He hoisted her up with an effortless tug, sending Kagome flying to her feet. She stumbled, her other hand grabbing his upper arm to stabilize herself. He sniffed, then extracted his arm from her gasp and pulled his cuff back down over his markings.
"Thanks," Kagome chirped, then skirted past him to capture her errant cat. He followed, snatching the still-yapping pup's leash from the ground. Buyo presented a more difficult challenge; the cat had ensconced itself deep in the shelf, buried behind bedding and toys. With a sigh, she started removing the cat's layers of protection one by one.
