Prompt: Ruminate
Sighing, Kagome lay in her bed on the fourth day of training. She was slowly gaining a bit of ground against her mentor but Narumi was harsh and unyielding. Yesterday she split her lip and Sesshoumaru demanded she gets one rest day. No use in battering her if the real threat hadn't even arrived yet and he was tired of her pain increasing by the day, he could mentally handle it being a warrior for hundreds of years but his beast whined and worried about her anguish and inner cries of not being as resilient as him.
For the first bit in the morning, they laid together as he entangled himself with her and rubbed ointment on her minor cuts. She felt more at ease with him and in her heart, she knew that this was just the beginning, she had chosen a difficult path and she didn't regret her choice but she did wish demons could be a bit less ruthless and bloodthirsty sometimes….
As the afternoon rolled in, Sesshoumaru needed to depart to deal with business as usual but promised he would return in the evening as soon as he could get away.
Kagome was alone after Rikka checked on her every few hours and it was the first time in a while that she didn't have to worry about how she carried herself in public and her new role as Sesshoumaru's human miko wife…
Thinking back from the time she graduated high school and was granted passage back to the feudal era for good, she thought she was going to live her feudal fairy tale with her best friend and first love the half-demon hero InuYasha surrounded by their friends and fellow villagers, she didn't think that was going to be so short-lived once smallpox emerged from the mainland.
She chose to come back for love and although she ended up with true tragedy she did end up finding herself happily ever after with Sesshoumaru. She thought back to when they first met and how she stood up to him terrified inside that he was going to kill her but she needed to defend poor InuYasha who seemed to not have the strength either to stand up against his brother. She didn't understand Sesshoumaru's intentions until the first time InuYasha fell to his demon's blood and turned into a monster…. Sesshoumaru could have easily overpowered him but he never did. For a split second, she even saw the awe and fear in his eyes, never seeing what faults a half-demons went through.
Also though she loved him, some part of her felt like she betrayed InuYasha… she knew he would have wanted her to be happy but still maybe she had loved Sesshoumaru a long time ago but never saw it till more recently.
Getting up from the bed she wandered over to her large balcony and sat down on the left side before letting her emotions get the best of her.
Sometime later while she began to doze from all the tears… she felt a cool hand on her chin and she looked up to see a translucent form of her past husband, InuYasha…
A/N: O.o ah what will Inuyasha say?
