It was nearing the end of the second week, and the meeting last week hadn't been fruitful, Sesshomaru avoided the subject of his own future so the 3 lords decided to call on the lady of the west, his mother, Narumi.
She was revered across the land as one of the most powerful demonesses in Japan, but of course for the late Lord Toga mated her and they had Sesshomaru.
Even as a widow, she still held a powerful opinion across borders.
The more time went on, each year she would get complaints and inquiries for her to step up and force her son into an alliance. Each time she would decline, stating it was none of her business, for he was too long of age.
This year, however, each cardinal lord was under one roof and she couldn't ignore them as well as she would like.
She typically eat breakfast by herself in one of the lesser dining halls, but 3 unexpected guests invited themselves to join her that particular morning.
"Don't you consider it rude to join without an invitation gentlemen?" she drawled slowly but dangerously.
"We must discuss your son, with you milady" said Lord Hideki
"What Sesshomaru does isn't my concern, please talk to him" she bit back, rising to leave.
"Lady Narumi, we are petitioning you to talk some sense into him, he needs an heir and we need an alliance" Lord Naoki tried.
"Lord Naoki… what possibly could you offer the west, weren't you in the running with Lady Rin?" she debated.
"Um… no Lord Itsuki is in the running Milady and my sister Miyuki has shown some interest in him and she just turned 17 this year"
"Lord Hideki what are you offering from the East?" she asked in unison.
"My father's widow, Lady Tsukimi" he replied earnestly.
She narrowed her eyes slightly, she hoped that Sesshomaru wouldn't try and marry her off in her old age cause she would end him if he tried.
"Have you asked her if that's okay with her?" She replied sweetly.
"Of course, she is lonely and wants a new partner after my father's demise long ago"
Of course she did…
Narumi sipped at her morning tea while looking like she was complimenting their comments but she just wanted to waste their time, like they were wasting her's
They ate in modern silence before she announced she was needed elsewhere.
Protests followed.
"I'm sorry Milord's, but if you must know Sesshomaru isn't going to budge regardless of what I say, he does what he he was submissive I would have married him off 100 years ago" she commented while laughing softly, walking away.
The three lords stayed put, dismayed that their attempt to persuade her had failed.
Lord Hideki spoke first.
"What other methods do we have to use?" He asked the other two.
"Well being polite is out of the question, we'll have to be underhanded" commented Itsuki.
"My sister is about to go into heat… we could force Sesshomaru's hand, and hope that they conceive, he would have to have extreme mind power to not engage her…." commented Naoki blandly, offering a suggestion but feeling bad about it, considering he suspected that Kagome had feelings for the Lord.
A/N: The Lord's are getting desperate, will Sesshomaru be swayed by their meddling or will Kagome realize her feelings in time before they can intervene in their budding relations? Also Rin is nearing the end of her time picking a husband who will she choose?
