Chapter 57 Tullborn Gym Battle
After getting back to Tullborn City, they decide to go back to False Fortune Teller's place, as what they experienced in the Dark Dungeon is actually what she has predicted.
Fable: (Surprised) This one happened, too? I actually have heard of that Litwick before. There have been reports of a talking Litwick in people's dreams. Some people think it was made up by a bunch of pranksters, but my sister Mable has seen it.
Ash: Wait, your sister is the Marble collector?
Fable: Yeah. Now that's three fortunes. They say the third time's a charm, but it seems you've broken the rule. I'm 99% convinced that this isn't luck, and that any fortune I give you will come true. 99 isn't 100, though. Let's try another one to bump that up. So for your next "false" fortune...You will be part of a ritual to summon a Pokemon. This Pokemon won't be a Legendary Pokemon or any species related to magic at all that you might conventionally associate with summoning. As always, be sure to tell me if this happens.
Lillie: (Both Ash and Lillie nod) I wonder what does it mean...
Ash: I don't know. Ritual...that sounds like something weird.
The next place is Tinder Village, as they find the man with the Cyndaquil.
Man: Cyndaquil came running back here. What happened?
Ash and Lillie explain their encounter with Guzzlord and how it scares Cyndaquil to him.
Man: So it was attacked in the Dark Dungeon? That's not exactly the best place to be at. It's hard to see in there, and you never know what could come from anywhere. I think Cyndaquil would be alright with someone like you as a trainer, though it seems to have taken a liking to you.
Then they obtain the Cyndaquil as Ash throws the Pokeball and captures it.
They also get back to Tullborn, and they find a lot of clubs on the way, each of the clubs will give them a Marble after defeating them.
The first club is called Team Rock-It, it is a rock band that tries to rock the world using Rock Type Pokemon. The second club is called Team Awkward, a club in which everyone is awkward and wants to make friends. The third club is called Team Swagma, which uses Fire Type Pokemon and saying swags.
The fourth club is called the Guardians of the Galaxy, and they have a Grookey and a Zigzagoon pretending to be Groot and Rocket Racoon, and the leader is Starmie Lord. The fifth club is called Team Palm, and they have a lot of Exeggutors, Alolan form ones. The sixth club is called Team Scare, and they are scaring the ones that enter the place.
The seventh club is called Team Skill, which is a rapping group just like Team Skull, and the leader seems to recognize Ash as the champion of Alola. The eighth one is Shiny Club, which has a lot of Shiny Pokemon.
Lillie: This is the final club.
Ash: Yeah.
As they enter the final one, they feel like they are being watched, so they check the furniture and find Ninja Boy Walt under the table.
Ninja Walt: How did you know I was hiding under the table? You're sharp! (Comes out of the place) I am taking some inspiration from Hoenn's Trick Master for my hiding places! Hi Ash and Lillie! I did what that dentist guy suggested and started a club here!
Ash: That's great, but what about the other club members?
Ninja Walt: I don't have any members yet because I just started it. But if you can still beat me, I'll let you be the first!
He uses a full Pokemon team, with Ninjask, Crobat, Sableye, Scizor, Accelgor, and Greninja. But Ash and Lillie manage to beat him with ease.
Ninja Walt: Four times in a row! (Recalls Greninja) I guess I still have a long way to go! But I promised, so now you're honorary ninjas! I'll give you this for being the first and the second members!
They are given a Marble, and then Ninja Walt also tells them there is someone wanting to see them at the Weather Wonderland Rainy section, so they go there and they find a Froakie who wants to join their team since they are the honorary ninjas.
Once they are done, they find Draga still at the entrance of the Dark Dungeon as she is waiting for them.
Draga: I heard about what happened at the Underwater Hotel...it sounds scary, but at least you two are okay. I'll go unlock the gym. You can battle me whenever you're ready. In the northeast of the city, just pass through the gate! (Leaves)
Ash: (Turns to Lillie) I guess it is time we go to the gym.
Lillie: I agree.
Once they arrive at the gym, they are surprised to see that it is a castle.
Ash: This looks like a castle to me...
Lillie: I agree...it is so big and gorgeous...
As they enter the place, they find six doors that are unlocked and one door that is locked, they assume that the door that was locked leads to Draga.
Lillie: Where are those doors lead to?
Ash: I don't know...for some reason I feel like it is some sort of puzzle...
All the rooms in the doors are the same, as there is only a Hydreigon statue and the answering panel.
Ash: Let's see...FROM HEADACHES, TO HEAVINESS, TO THE HEAVENS, I ACHIEVE MY DREAMS AND THEN WENT FURTHER BEYOND. OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?
Lillie: I see...those are the quizzes for the Dragon Type Pokemon!
Ash: And I think the answer might be Salamence, since Bagon wants to learn to fly, and when it evolves into a Salamence, he can fly now.
After writing down the answer, they light up the candles of the place, meaning that they passed the first quiz.
Lillie: I get it...so we have to finish six quizzes related to Dragons, and that's how we reach Draga.
Ash: Then let's go to the next one.
Lillie: (Get to the next statue in the next room) IF I HAVE TO BATTLE TWO ON ONE...I WON'T FLEE. BECAUSE BATTLING ME, IS LIKE BATTLING THREE. OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?
Ash: This is a hard one...At first, I was thinking about Hydreigon...since it has three heads. But the first part makes me reconsider it...I think the answer might be Dragapult, as its horns keep the small Dreepy inside.
After passing the second one, they go to the third one.
