Prompt: Affirmation
Predawn peaked over the horizon, and Kagome's foggy brain wasn't getting much better even though Naoki had kept her company in the gardens for quite a while now.
"Ugh, Milord, would you know what demons think is strong to drink? I'm still quite inhibited…" Kagome stumbled with her words in frustration.
Naoki was biting his lip while attempting not to look at her.
"Milord?" she asked, nervousness settling in.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to leave you now. You smell like you are entering your cycle and I'm craving to ravish you… course I won't and well I bid you goodnight Milady and sorry I have to flee like this" he apologized disappearing, using his demon speed.
Understanding he was doing for both of them. Kagome sighed and figured she should just head straight back before anyone got any ideas…
Dizzy but able, she started towards the fortress.
Reaching the third floor, Kagome gasped loudly when a white blur appeared and swept her away. Fearing to get kidnapped, she zapped the unsuspecting demon, she may be drunk and smelling delicious for some lower-ranked demons but she refused to be taken advantage of in this scenario.
"Kagome…" a familiar voice said her name.
Looking up at her captor, it was Lord Sesshomaru.
"Milord… no need to grab me, I have been through enough handsy demons tonight!" she exclaimed, demanding her release.
Growling slowly at her, offended. Sesshomaru released her.
"No one touched me, what I meant was catching me off guard with your speed, slow down please, the world is too dizzy for additional feats that I cannot fathom" she explained waving her arms to make her point stronger.
Sesshoumaru calmed before whisking her away before she could protest.
When he released her next, they had left the fortress's boundaries and were outside somewhere.
"Where are we?" she asked uncoordinatedly and started to feel a bit moody.
"I said we would talk tonight, My part in Rin's night is over and I didn't want anyone to interfere or overheard our conversation so I have brought you to my special spot" he explained, backing away from her and giving her some space now that they had arrived.
Kagome turned around and surveyed her new surroundings.
They were in a small meadow area surrounded by cliffside on all sides except in the corner where there was a charming waterfall cascading down into a small crystal clear pool. The opening to the meadow was covered by brush, vines and other small twigs.
An excellent hiding spot.
She crossed her arms over her chest and awaited his speech.
"First and foremost I owe you an apology for disrespecting your feelings. I slept with Lady Miyuki in a moment of weakness and being confused about my true feelings for you. I'm sure you're aware that you are 500 years in the past and know of demon customs, particularly ones like this?" he asked after apologizing for her hurt ego and trying to get her understanding of the situation.
Kagome closed her eyes and walked a few paces away, sighing.
"I understand that you follow your instincts and that such things are normal. Humans can do the same thing without thinking, but I require some respect. Miyuki has a legitimate claim to your lands, and future if she is indeed pregnant from your exciting unexpected night... The odds are high given that I've been told she was in heat… My point is that I refuse to be second again" Kagome declared, now facing him.
"An arrangement with the Northern lands is possible through negotiations. She will not get what she wants as she hopes for," he replied softly, pulling her close to him and allowing his momoko to wrap around her protectively.
Tears forming around the edge of her eyes, Kagome wept, letting her confusion wash over her. She wanted him, she wanted a nice future she had envisioned in her tipsy state. She was in love with the Lord of the Western Lands.
Kissing her head softly. Sesshomaru hummed her a lullaby, once that his mother sang often when he was being difficult and didn't want to go down for bedtime.
She ceased her tears and looked up at him in wonder, she had never heard such a lovely Inu tune before. InuYasha knew a couple from his mother, but they translated poorly for she was only human.
"I have loved you for a long time, but denied it to myself, especially once you were married" he confessed breathlessly.
Kagome was surprised but slowly she thought back to the few encounters they had when they were journeying across Japan to kill Naraku, it began to make sense.
"You would never interfere in my happiness and I had met and befriended InuYasha first" she replied knowing when he was talking about…. A long time ago.
He caressed her cheek, not trusting any more words. Were his feelings conveyed property for her to finally understand… there was only her and no one else?
Making up her mind once and for all she lifted her head as far as she could and sealed her fate with a kiss to the silly lord she loved more than she knew.
Happiness blossomed within, feelings reciprocated, Sesshoumaru's fur wrapped around her slightly tighter, not letting her go
The world felt like it spun, warmth spread once more and she gasped with a surprising jolt of pleasure.
"Sesshomaru! What have you done?" she asked, bewildered at the feeling.
"Nothing, you are feeling the effects of a highly regarded aphrodisiac it's heightening your sense of pleasure, of course, you have such strong will that no one would be able to successfully seduce you unless you want to be. Sorry, I may have enticed such feelings out of you, we can stop.
Would you like to be taken back and go to bed? You must be tired from not sleeping this morning" Sesshoumaru fussed, looking closer now at the bags forming around her tired eyes.
Feeling loved already, knowing Sesshoumaru only wanted what was best for her, he wouldn't take advantage of her vulnerable state and he knew she was exhausted from the long night so far and fighting the effects of such a strong dose for hours now. Perhaps it was the aphrodisiac talking to her but she wanted him, all of him, and to have a night full of her unfulfilled desires.
