Prompt: Mound
During the afternoon, Kagome roamed the gardens, clearing her thoughts and figuring out what she would do now as the new Western lady… her first obstacle was of course Miyuki and if she was already pregnant or not and what that would mean for her?
Rin appeared not long after she entered the gardens and found Kagome quite easily. For she loved to sit under a blossoming tree.
"Kagome-sama" greeted Rin bowing.
"Aw Rin, don't address me so formally please now that I guess I'm your mother figure, being hitched with Milord…" Kagome stumbled for the right words but feeling uneasy still.
"Are you not happy with Milord?" she asked, confused.
"No I am, but there is a lot to get through before we can be truly happy…" she continued.
"Ah, you mean the lady of the northern lands?" she asked bluntly.
"Yes… Lady Miyuki is my main problem, if she is indeed with child she will get first dibs on Sesshomaru whether he likes it or not… or we may have hostile relations with the North…" Kagome said dismally.
"Ah but that's' not true Milady… as she is not marked… she cannot take the title from you now but she can lay claim to being the mother of the heir, which is still quite important and is just as good as being Lady…." Rin explained wisely.
Hmm maybe this situation could be salvaged…
Sesshomaru emerged from his sour meeting with his mother and knew he created quite a mess for himself but it all led to being with Kagome so he was still satisfied.
He wanted to show her something important and sought her out. Luckily for him, she was already in the garden conversing with what appeared to be Rin.
"If I may steal her? I have something I wanted to show her" Sesshomaru said as he got closer to them.
"Of course, Milord" greeted Rin cheerfully, standing up and walking back to the fortress.
"Something you wanted to show me? " Kagome asked, surprised.
Sesshomaru led her deeper into the gardens until they came across a mound and a small pedestal which read.
"Here lies Lord InuYasha, 2nd son of the great dog demon Togu, hanyou and destroyer of Naruku, and husband of the legendary Shikon Miko, Kagome… may he be remembered for his glorious history and monumental victory against a common enemy of demons alike."
Kagome broke down crying after seeing InuYasha being buried properly and having a memorial.
"When… Did you do this?" she sobbed.
"After you gave me the instructions for the sword, I went and dug him up and brought him home… and made this, he should be remembered for what he did and who he was…" Sesshomaru explained.
"Thank you…" Kagome said feeling better about him, and less guilty of how she left his body during the pandemic they were currently going through.
Sesshomaru put his hand to rest on her shoulder as Kagome grieved her friend, husband and love of her life up until them.
A/N: Yes, :( the rest of the gang deserved better burial as well but at least they are together until the end of time... This is a nice thing to show her that even Sesshomaru was respecting InuYasha's Legacy after he died and that he mattered.
