A/N: This is set in Ginny's 7th year (Harry and the crew are in year 8). Ginny is a trans female that's bisexual and Luna's a panromantic asexual demigirl who uses she/they pronouns. (Linny, mentioned Drarry.)

Harry and Ginny stand in the corner of the Gryffindor common room, Harry's expression nervous. "Gin, I have something to tell you?"

"What is it?" Ginny asks cautiously.

"Well, I kinda wanna break up, I didn't know how you'd take it."

"That's fine." Ginny tries to stay calm.

"Also, I'm kinda dating Draco now."

"What?" Ginny explodes.

"Yeah." Harry turns away. "You can hate me all you want, whatever. I feel really bad but I also realised I like guys."

Ginny calms herself down. "Honestly, this is okay."

"I thought you would hate me."

"No, I don't. I kind of saw this coming and I both think we have to move on."

"Thank you, Gin. Thank you so much for the support." Harry pulls Ginny into a platonic hug.

"No problem."

"Now I have to see how Ron and Hermione react." Harry heads off to a table near the unlit fireplace where Ron and Hermione are sitting. Ginny doesn't know what to do so she heads up to her dorm to get her broom, maybe flying will help her?

Ginny grabs her room and rushes to the quidditch pitch ignoring the conversation Harry's having with Hermione and Ron. She doesn't want to approach that mess and she doesn't know how to feel. Even though she appeared calm and collected in the conversation, she's certainly not that.

Once she gets to the quidditch pitch Ginny mounts her broom. As soon as she does it doesn't feel right. It's weird without Harry. Ginny dismounts and walks to the stands.

Ginny paces the stands around the quidditch field dragging her broom along with her. Tears run down her face as she can't bear to comprehend what just happened.

So what now? She doesn't have Harry to support her? He's dating Draco fucking Malfoy. The person who he's hated for years. With the fact her exams are fast approaching, she has no idea what she's going to do with her life and this and she doesn't even know if she wants to go on.

Luna is having a normal day, or so she thought? She had a quiet morning, loitering the forest to look for endangered species and now she's walking around the school letting her imagination be free. She fast approaches the quidditch pitch. It's a place where she's spent lots of time whether it be good or bad.

She enters the place thinking she'll be alone. Her eyes flutter around the stadium and a certain bright red hair stands out to her. Who could that be? Ron? No he's with Harry and Hermione in the Gryffindor common room. It dawns on her, it must be Ginny, one of her only true friends, only one of the people she can trust.

Ginny has her head in her hands when she hears a certain someone's footsteps. The person itself is whistling a merry tune and her necklaces are brushing against each other in the light breeze. It must be Luna. Ginny looks up and tries to make herself at least presentable.

"Hey," Ginny manages to make a gruff sound.

"Hello." Luna's soft voice calms the mood between them. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Ginny props up her broom so it leans on the benches.

"Oh come on, your face is all red and your eyes are puffy. You've obviously been crying."

"Fine." Ginny brushes the hair out of her face. "Harry broke up with me. He's dating Draco Malfoy for heaven's sake.

"Oh god. Just then?" Ginny nods and Luna opens her arms. Ginny leans forward and gratefully responds to the hug. "Thank you," Ginny whispers. "You're my closest friend."

"Before Hermione?" Luna asks suprised.

"Definitely."

"If you need to talk, you know where to find me," Luna says. The place of course would be the forest, Ginny's the only person Luna's ever told about that.

"Thanks." Tears keep rolling down Ginny's face. "Same goes for you."

The hug finally breaks apart and Luna strokes Ginny's hair. "Do you want to get cleaned up?"

"Sure." Ginny laughs. "In Hogwarts?"

"Of course not. You don't want anyone seeing you like that and making rumors up. Also, I found a spring not too far from Hagrid's hut where you can wash yourself up.

"Okay, let's go then. Thanks for all of this. It means a lot."

The pair leave the quidditch pitch and head to the spring, their arms on each other's shoulders. Once they get there they stop.

