Erin and Temperance landed in DC and managed to get their luggage with ease. They took a cab to her apartment. Brennan watched as Erin was beginning to take note of her surroundings. She looked at every landmark like she looked at remains. Erin was gathering the evidence she needed to determine how DC would suit her. "So many trees, you don't see that in downtown Chicago as much." Erin said while smiling. They pulled up to the apartment complex, "This is it, this is home, for now." Brennan said as they both took out their luggage from the cab. Brennan placed her key into the door and opened it welcoming Erin in. Erin looked at her mothers belongings, she saw the african artifacts, ancient weapons, and books. "You essentially created a museum I see," Erin said, chuckling. Brennan was closing the door, "As a cultural anthropologist, it's sort of expected to bring back a few things." she said. Brennan placed her arm over Erin, "Let's go look at your room, shall we?" she asked. Erin nodded and let Brennan lead the way. Brennan had the room emptied out, she originally planned to store Egyptian artifacts in the room, but obviously had other arrangements. "We could start by buying you a bed of course, I just wanted you to have a say in your room. I want you to be comfortable." Brennan said. Erin walked into the room and looked out the window where she saw a shiny black SUV park. She looked at Brennan, "I think we may have company," she said as she pulled the curtain back. Brennan approached the window, "Booth," Erin smiled, "Agent Booth. Your partner right?" she asked. Brennan smiled, "Yes, again, I'd like to remind you that he doesn't know about you. I consider him my best friend, so I'm not sure how he's going to react. So, I apologize for any negative emotions that could be displayed in a moment. Negative emotions directed at me and not at you." Brennan stressed. Erin nodded, "I understand, fully. If you'd like, I can stay behind until you'd like me to come out." she suggested.

Brennan placed her hands on Erin's arms, "That's a great idea." They both heard the knock at the door accompanied by, "Bones! I know you're back!" he said. Erin chuckled at her mother's nickname and Booth's insistence. Brennan rolled her eyes and went to get the door, "Are you tracking me again, Booth?" she said as she opened the door. Booth had his toothy grin on his face with takeout in his hands, "Me? No, just making sure you landed safe and were fed. I brought Wung Fu's!" he said. Brennan laughed and invited him in, he began to dish out the food, "Booth, I have to tell you something," she said. Booth looked at his partner, "Sure Bones anything, shoot!" he said happily. "Do you remember when you told me about Parker? For the first time?" she asked. This was a weird question for Booth, "Yeah I do. During the Gillespie case. We were quarantined for Christmas," he said. Brennan took the beer Booth was handing her and took a sip, "Do you remember me talking about Michael Stires?" she asked him. Booth raised an eyebrow, "Yes, that's why you were in Chicago Bones. He just passed. Didnt you lose your virginity to him? When you were in college?" he asked. Erin's eyes went wide at that fact. She didn't know her mom lost her virginity to her dad. Brennan scoffed, "You decided to bring that up..because?" She said while laughing. Booth laughed, "Bones, what are you trying to get at?" he asked.

"There's something you don't know about me. In fact, no one knew about this other than Michael. Not even Angela. I'm telling you now." She said, Booth had a feeling this was important especially if Bone's best friend in the entire world didn't know. "Bones, what is it? Are you okay?" he asked, concerned. He sat next to her. Brennan smiled because her partner was always so concerned, "When I was seeing Michael, I discovered I got pregnant." she said while she kept eye contact with Booth. Booth swallowed the saliva in his mouth and then took a swig of his beer, "Pregnant? He said. Brennan nodded as she took another sip as well. "I had the baby, a baby girl." Brennan smiled, "I wasn't ready for a child Booth. We both know that with my parents abandoning me- my lack of establishing emotional connections with other human beings, caring for them, was practically non existent. I wouldn't have known how to be a mother." She said with tears beginning to form in her eyes. Booth took her partner's hand, "Michael, was beyond thrilled and well established to be able to provide for her. So, he took full custody of her. Which I'm glad about. Being a child of the system isn't easy and if anyone knew that, it was me." She said as the tears in her eyes couldn't be contained anymore.

They streamed onto her face and fell into their hands. Booth took one of his hands and wiped her tears away, "That must have been so hard for you, Bones. But you and I both know that you would have been a great mom. Even Parker tells you that." He said with a smile. Erin didn't know her mothers parents had abandoned her and she definitely didn't know she was a foster child. This made Erin see her mother in a new perspective. Any residual anger she had felt in the crevices of heart had disappeared. For the first time she took a breath that wasn't filled with doubt. Brennan smiled at his response, "I really thought you'd be upset. Because I kept something like this from you." She said as she whimpered. "Oh, Bones. I can't be mad at you. Not for something like this. This is painful. I can't tell you that Angela wont be upset, but I'm not." he said. Brennan squeezed his hand, "Since Michael...passed...Bones, where's your daughter? Is she with someone safe?" he asked. Brennan loved that he was already concerned for Erin. Brennan chuckled, "She's here Booth. I want you to meet her." Brennan said as she wiped her eyes. Booth smiled which then quickly trend into a grin. Brennan stood up and so did he.
