The next day, Sesshoumaru sent out an urgent call for his nobles to assemble at the fortress, he needed to straighten out everyone's grievances and become a united force if they didn't want more problems down the road with their northern allies.
Kagome helped prepare some documents for the session where she kept Jaken busy running between the office and the library for references she needed. She sent Reiko on a mission to the kitchens for refreshments and anything to help Sesshoumaru's energy levels. Demons didn't sleep as often as humans but she swore that he hadn't slept since they mated… and it was beginning to worry her.
Another soldier knocked and announced that the final noble had arrived and they were all waiting for him in the assembly hall, off the entrance of the castle. Sesshoumaru dismissed him and asked Reiko to quickly bring Kagome some more formal kimono and accessories, she was already wearing a light layer but required the rest of the outfit, they couldn't keep their guests waiting long.
20 minutes later, and fully dressed, they walked down to the main hallway hand in hand, prepared to face their somewhat uncertain future.
On their last flight of stairs, Kagome grew dizzy all of sudden and started to sway, Sesshoumaru grabbed her and steadied her weak form.
"Is everything alright?" he asked her in hushed tones.
Shaking herself, it passed and she nodded slightly wondering what that was. Maybe he wasn't the only one who had lost sleep as of late?
Pulling herself upright, Kagome smiled at him and prepared for multiple strong demonic auras in the nearby space.
Sesshoumaru entered the room first and introduced the lords and ladies of his court to his new wife and Lady of the Western Lands, the famed Shikon Miko Higurashi Kagome.
Gazes crawled over her form slowly before a majority of them lightly bowed in her direction as she then say next to Sesshoumaru to begin the conclave.
Several lords stood abruptly when Sesshoumaru disclosed his intention that he would allow his pure Inu bloodline to merge with their distant cousin of the North and allow the heir to be raised by its mother away from their homeland and customs.
"Milord, please consider the ramifications of your decision?! The Lady Miyuki could sour the futures heir against us and we wouldn't have another one to fight against if they plan in destroying us from within…." Lord Daisuke pleaded.
He received a glare for that comment.
"It is true I may only have half-demon offspring from this point on but do no claim that Lord Toga is of weak pedigree… InuYasha is proof of this and I know if he were still among us, he could take on you all" Sesshoumaru argued back.
"Traditionally, only secondary children are permitted to live off the lands, Milord you know this from childhood…. The heir must remain here in the west" said another Lady standing as well.
"For the sake of peace, I am willing to change that… Lady Nagisa, We do not know yet if the North's claim is true. But if it is I do need us to agree together how we will change our long historic ways."Sesshoumaru declared to them all.
A silence followed and it was agreed that he was right, for the sake of peace, they would follow their Lord Sesshoumaru into an unknown future of change, Hanyou's and possibly the last full-blooded Inu-daiyoukai of the great dog general.
A/N: and we continue on the road of youkai politics, Lord Kiyoshi, Miyuki and maybe even Naoki return to the western fortress and what will they want to secure their interests with Miyuki gaining power as much as Kagome? What illness and ailments is Kagome have? Find out more soon :)
