1989 - Hogsmeade (3rd person)
Dusk was beginning to settle over the magical village of Hogsmeade. The village, usually being crowded with witches and wizards, had been strangely quiet lately. Even the sweets shop Honeydukes, a popular hangout spot for students from Hogwarts, remained empty.
Suddenly a lone figure apparated on the quiet streets. A number of shopkeepers looked up hopefully, before being disappointed as the figure walked past them, towards the entrance to the Three Broomsticks. Making his way through the double doors leading into the pub, the man looked around to find a table. Finally, in the dim light of the pub, the man's features were finally visible. He was a tall, thin man, sporting long silver hair falling past his waist, and a large silver beard.
"Albus over here," A voice called from the corner of the room. The voice belonged to Minerva McGonagall, Deputy Headmistress and the transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts. "We got your message and came immediately." Excluding Professor McGonagall, seated around the table were Severus Snape, Filius Flitwick, Pomona Sprout, Sybill Trelawney, and various other professors from Hogwarts.
Albus walked over to the table. "What I am about to tell you right now is not for others to hear," He warned in a low voice. "Madam Rosmerta, can we have a private room, please?" He asked, addressing the owner of the pub.
"Of course professor," Madam Rosmerta said, waving her hand towards a room located at the back of the pub. The teachers quickly got up and hurried into the room. Entering last, Dumbledore closed the door behind him, before placing an imperturbable charm on the door.
"So what is it you wanted to talk about Albus?" Professor McGonagall questioned.
"About Lord Voldemort," Dumbledore answered gravely.
"Must you say his name, Dumbledore?" Professor Sprout asked, wincing.
"Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself," Dumbledore answered, looking pointedly at the other professor.
Professor Sprout flushed but didn't argue.
"What did you want to discuss, Albus," Professor McGonagall asked again.
Albus regarded the other professors gravely. "I'm sure you have all heard of the latest disappearances," He stated, lacing his fingers together in front of him.
"Yes but- surely they weren't caused by him?" Professor McGonagall asked worriedly.
"Well Professor McGonagall," Dumbledore answered, "I'm afraid they were."
"That can't be, Dumbledore," Professor Flitwick squeaked. "Surely he couldn't have gotten so powerful so quickly."
"This is why I have called you all here today. We must put a stop to Voldemort's atrocities," Dumbledore said calmly.
"How though?" Professor Snape questioned.
"The Order of the Phoenix?" Professor McGonagall asked. "I could contact Kingsley Shacklebolt, The Longbottoms, the Potters, a few others."
"I agree. We could make a small army and take the fight directly to the dark lord," Professor Sinistra said, nodding her head in agreement.
Dumbledore sighed sadly. "The order is busy with other jobs. They have been spread too thin," He stated. "Shacklebolt and Moody are guarding the Minister of Magic, Lily is pregnant and it would be unfair for us to go to her and James for help, most of the others are guarding Diagon Alley and other magical locations, and we cannot desert our positions at Hogwarts."
"What else can we do then," Professor McGonagall asked, looking at Dumbledore apprehensively.
"What about Sally Jackson? I remember she was a close friend of theirs while at school," Professor Flitwick asked Excitedly. Sally, excelling in charms, had been one of his favorite students.
"Sally is just one witch," Dumbledore argued. "Despite having powerful magical capabilities, it won't be enough for us to change the tide of war in our favor. Even so, we haven't been in touch with her for months."
"So what do you think we should do, Albus?" McGonagall asked.
"We must be able to match his armies with our own," Dumbledore said. " That means we have to recruit more capable wizards into the order. I have put together a list of potential candidates." Dumbledore spread a small roll of parchment onto the table. "This contains the names of witches and wizards with the potential to last against the dark arts of the death eaters."
"But Professor," Snape said with a curt nod at the list. "Regardless of who's on this list, I doubt any of them have the strength we need to go against the Dark Lord himself."
"That's right, which is why I must be the one to fight Voldemort," Dumbledore said. "I will have to defeat him myself."
"That's suicide," Professor Dippet said, "The dark lord has powers we cannot imagine."
"You forget that Dumbledore was the only person Voldemort was ever afraid of. He would retreat rather than facing Dumbledore and being defeated," Snape said, glaring at the other assembled teachers.
"Yes but-" Professor McGonagall began to argue.
