They had already finished by the time Kagome stumbled into the room unannounced, but Sesshoumaru regretted letting her see him in a state. Not that any of it was her business but he had taken a liking to the miko and wanted her to continue to trust him. The way she reacted when she ran indicated that perhaps she felt something towards him afterall.
Miyuki rolled over, straddling him once more expecting to indulge again for she began to kiss his neck lightly but Sesshoumaru shoved her off of him and got up and grabbed his robe.
"Get out" he calmly stated walking over to the pile of papers Kagome left.
Miyuki narrowed her eyes.
"Milord, surely you knew?" she asked the obvious.
"That you successfully seduced me while ripe for pupping? Yes I'm aware…." he said crisply.
"You have an obligation to me now, surely it wouldn't hurt to endure a successful encounter?" she pressed posing on purpose, hoping to entice him once more.
Sesshoumaru felt the tug to agree to her request but an image of Kagome's horrified expression crossed his mind and he became aware of how he felt, he was interested in the miko and not wanting Miyuki to win, although she might have already, but there was still a chance she didn't conceive… plus he never marked her, it was just a one night stand.
He turned away from her.
"I won't repeat myself Miyuki, and well I am obligated to you for now I will not ensure you carry my heir unless fate has already decided but till we find out, leave me!" he raged slowly, voice rising.
"As you wish" she replied, smirking, she had gotten what she wanted.
Sesshoumaru finished up the remainder of the work Kagome left, before returning to his office and locking himself in, he needed some time to process.
He would have to accompany Miyuki to the ball, and see her off when they left for the North in a few days time but she would know within the month if their union was successful. He had options but only if he and Kagome felt the same way and managed to agree to be together, if that was still possible… he had been a fool. It was easy to see her attachment to him now that he had made his own mess.
There was also Naoki… if she decided to abandon him because of this, thinking herself as unworthy, she would probably fall for the other lord. Sesshoumaru wondered bitterly if the elderly Northern Lord had planned this all along, to gain a guaranteed alliance with the west and the power of the Shikon Miko?
He held hope that he could salvage his relationship with Kagome… that she wouldn't be swayed so easily before they had time to talk.
He had a late dinner brought up to him and the servant who brought it also brought news of rowdy gossiping nobles and high spirited drunk Miko…
Sesshoumaru kicked him out, infuriated.
A/N: So much for hoping? Poor Sesshoumaru has a plan and Kagome goes off and gets drunk with a bunch of men xD whelp we've made it to the ball next chapter and see who Rin chooses as her happily ever after? Plus will Kagome and Sesshoumaru get the chance to work things out before Miyuki slides herself into becoming the next Western Lady? The suspense is coming to a climax soon I promise.