"I appreciate your concern, but I've had time to process what I want, and I want you tonight," she said with a husky, luring tone, allowing herself to feel a bit daring.
"Kagome… if I let myself indulge you, you may end up marked and permanently attached to me for eternity, there are declarations and witnesses needed to be present for a formal ceremony." he began to explain things that Rin was currently going through.
"Would it be such a scandal that you would never recover from? Your father I'm sure didn't go through the proper formalities with InuYasha's mother I'm sure" she added fuel to the fire.
He glared at her with that comment, for it had hurt both his mother's and his reputation amongst the demon society. Plus it was underhanded of her to say it.
"Sorry… that was a little uncalled for but you get my point? I have thought about this and I don't want to bother going through the formal stuff like Rin, besides it already seems like Miyuki has gotten her claws into you politically speaking as well as physical" she pointed to a small indent on his right wrist, which was so faint due to how fast they healed.
"Kagome, you are such a minx" Sesshoumaru commentary dryly but enjoying the banter between them as she was intoxicated and aroused, and he was trying to understand the consequences of her desires.
"Indulge me Milord… " she purred as she kissed the crook of his slender neck.
Rin was tired, she had been active all night and after she danced with one of his lesser lords, Itsuki insisted she was done dancing tonight.
He forced her to take a seat on a bench on the perimeter of the dancefloor, worried about her feet.
He gently propped her against the rock wall comfortably, before kneeling down and lifting her leg to reach her geta which had bled through her tabi socks near her heel.
He hissed slightly knowing he told her earlier to let him know if she was getting tired but she clearly ignored that command.
Rin looked at him sheepishly.
"I'm sorry milord… I was just having so much fun dancing all night and ignore your warning" she explained.
He sighed, she was going to keep him busy for years to come if she enjoyed balls the way that she did.
"Rin… please let me look after them," he asked indicating to her now worn feet.
"Of course my lord, we should retire for the night, I'll ask Jaken to bring up some supplied and you can wrap my feet for bed" she replied smiling at him.
Lifting her bridal style, Itsuki walked over to Lady Narumi and the other lord's bidding them goodnight on both of their behalf, everyone bowed to the couple as they left, the festival now concluded.
Walking down the moonlit hallway, quiet as Rin began to doze in his arms, he glanced at an open window facing East, hearing familiar sounds he hoped to hear enough of when it was time for them to mate…
Smirking he knew that lovely voice, seems like the Lady of Edo had finally captured her Lord in a mating dance…
Easing her out of her nap, remorsefully.
"My Lady… lets' get you to bed, we are going to be having to deal with some drama in the late morning, I'm assuming," he told her mirthfully.
Rin cocked her head to the side in confusion.
"I don't understand what…" She began to say, Itsuki hushed her with his finger and answered her unasked question.
"There is a new Lady of the Western Lands… and it isn't Lady Mitsuki:" he revealed lightheartedly.
Rin understood what that meant even if she couldn't sense it as he could.
"Is it Kagome-sama?" she asked hopefully.
"Yes it is" he answered happily.
Sighing with a sigh of relief, it didn't change the situation with the Northern lands, but she was super glad that both of them had come to an understanding and now would be happy together even though there were still some bumps in the road ahead, they would find a way through she just knew it.
Arriving in her wing of the fortress, Jaken appeared silently.
"Lord Itsuki, what can I do for you this evening?" he asked bowing.
"Fetch me some cloth badges, water and some ointment for Lady Rin, I'm going to wrap her feet before bed and then return to my room, and please get Lady Rikka to task e careful look at them in the morning" he commended swiftly, before entering her chambers.
Jaken wandered away, acting on the commend, waddling down the hallway, he winced every once and a while, hearing the loud moans here and there coming from two important people he knew quite well. They were faint given how far away they were from the fortress but he could still hear tidbits of noise coming from outside, curse their superior sense of hearing sometimes. He covered his ears, wishing they would keep it down, surely Lord Sesshoumaru knew the whole Fortress could hear them?! Minus the lowly humans….
Just before dawn, a loud howl indicated that the Lord of the Western lands had just marked his new mate.
A/N: and this concludes Rin's month-long journey to finding love and getting married. Were you rooting for Lord Itsuki like I was? Would you prefer another character? Keisuke was meh, but I mean we also didn't develop Lord Hideki much either… also we have finally reached KagomexSesshoumaru, took them long enough and well its' happily ever after with some bumps. Sidenote: if you wanted to read the "smut" version of this chapter, it is on A03. I'm not a smut writer so I gave it my best shot… the only thing I've written before was an Overwatch lesbian smut between Ashe and Mercy(you can also find that on A03 if you are interested XD)
Next week we also return to regular updates on Tuesdays, 500 or so word chapters. I write short chapters for this story on purpose because it is easier to keep updated regularly.
