Sesshoumaru cancelled all of his remaining appointments that day and escorted Kagome outside the fortress walls and into the wilderness, he summoned Ah Uh and they left, heading in whichever direction.
Kagome waited till she thought they were far enough away, before letting him know her true feelings and how she felt insecure.
For some good measure she rapped on his chest, to get her point across.
Sesshoumaru listened to her words, felt her useless thumps on his chest and searched for somewhere safe and somewhat private.
Landing Ah Uh, he scooped her up and carried her into a nearby meadow.
"I'm sorry" he told her.
Kagome stopped her rant and ministerial and waited.
"If what Lord Kiyoshi says is true, I will have to honor it. I don't have to give up on you to satisfy them but at the very least I will have to ensure Miyuki's reputation is intact and she will not lose favor with other demons if she decides to take on a future mate." he explained.
"What is the mother of the heir? And how does it rank compared to me?" Kagome decided to ask, the more she understood their situation the more she could weather the upcoming storm.
"It is a unique rank where demons who procreate but did not mate can lay claim to a child in a political sense. Typical second or later born child of Lord rank may claim heirs if it is likely they will inherit the older sibling's status because they died or are ill." Sesshoumaru answered.
"Ah I see… and in this case because I'm human, and we would only have hanyou's this ensures that the Western InuYoukai clan will continue with a full blooded heir and save your alliance, but what of our future children? Will you treat them like you did with InuYasha?" she demanded
"They will have to learn survival and weapon skills from a young age, and will have to study our customs and history. They will be treated better than InuYasha as I could not take him under my wing being my half sibling. Things would have been different if father had lived and been able to protect him but alas he died, I did what I could for him by making him gain strength with our battles. I know it doesn't seem that way since we clashed so many times before, but if InuYasha had fallen under my blade, he was not worth being named our father's son…"
Kagome, winced knowing this was the way things were with demons. She could only hope that she produced strong willed children and the crap they would have to endure to survive.
Sesshoumaru pulled her close and wrapped his momoko around them, he knew this would be hard for her to understand as well as his kind, not because she was human but because she came from a different time era.
Kagome leaned into him and sighed, she would need some time and comfort but she would adapt.
