Chapter 60 More Exploring

After leaving Mable's house, they get to the next location, which is the Lovely Lake. Emily and Gladion are there as they enjoy the view.

Emily: Lovely Lake really does live up to its name, doesn't it?

Just then, they notice a shadow under the water and some bubbles are floating from it.

Ash: Hey. Do you guys see that?

Just then, a person floats out of the water in a scuba diver suit, and the person is no other than the admin of Team Portal, and the same one that Ash and Lillie fight in the Underwater Hotel: Quinn.

Everyone: Quinn!

Quinn: (Takes off xyr diving gadget) Calm down. I'm not here to fight. Team Portal has no business here.

Lillie: Why are you here then? And how did you get past Aretha and Wendy?

Quinn: I didn't know they were here. I was underwater for a long time, so I've probably been here before they were. I just came here to go diving. If you haven't noticed, it's a hobby of mine. I'm not going to fight you as long as you don't start anything with me. I just lost to Ash and Lillie at the Underwater Hotel anyway. I'm not ready for round 3. By the way, nice outfit you two have there.

Lillie: Thanks?

Gladion: Fair enough. As long as you're just here to enjoy yourself, we won't tell anyone you're here.

Emily: Gladion is right. We don't need to battle Quinn. How about we battle each other? When we do need to battle Team Portal again, every bit of training will help.

Lillie: Then I'll battle you again, Emily.

Emily: Sure, I mean, I have been ready for a rematch ever since we battled at Weather Wonderland.

Her first Pokemon is Lily the Lilligant, and Lillie decides to use Braviary to battle. Braviary uses Air Slash and deals some damage to Lilligant, but Lilligant also deals damage with the Hidden Power Rock. And Lilligant uses Synthesis to heal itself. Braviary uses Crush Claw, and Lilligant uses Giga Drain to counter. In the end, Braviary uses Brave Bird to defeat Lilligant, but it is also defeated with the recoil damage.

The second Pokemon is Naomi the Ninetales, Lillie goes for Wishiwashi to battle. Wishiwashi goes into School Form and goes for Rain Dance, which harshly lowers the Fire Power. Ninetales uses Nasty Plot to raise its Special Attack, and it goes for Confuse Ray to make Wishiwashi confused. After several damages, Wishiwashi changes into its normal form, but it manages to defeat Ninetales with Hydro Pump.

The third Pokemon is Azura the Azumarill, and Lillie switches to Beedrill, using Rollout, Beedrill has a hard time aiming its attack to the Pokemon, but it uses Twineedle to poison Azumarill, and Azumarill uses Aqua Ring to counter it. In the end, both Hydro Pump and Poison Jab knock out each other.

The fourth Pokemon is Francisca the Frosmoth, and Lillie goes for Typhlosion to battle. Frosmoth goes for Quiver Dance to raise its Special Attack, and it goes for Giga Drain, which is not very effective. Typhlosion goes for Burn-Up, which makes it lose the Fire Type and also defeats Frosmoth considering it is four times weak to Fire.

The fifth Pokemon is Tyra, the Tyrantrum, and it uses Earthquake to knock out Typhlosion, so Lillie goes for Alcremie as her next Pokemon, using Play Rough, it manages to deal a lot of damage to Tyrantrum. Tyrantrum uses Head Smash, with the Rock Head ability, it doesn't take recoil damage. But Alcremie still defeats it with the Dazzling Gleam.

And the final Pokemon is Lana the Lopunny. Lillie goes for Heracross to battle. Heracross takes a lot of damage because of Return, but Heracross uses Reversal to defeat it.

Emily: A great battle as always! (Recalls Lana) If we keep going like this, I'm sure we'll be able to overcome anything!

Ash: You're right about that, and that was a great battle as well.

Lillie: (Smiles) Thanks, Ash.

Emily: On another note...It's been a while since we went someplace just to go there, hasn't it? We've been traveling at our own pace, and usually, we're ahead of you. I'm sure the sailors will be finished patrolling Inoset soon. So after we battle Wendy, why don't we go to the Sea Star Society together?

Ash: Wait, you mean the Sea Star Society? I've been wanting to meet the Sea Stars ever since we arrived at Ceolis.

Quinn: To get to the Sea Star Society, you'll need to go through Ocean Coast. That's where I was born, and where I learned to swim and dive. I've been to Sea Star Society many times. If you want, I can show you around Ocean Coast. I won't go with you down to the Sea Star Society, though.

Gladion: Why not?

Quinn: I'm all over the news now. They might think Team Portal is planning an attack if I go, and I'd rather not cause any anxiety for them by going.

Emily: Part of me wonders if we can trust you...but you do all have lives outside of Team Portal, as Barker told us.

Quinn: Team Portal is trying to lay low. We've never wanted to be in the public eye if we can avoid it. We've been ordered to just go about our day-to-day lives for now until the panic settles down.

Lillie: Alright...I guess it's fine. We'll meet you at the Ocean Coast, then.

Quinn: Then I'll see you when you get there.

After that, they leave while Emily and Gladion decide to head to the gym. But for Ash and Lillie, the two of them decide to look around. They find that in the water, there are Wailmer, Dratini, and by using the Rods, there are Remoraid, Goldeen, Seaking, and Bruxish.