Lillie: I'M NOT A WATER TYPE, BUT I LOVE THE RAIN! I'M BOTH SLIMY AND SMILEY. OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?
Ash: Simple...the answer is Goodra. I have one in my team, so that's how I know.
After the answer, they pass, and they get to the fourth one.
Lillie: I CAN BECOME SOUR OR SWEET, DEPENDING ON WHICH TREAT I EAT. I COULD FLY IN THE SKIES, OR BAKE DELICIOUS PIES. OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?"
Ash: This is very easy, the answer is Applin. As you give a Tart Apple, it evolves into Flapple, and the Sweet Apple makes it evolve into an Appletun.
The fourth one is also correct, so that they go to the fifth one.
Lillie: I AM THE GREATEST POKEMON IN THE ORIGINAL HALL. I CAN BE YOUR HM CARRIER. WITH CUT, FLY, STRENGTH, SURF, AND WATERFALL. OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?
Ash: I think this one is a Dragonite. I think I remember he can do any kind of stuff like these.
Lillie: One last question. (Get to the last room and check the quiz) THE BORDERS OF THE PLANET, ARE MY RESIDING PLACE, VERY FEW HAVE EVER SEEN MY FACE. BUT ARISE FROM THE BATTLE OF SEA AND LAND, I SHALL ARISE TO MAKE THE FINAL STAND! OF WHICH DRAGON, DO I SPEAK?
Ash: This final one is a hard one, but I think it is Rayquaza.
After finishing the quizzes, they go to Draga's room, and she is standing there on the battlefield.
Lillie: So, this is my gym. Er, it was originally my aunt Ryoko's, and I got it from her after she resigned as the Dragon leader. Dragon-types are usually viewed as majestic or fierce, and I think the castle fits well with that image. I don't know if I do, but hopefully, we can have a fun battle. H-here I come!
Referee: (Comes) The match between Gym Leader Draga and Challenger Ash is about to begin. Each Trainer will be using 6 Pokemon, and when one side loses all their Pokemon, the other side wins. Now please send out your Pokemon!
Draga: Aquarius!
Draga sends out her first Pokemon, which is a Kingdra.
Lillie: This time it is the zodiac signs? Interesting.
Ash decides to go for Gardevoir to battle. Draga gulps as it is a Fairy Type.
Draga: Use Smokescreen!
Draga decides to go defensive, but Gardevoir uses Psychic to drag Kingdra out of the smoke. So it goes for Hydro Pump, which takes a lot of damage to Gardevoir. But in the end, Gardevoir goes for Moonblast, which eventually knocks out Kingdra.
Draga: Capricorn, I need your help...
Draga's second Pokemon is Flygon, which causes Lillie to confuse as Capricorn is supposed to be the horned goat, but then again, this is a Dragon Type Gym after all.
Ash: I think I am going to change my Pokemon, I choose Avalugg!
As the Pokemon appears, It goes for Ice Ball on Flygon, which deals some damage.
Draga: Capricorn will be in trouble if this continues...use Dragon Tail!
Just then, the Dragon Tail hits, and Ash is forced to switch into Magnezone.
Ash: What the...now I'm at a disadvantage...
But Ash takes a deep breath as Magnezone manages to dodge the Earthquake and goes for Flash Cannon, and the Tri Attack defeats Flygon.
Draga: Oh no...I thought I could win this...Libra! You're third!
The third Pokemon is Drampa and Ash continues with Magnezone as Dragon is not good against Steel. But Drampa uses Dragon Tail again and this time it goes for Ditto, but Ditto changes into Drampa and knocks it out with the Hyper Voice and Dragon Pulse.
Ash: So far so good...
Draga: Let's see you can fight this. Scorpio!
The fourth Pokemon is Dragalge, and Ash decides to continue with Gardevoir, but Gardevoir has the damage from the Hydro Pumps from Kingdra, so it is defeated by a Sludge Bomb. Dragalge also gets hit by Gardevoir's Future Sight, so it is trying to hold on. Ash decides to go back to Ditto and changes into Dragalge, using Dragon Tail to defeat it.
Draga: Gemini!
Draga's fifth Pokemon is Goodra, using Body Slam, it makes Ditto paralyzed, and then it knocks out the Ditto with Dragon Pulse. Ash decides to go with his old Pokemon: Feraligatr, to battle.
Ash: Feraligatr, I'm counting on you, use Ice Fang!
Draga: Gemini! Toxic!
Feraligatr was about to hit Goodra until it gets poisoned by the attack, but it continues to hold on as it defeats Goodra with the Ice Beam.
Draga: You really are strong...I only have Pisces left.
The final Pokemon is Altaria named Pisces, which Lillie feels like the name suits Dracovish instead. And Ash decides to go for Kabutops to battle, but unfortunately, Kabutops is defeated by Moonblast, so Ash goes back to Avalugg and uses Blizzard to end the Pokemon battle.
Draga: Good job. (Recalls Altaria) Battling someone you know is a lot different than battling a stranger who you only met as a challenger. It was intense...but it was really fun, too! You've earned the Scale Badge!
Ash takes his tenth badge and thanks her, and then Lillie also cheers for Ash as he wins his tenth badge.
Draga: Shyness is a part of who I am. That will never change, and there's nothing wrong with it. But I think Natalie was right when she said I underestimate myself. Most of the time, it's challengers who run from me after battles. And even though I lost to you this time, I think I put up a good fight. Good luck with the rest of the league! Maybe we can go on more adventures with Natalie sometimes!
Ash: Of course.
After that, they bid farewell to the girl as they are going back to Inoset Island, trying to see where they are going next.