Suddenly, She was cut off by Professor Trelawney, who sprawled forward onto the table, arching her back as though she had been struck by lightning. The others quickly got up out of their chairs and began to make their way to her side before dumbledore stopped them. "No wait," He said cautiously. "If this is what I think it is-"
Dumbledore was interrupted mid-sentence by a gasp from Professor Trelawney. She suddenly sat up straight and green mist started pouring from her eyes and mouth and oozing from her body. Looking straight at the other teachers, she started to speak, but her voice wasn't her own. She spoke in a raspy voice, gagging as though she was finding it difficult to breathe.
With great difficulty, she finally choked out her words, as more and more mist started swirling around her.
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches," she spoke, eliciting gasps from the teachers around her. "Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies..."
"That means...the end of July," Professor Sprout said. "But how can a baby defeat-"
"Sshh, let her finish," The others broke in.
"and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal," She continued, "but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not..."
Professor McGonagall looked questioningly at Dumbledore, who only smiled in return.
Professor Trelawney Retched again, before spewing out the rest. "And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies," She finished. The room fell silent for a few moments.
All at once, the green mist dissipated. "Hmm, did something happen?" She questioned in her normal voice.
Dumbledore cleared his throat. "I believe you just gave us a prophecy. One telling about the fall of the Dark Lord."
Instantly the room erupted into conversation.
"How can someone who isn't even born yet be the one to defeat You Know Who?"
"Who is the prophecy even talking about?"
"What if Voldemort finds out about this prophecy?"
"SILENCE," Dumbledore yelled looking around the room. "We do not know who the prophecy refers to yet. We must hold on until the one mentioned is found and properly trained. Until then, word of this prophecy is not to leave this room."
"Of course," The professors said. "No one speaks of this outside of this room."
"Good," Dumbledore said, nodding at the others. "I have some other business to take care of, and then I will meet you all at Hogwarts," he said before swishing his cloak and apparating out of the pub.
Muttering amongst themselves, the remaining teachers got up and made their way to the doors, thinking all the while about the prophecy. Severus Snape fell behind and ran undetected into the shadows, before disappearing into the dark.
1989 Malfoy Manor (3rd person)
It was a cold, gloomy night in Wiltshire. The rain pelted against the concrete floor. The clouds shook with lightning, and winds buffeted around the trees. In the distance, the driveway leading up to a large manor could be seen. The manor seemed devoid of any life, as though it had been abandoned years ago.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning flashed, illuminating the front doors of the manor, and a figure in a dark cloak appeared in front of them. Looking around, he rapped 3 fists on the door. A few seconds later, it was opened by a tall woman with long, thick black hair. She had thin lips, heavy-lidded eyes, and a prominent jaw.
"Ahhh, how nice of you to finally show up Snape," she jeered.
"I am here to see the dark lord, Bellatrix," Snape said monotonously. "I have important information for him that he would like to hear immediately."
Bellatrix smirked before beckoning Snape to follow her. She led him up the stair and through a hallway leading into a large room. At the other end of the room stood a small throne. The throne was made of bones and embedded with precious Jewels. Seated on the throne was a tall man with a pale, white face. He had red eyes, and cat-like slits for pupils, as well as slits for his nostrils. Around his neck curled a giant green snake, easily 12 feet long, hissing softly at him as he entered the room. Standing to the sides of the room were other figures in robes, all kneeling to the man on the throne.
Severus Snape walked up to the man and knelt in front of him. "Ahh Severus," the man said. "I'm glad you could make it. What is the news from the school?"
"Lord Voldemort, I bring grave news," Snape said, standing up. "Just now, Professor Trelawney gave forth another prophecy, foreseeing your downfall."
"Very well, Snape," Lord Voldemort said after Snape had told him the prophecy. "You have done me a great service by warning me about this. You will be rewarded handsomely."
"Thank you, Master," Snape said, bowing low in front of him.
"Avery, Nott, and Yaxley. Come forward," Voldemort commanded. Three people from the side of the room made their way into the center, where they joined snape in bowing. "Gather the death eater forces," Lord Voldemort said. "Find any magical families giving birth at the end of August, and let me know immediately. Go.."
" Yes master, We will not let you down," The death eaters said, before apparating out of the manor.
Snape bowed once more before leaving the manor. He made his way toward the edge of the forest and disappeared inside.
July 31st, 1989 - Potter Household (3rd person)
"Hang in there Lily," James said as he rushed his wife to the ambulance. "You're gonna be fine, ok?" Lily and James were having a friendly wizard's duel when suddenly, Lily's stomach had started hurting to the point where it was unbearable. Knowing what was about to happen, James had made the quick decision of immediately placing a call to the local hospital, which had sent an ambulance immediately.