As they dive underwater, they find a Mudkip as they interact with it.

Mudkip: So i herd u like mudkipz?

Ash and Lillie can only nod as Mudkip decides to join their team. By battling the Pokemon in the water, they manage to evolve it into a Swampert in the end. After getting back to the surface, they also notice a tree in front of them.

Ash: Hey...this is Xerneas' tree...what is it doing here?

Lillie: I don't know...but maybe we will be seeing Xerneas after we come back?

Ash: Maybe.

After that, they leave the Lovely Lake to go to the Tower of Heracross. But as they are there, they find a woman standing in front of an Ultra Beast Buzzwole.

Arnalda: Ash! Lillie! I heard a lot about you from Triston.

Ash: (Confused) Who are you?

Arnalda: My name's Arnalda. Like Triston, I'm also a member of the Elite 4. I specialize in Fighting-types. The Tower of Heracross is where I began my training after moving to Ceolis. Back then, Heracross was the only known Bug/Fighting Type Pokemon. It was still until recently when we learned about Buzzwole and Pheromosa. I have a preference towards bulky Fighting-types specifically, so I've started to raise Buzzwole.

Lillie: Okay...

Arnalda: If you don't mind, how about being this one's practice partner?

Ash and Lillie are surprised as they are offered a chance to face the Buzzwole, so they use Pidgeot to battle as Flying is 4 times effective against the Pokemon, and in the end, Pidgeot manages to defeat it with ease.

Arnalda: It seems like you've earned Buzzwole's respect. I think it wants to go with you!

Just then, Buzzwole gives them the Beast Ball, just like the other Ultra Beasts.

Arnalda: You two are interesting trainers! It is a shame that Lillie isn't going to challenge the League, but I hope I'll see you at the Pokemon League one day!

After nodding, they go to the gym as they see the same maid girl standing in front of the gym.

Grape: Wendy has returned. Emily went ahead to challenge her, but I was hoping you might battle me before going into the gym?

Ash: I assume you are another one of the people that are related to Lemon, Lime, Orange, and Cherry?

Grape: My name is Grape. Well, it's not my real name. We prefer to keep our professional and personal lives separate, so we won't tell you our real names. But I'm sure you have an idea of who my friends are from the name Grape! I'll be your fifth opponent! And this is my first Pokemon, August!

The first Pokemon for Grape is Grumpig, so Ash goes for Absol to battle.

Lillie: So your Pokemon are nicknamed after Months...

Grumpig uses Teeter Dance to make Absol confused, and it is using Rest and Snore to deal damage to Absol. But Absol manages to snap it out and defeats the Pokemon with Night Slash and Mega Horn.

The second Pokemon is Shiinotic named June, and Ash switches to Crobat to battle this one. It uses Spore to make Crobat fall asleep, and it uses Dream Eater to deal a lot of damage. But Crobat wakes up in the end and finishes it with Cross Poison.

The third Pokemon is the Cloyster named December, and Ash decides to continue using Crobat, only to be defeated by Icicle Crash. The Skill Link ability always makes the moves hit five times, so when Ash sends out Pikachu, it uses Rock Blast a lot of times as well, but Pikachu eventually defeats it with a Thunderbolt.

The fourth Pokemon is Venomoth named May, and Ash goes for Lycanroc, much to Ash's surprise is that it is capable of learning Giga Drain, and it eventually defeats Lycanroc in the end, forcing Ash to use Charizard and goes for the Flamethrower, knocking it out, but Charizard also takes some damage by Psychic with the boost from Quiver Dance.

The fifth Pokemon is Mienshao named February, and Ash goes for Gardevoir for this Pokemon, but the U-Turn causes the Pokemon to switch into the final Pokemon, which is Mismaguis named October. It uses Shadow Ball and Majestic Fire to knock out Gardevoir, so Ash sends out Absol to battle. Absol uses Night Slash on the Pokemon, but it is also able to use Dazzling Gleam. but in the end, Absol still defeats the Pokemon with the help of Perish Song while switching into Charizard.

For the final Mienshao, Charizard uses Air Slash and it deals a lot of damage, but Mienshao is using Knock Off to deal more damage as well. In the end, it is defeated by Flamethrower.

Grape: I accept defeat with dignity. (Recalls Mienshao) You certainly live up to the reputation the others have built up for you! The truth is...I wasn't here just to stand in front of the door and tell visitors Wendy was out. Gym Leaders usually lock the doors to their gyms when they're away. In the beginning, you really did just happen to bump into us through a series of coincidences. But now we've chosen spots to wait for you at.

Lillie: Really? So we are famous around your group, I assume?

Grape: You aren't the first trainer we've had do this challenge, but you're definitely the most interesting." Grape says, "That's not just my personal opinion, we all think so! Most people don't make it this far. You still have two left, though, so don't get ahead of yourself! Blueberry is waiting for you in Celium Park at the Sea Star Society!

After she leaves, Ash and Lillie decide to head inside the gym to see what this place has to offer.

Here is another chapter, and as you can see, Ash battles the fifth member of the idols, Grape, and the next chapter is going to be the Gym, but I assure that before the Gym battle, there is another important battle in the next chapter.
