Rin was ecstatic that she got to have one last breakfast with everyone that was her core group.
Sesshomaru, Jaken, Kagome and Narumi.
"Rin, I am proud of the commitment you have made to taking this month seriously and I look forward to seeing your intended tonight" commended Sesshomaru casually with a slight smile.
"Thank you Milord, I believe you will be in favor of my choice." Rin replied, sipping some tea.
"Seems like yesterday you were but a tiny girl, hiding behind my son's leg" Narumi commonly laughs at the memory.
"Even as a girl, Rin has always had a fiery but lovely personality, her soon to be beloved had better watch out for her temper" chimed in Kagome giggling as well.
There was a pleasant atmosphere surrounding her on her last day of being single, but Rin did notice an undercurrent of frostiness, particularly between Kagome and Sesshomaru, normally Kagome would face her body towards him, today she faced away and normally they would share a small pot of black tea, from the north, but today it was just sitting on front of Sesshomaru.
Something had clearly happened and she wondered if it had to do with their latest visitor, Lady Miyuki from the Northern lands…
"Sesshomaru, I understand you are taking Milady Miyuki to the ball this evening?" asked Narumi suddenly.
Rin looked over in surprise, she had thought that maybe he would have asked Kagome?
"Yes, I am escorting her this evening." he replied curtly.
"Lord Kiyoshi informed me this morning of what has occurred and I expect you to act accordingly since that is protocol until we know the results…." she finished before going back to her documents she had brought with her that morning.
Rin dared to stir the pot, for she didn't know.
"Milord? I thought you and Lady Kagome…" she trailed before she was interrupted by Kagome standing suddenly.
"May I be excused milord? Rikka has a lot prepared for today and I can afford… to keep Lord Naoki waiting…" she asked with a cold and daunting tone.
Sesshomaru wanted to snarl at her, for she was being super rude but he held back knowing she was just hurt by his recent actions, and if he wanted to salvage their budding friendship he would have to let it go.
"You may leave Kagome" he replied and watched as she turned tail and ran out of the room.
"Rin, I understand you haven't heard since you've had so many appointments these past few days but Sesshomaru has laid with Lady Miyuki and she may be with pup... If indeed their union was successful, we may have an heir to the Western lands, and Milord cannot sabotage our good standing with our Northern ally, he will be caring for her until they depart in a few days time, and possibly return if she is indeed pregnant" explained Narumi.
Rin wilted with that admission, she had been so sure that Kagome was going to become the next Lady of the Western Lands…
