Blade, allowing Oma Zi-O to lift the Keyblade into the air and seal Kingdom Hearts away, restoring it's yellow glow and freeing it from the darkness.
/INTERLUDE/
All of a sudden, the universe was eclipsed by a golden light as the timeline itself was reborn into something new…
What resulted was the creation of a new world in Kamen Rider no Sekai, and a new timeline that united the old and the new. While Yuen was still firmly erased thanks to the young Sora's wish, the Master of Masters was born in his place. However, this rebirth came at a price, as once more the worlds were separated once again, and the Keyblade War was re-instated. For one person... it was okay...
At least his friends would be able to have a good life without him...

TIMELINE: 2018-A
Sougo Tokiwa was walking home from school with Geiz and Tsukuyomi in tow. It had not been long since he became Zi-O, and there were still things that confused him. Why was he the one to become the Demon King of Time? Couldn't it have been someone else? What happened that made Geiz want him dead?
/Just dream big
Then work 'til it grows/
He tried his best not to think about it before they arrived to Kujigoju Hall, where his uncle was waiting for him. The man smiled as the trio removed their shoes and began to talk about the day they had.
/I learned this lesson
We can evolve
Achieving anything as long as our heart's resolved
Believing
Will make it so/
However, as Sougo went to grab a snack, he noticed a mysterious sign behind the counter. It said "GADGETWORKS REPAIR SHOP" on it along with the slogan "YOU BREAK IT, WE FIX IT!". Sougo was confused at first, but then guessed that it was likely the old name of his uncle's clock shop. He found it funny that, even though they were still a clock shop, they still functioned as a standard repair shop regardless.
/Though our lives are limited by years on Earth
Our dreams won't be bound inside
The goal's not to live forever
Cuz eternity loves the creations of time/
He then walked in as a mysterious hooded person watched the store from afar with a smile. Woz noticed this strange man and wanted to confront him, but for some odd reason, he looked almost like a specter despite him being a Somebody. However as he thought of this, the person had vanished.

Though our body's weak and breakable
The spirit is indomitable/
LOCATION: Destiny Islands
Sora and Riku were resting on the Paopu Tree they and Kairi normally hung out on. While they were glad that the threat of Xemnas and Organization XIII was over, but even if nothing changed. Riku noted that they were in a small world, but one that was part of a bigger universe. Sora wondered what made the door to the light that brought them home, but the silver haired Keyblade wielder noted that his heart was the one who brought it.
/Don't be afraid
Get up, get going, a step every day
I'll meet you there
When we strive, we transcend
Even death cannot end our climb/
Meanwhile, Kairi was rushing towards the boys with a letter in a bottle in hand. She quickly stumbled and was about to fall when someone caught her. The girl thanked the person for helping her, but the boy merely smiled and walked away. This confused the girl as she continued on her way. However, as the boy's Keyblade opened a portal, the boy took off his hood to reveal Rex Wells, the previous Rex Wells, trying his best to hide his tears as he watched the trio read out the message to the king before leaving for his final destination...
/I wasn't ready
You can't prepare
For the unthinkable for something that's so unfair/
TIMELINE: 2018-B
As he arrived at a simple park, Rex walked around his new surroundings. He was sure that his plan to seal away Kingdom Hearts and rework the world to hide it had worked, but he wondered if his friends had been remade. He then heard some chattering as he noticed a familiar sight… himself…
/It's cruel, but that's how life goes/
Namely, it was a version of him casually talking with a purple-haired girl, laughing about some kind of incident. Rex was happy as he stared at the pair, he never got to meet his childhood love in his timeline, but now this version of himself would end up in a much better place than himself.
/But through the sadness
Thousands of tears
We see his message, sparkling and crystal clear/
He then wiped some tears as he began to walk away before looking at the last remnants of his timeline, and the only things that reminded him of his home. They were the Geiz and Tsukuyomi Ridewatches of his versions of Grant and Weiss, along with the Cross-Z, Mach, Beast, and Genm Ridewatches.
/Our work is larger than we know/
With a smile, Rex decided to get up and finally make his leave for the next world. After all, he was no without a world to call home, so he decided to travel the multiverse in search of a place to call his own. The boy was thinking of going to the new Twilight Town that was created from this timeline, however upon reflection, he decided against living in that world. There were too many painful memories he had in that little town, ones that reminded him of the home he would never see again...

As he turned to leave, he noticed a red Time Mazine arriving as the boy merely shook his head. Rex then walked away as he knew that the adventure was about to start once again.
To him, one road had ended… and another road to the king had opened up…

Well, I'm guessing that you guys are confused as to what this chapter has anything to do with the current plotline, but really, this is mostly a chapter made for me. This is both a way for me to pay tribute to Monty Oum, the creator of series like Dead Fantasy and RWBY, but to also allow me to finally put Edge of Time/Prototype behind me. Honestly, while I am glad that I rebooted the series, I still can't help but think about the original story that helped me get my feet off the ground in terms of fanfic writing.
So, yes, in Prototype, a fanfic created as a kind of story based on the Betrayal of Light fic by Tahosaurus, the story would have become just "Zi-O but with Kingdom Hearts and random characters in it" with Xehenort recruiting the original Conquete and Mort to his true Organization XIII and try to forge the X-Blade within that timeline to complete his goals faster, however frustration with both the story and myself ended up making me want to reboot this series. Although, I always imagined that the reset we see in Zi-O's finale was more like what happened in Build's finale, with a new timeline born from the hero's sacrifice, including a new version of Rex that Road to the King has been following for a while now.
