Lily gasped for air, and between each struggling breath she let out a heavy sob. It was hard for her to deal with both the physical and emotional pain going through her body.
"What do you need love, talk to us." The nurse by her side asked her, trying to calm her down.
"I don't want him to go, I don't want him to go!" Lily weeped.
"Don't worry petal, the daddy always stays in the room," the nurse smiled over as James, who was holding Lily's hand. This muggle obviously had no clue what was going on, why would he expect her too. James sheepishly smiled back at her, then looked sorrowfully back at Lily, he whispered to her, "It's okay Lily, it's okay. There's no way he'd come to a muggle hospital, we made a good choice. I promise you Lily, no one is taking Harry away."
"You can't- you can't promise that!" Lily choked on her own tears.
What was supposed to be a happy day, the birth of their first son, was actually filled with anxiety and grief. The muggle nurses did everything they could to calm Lily down, but to no avail. What was causing this couple to continue to shoot each other sad looks, making this mother wail in not only pain but grief? It all became clear about 3 months ago…

A very pregnant Lily Potter waddled her way over to the couch in her living room, sitting down with a full plate of snacks.
"I'm as big as a house!" she sighs, diving into her food.
"A pretty sexy house might I say," her husband, James Potter commented, wiggling his eyebrows.
"You're a damn liar, I don't feel sexy at all, I've gained about 20lbs!"
James placed a hand on her protruding stomach, "Who cares, as long as you're eating that means we've got a healthy boy in there baking, gonna come out big and strong!" James beamed.
"Both of us are gonna come out big," Lily joked, placing a hand atop James' on her stomach. Just then, their doorbell rang, James stood and answered it.
"Peter? What're you doing here?" James said, confused as to why his friend was there.
"I've got a message for you Potter," he smiled a sickly grin, then produced a spell to knock James out.
"James!" Lily shrieked from the couch, she looked around frantically for her wand. Peter Pettigrew came around the couch to get a look at her.
"So it's true, you are pregnant aren't you? And to keep such great news away from your friends?"
"Nobody was supposed to know…" Lily said, sinking into the couch, holding her belly.
"And why is that? What are you two hiding from?" Peter squeaked, stretching his fingers as he looked at Lily's stomach. By the look on Lily's face, he had his answer.
"Me? Just me?" he asked.
"Theres rumors going about Wormtail… Rumors about you too. We're just being safe." Lily admitted.
Wormtail breathed greedily, still looking at her stomach. "Guess I'm here to tell you they are right, The Dark Lord rises! More powerful than ever!"
"And what's that got to do with me?" Lily was slowly slipping her hand between the couch cushions.
"You've got something he wants…"
"Which is what?"
Peter said nothing, merely continued staring at her belly, "You're due soon now aren't you, right on time!" Lily fully understood what was going on now at that moment.
"I'LL KILL YOU BEFORE YOU TOUCH MY CHILD!" She screamed, whipping out her wand from the couch and sending a wave or orange at Wormtail, this cut him across the face, making him bleed profusely. He screamed in pain, James groaned from the floor by the door. Peter looked at the armed Lily and realized he would soon be outmatched. He gripped his face and pointed to her, "As the seventh month dies, that baby will be ours! This is the era of the Heir!" before disappearing into thin air.

"I. Want. To. Hold. It!" Lily groaned, she looked at the clock, it was still July 31st, if she could just hold back her birth, then her baby would not be born 'as the seventh month dies' and he would be safe.
"Oh no mummy, you've already started to crown, give us one big push!" The OBGYN told her.
"NOOOO!" Lily screamed, but her shout was nearly drowned out by the loud cries from the baby she had just produced.
"Its a healthy baby boy!" The doctor smiled, holding the newborn up to show Lily and James. Suddenly, all the bad feelings they'd had disappeared as they saw their son. "Healthy set of lungs he's got," James smiled "My boy."
The doctors took the young baby away to be cleaned and tended to Lily as James filled out the birth certificate 'Harry James Potter,' as he and Lily decided on as soon as they found out they were having a boy. It was about one hour before they saw their son again, they got to hold little Harry between them, admiring the life they had made. As soon as he opened his eyes, he flashed them huge emerald colored irises.
"At least he got something from me" Lily laughed, as they had just been joking about how Harry looked exactly like James. They spent the night with the baby, no one showed up besides doctors to check on the baby and mother and teach Lily how to nurse him. At about 8am on August 1st, baby Harry got a slight case of the hiccups.
"Peculiar, here like he take him to the NICU to get checked out." a male nurse offered, face covered by a mask.
"Its just a fit," Lily explained, "he probably just needs to be burped." But the nurse quickly took Harry from her arms and started walking out the door.
"Now, now Miss, it will only be a moment… or forever."
"What did you just say?" James asked, standing from his seat, heart pounding. The male nurse opened the door, then turned to face the couple, he removed his mask, his face began to bubble and warp, as thought polyjuice potion was wearing off. And sure enough, in only a moment, Peter Pettigrew was standing right there. Lily screamed, James jumped towards the man but he vanished in an instant.
"HELP! HELP! HE TOOK MY BABY!" Lily was shrieking. A couple more nurses came in, James ran out the room and into the hallway. One nurse alerted the hospital of a missing baby, but it was all no use, Peter had most likely used disapparition and was long gone by now. Lily was beside herself and needed to be retrained by four nurses. About five minutes later members of the Ministry of Magic came into the hospital and magic had been used around a bunch of muggles. Lily and James had to admit to them what had happened, what they had been keeping from their government. The members got busy erasing the memories of every muggle in the hospital and escorting James and Lily to St. Mungos to heal and rest and they got busy trying to track down Peter Pettigrew.
But he was long gone, to a place nobody would ever be able to find.

Voldemort was waiting at his home, hidden in the middle of the world. He paced his dining room, curing Wormtail's breath daring him to mess this up. This was probably the most important part of his lifelong mission, and if done right, everything he had ever worked for would be a reality. He looked down at his table and by the time he looked up again, Wormtail was standing before him, a tuft of blankets in his arms.
"I got him, my Lord, I got him!" Wormtail cheered, looking ridiculous in a pair of hospital scrubs that were far too large for him.
Voldemort's eyes lit up in fire, "hand him to me."
Wormtail lightly lifted the baby over to his master. Voldemort held the child and removed the blanket from his face. A carbon copy of James' Potter peaked its little head from out the blankets and looked around with Lily's eyes. Voldemort studied the child, yes, this was the one he needed, this is the child he would need to rule.
He whispered to the baby "Hello… Heir."