"So I just stick my head in?" Ginny asks.

"I guess." Luna contemplates it. "Or I could splash you."

"No."

Ginny sticks her face in and pulls it out. The front of her hair is soaking and her face is dripping wet. Luna digs her hand in her pocket and pulls out a handkerchief. Ginny accepts it and dries her face.

"You can keep it."

"Thanks."

Ginny shoves the handkerchief in her pocket and then sticks her hands back in the spring. She grapes a scoop of water and splashes Luna before it's too late.

"Hey! I just told you about this!" Luna says.

"Fine." Ginny sits down on the side of the hill and motions for Luna to do so.

"Can I do your hair? A braid maybe."

"Sure. My first thought was a ponytail but you can do what you want." Luna starts to play with Ginny's hair and Ginny asks, "Do you want to do 3 questions?"

"Sure." Luna sits down next to her. "Can I go first?"

"I don't mind, so yes."

"Have you ever felt like you're not good enough? I have. Especially with our friends. Are they our friends now?" At this point Luna is weaving two small braids into each side of Ginny's hair.

"They are our friends, Harry and I agreed at the start of our relationship that that would stay the same and I'm not mad at him for being with Draco. Yes, I have, especially with all my brothers and now. I thought about visiting Dumbledore, let's just say.

"Wow. I didn't know. Thanks, by the way, I didn't want to bring up the friends' topic."

"No problem. Did you ever feel left out like in DA and stuff?"

"Yeah, but I always do a little bit and that'll never change. I mean you've all known each other since you were 10 and 11. I just joined three our group three years ago." Luna sighs and a sad smile appears on her face. "Two lighthearted questions now?"

"Yep." Luna pulls Ginny's hair bank into a ponytail where the two braids are the centerpiece.

"Okay…" Luna thinks for a while. "Your favourite colour and why? Also, I'm done with your hair."

"A fiery crimson red. I guess because of the home Gryffindor's been to me and my family. I mean red hair and a hand-me-down robe, as Malfoy says, kind of describes us, in a good and bad way."

"Hmm." Luna gazes off into the distance. "Your turn to ask me a question."

"Your middle name and how you feel about it?"

"Athena. Luna Athena Lovegood. I like it. Sometimes my full name feels a bit obnoxious I guess."

"Not like Malfoy's." the pair laugh.

Luna continues on. "It has ties to my mother and her Greek origins." Ginny goes silent. "Her name was Pandora. I mean it's nice but I haven't really thought about it."

Luna looks at Ginny's freckle-smattered face. "What do you want to do? What do you really want to do? Not just a compromise because you need a stable job."

"I honestly don't know, exams are approaching so fast and I'm just at a loss for anything. I mean soon enough we'll be applying for jobs and I don't know." Ginny puts her arm around Luna.

"Well let me say, you're pretty damn good at quidditch."

"I know." Ginny sighs. "It just reminds me of Harry."

"Sorry," Luna whispers.

"It's not your fault."

"Your turn for the final question."

"Have you ever had a crush and on who?"

"Well," Luna starts. "At the end of 5th and start of 6th year, I had a crush on Neville. He's nice but it wasn't major. I thought I had a crush on Harry at some point but that was platonic and I think it was just because he listened to me." Luna blushes. "Now someone else's taken the role though."

"Who?" Ginny asks obliviously.

"You. Ginevra Molly Weasley." Ginny stares blankly for a moment and then pulls Luna in for a kiss. It was a short kiss but it felt like an eternity for them.

They pull apart. "I love you Luna Athena Lovegood."

"I love you too, Ginevra Molly Weasley." They kiss again and pull apart.

"I'd love to spend forever with you but we better head back," Luna says. "We both have some pretty important studying to do. Especially you."

"Thanks, Luna."

"No problem, girlfriend?"

"Girlfriend," Ginny confirms.

The pair stand up on the hill and together hand in hand they walk back to the castle blushing.