Lily responded to James by screaming in pain again. James looked urgently at the doctors. "Please hurry up," he pleaded, as the doctors assure him they were doing all they could. James put a hand on her bulging belly and spoke softly in her ear, trying to calm her down. Both were extremely excited at the idea of their son finally being born.
"We have to take her to the hospital immediately," One of the doctors yelled, noticing that Lily was about to lose consciousness. The driver gunned the engine of the ambulance and took off down the road leading to the hospital. A few minutes later, the ambulance was parked at the entrance, and the doctors, along with Lily on a stretcher, had jumped out and led her into the emergency room. James stayed outside, pacing frantically, waiting for his infant son to finally make his way into this world.
About an hour later, the doctor called him inside the room. Sitting up in her bed in a hospital gown was Lily, holding her newborn baby in her arms. James sighed with relief as he saw that both his wife and baby were unharmed during the operation.
"Congratulations," The doctor said with a smile, as he made his way out the door. "They both are just fine. You can take them home as soon as you get the reports."
"Thank you, doctor," James said as he closed the door behind him. Once the door was closed, he wrapped his wife in a hug and smiled warmly at the newborn baby in her arms. "You have no idea how happy I am today," James said.
"Me too," Lily said. "One day, he'll be an even more powerful wizard than us both."
"Hey, I'll still give him a decent fight!" James said indignantly, before laughing. "What do you want to name him?" he asked her curiously.
"Let's name him Harry," Lily answered. "Harry James Potter."
James smiled proudly as he lifted his son in his arms, cooing gently at him. "We should get home soon and owl everyone to let them know," he said to Lily.
"Yea, I agree," She said, as James helped her out of the bed. Together, they made their way back to the car and returned home, ready to reveal Harry Potter to the world.
July 31st, 1989 - Jackson Residence
Sally Jackson was sitting on the living room sofa, watching the local news when the bell rang. She was instantly on alert, knowing that she wasn't expecting anyone to come. Cautiously, she picked up her wand from the coffee table, hiding it behind her back, and slowly approached the door.
She opened the door and gasped. Her look of apprehension was immediately replaced by a blush. Standing outside was a handsome, muscular man in his mid-twenties. He had raven black hair and green eyes that seemed to contain the power of the whole ocean within them. "Hello Sally," the man said smiling brightly. "You're looking as beautiful as always."
Sally Jackson blushed even more. "P-Poseidon," She said. "What are you doing here?"
"Can I come in first Sally?" He asked Jokingly.
"Oh of course," Sally said, moving out of the way to give her husband room to enter.
First things First," Poseidon said. He pointed at her womb and his finger glowed with a sea green light. the glow branched off from his finger and onto Sally's body. When it subsided, Sally was looking normal and a baby boy, glowing with the same light was floating in the air in front of her.
"How did you do that?" Sally asked with wonder.
Poseidon laughed. "We gods do have certain powers over the birth of our children."
"Thank you," Sally said, smiling before her smile was replaced with a frown. "I thought you weren't allowed to be here, Poseidon," she said worriedly. "Don't get in trouble with Lord Zeus because of me."
"Ahh nonsense, I can manage to come down once in a while, and it's a lot easier since we're in the UK, which isn't in the greek sphere of influence." Poseidon said. "it has been months since we saw each other has it not?"
"Well yes but-" Sally started.
"And besides," he interrupted, pointing at the baby in her arms. There was no way I was going to miss the birth of my newest demigod son...or should I say Demiwizard..."
Sally gasped visibly. "You mean-" She began to say.
"Yep, the kid's going to inherit your magical prowess as well as my powers over the sea," Poseidon answered.
"But what should he be trained in then," Sally questioned.
"Both," Poseidon answered. "He will receive his Hogwarts letter when he turns 11, and at 12, he will be forced into his other destiny. That much I have foreseen."
"But will he be able to handle it all?" Sally asked.
"Do not fret Sally," Poseidon reassured her. "He is a true son of the sea. He has power beyond that of a regular demigod. He will be fine."
Sally smiled at that. "You'll protect him won't you?" She asked.
"Of course, I will always be watching over him," Poseidon answered.
"Let's name him Perseus," Poseidon suggested. "One of the only heroes to have a happy ending."
He tilted his head up to the sky as though he could hear something no one else could. "I must go now before Zeus senses a disturbance." He looked down at the sleeping form of his newborn son. He leaned down to face him. "Good luck Percy," He whispered. "You have a great destiny ahead of you."
Poseidon stood up and gave Sally one last kiss, before turning into a sea breeze, leaving behind only a faint smell of the ocean.
