Her blue eyes shifted and her confident demeanor had transformed into a nervous one. "There is one thing you all dont know about me. No one knew about this, other than Michael. Now he's dead." Brennan started. Angela's eyes were transfixed on her best friend, in fact all of their colleagues were eagerly awaiting for this secret to be revealed. "As you know, when I attended Northwestern, I had an affair with Michael. I was young and careless. During that affair..I got pregnant." Her colleagues' mouths were open, even Zack's. Zack didn't see his boss ever being careless, let alone get pregnant. "What?!" Angela shouted, Brennan placed one of her hands out to let her friend know she was not finished. "I was pregnant and Michael wanted me to continue with the pregnancy, he wanted to be a father. I….continued with the pregnancy.." Angela sat down and immediately stood up again. She was unsure of what to do with her body. Hodgins hands were in his hair, Zack stood there..stoically, and Cam's jaw was basically on the floor. "I delivered a healthy baby girl, her name is Erin...Michael had pre-arranged in his will….in case of his untimely death that I would be Erin's legal guardian. As her mother I would continue to raise her. Being that I'm the only family she has left." She said calmly and well rationally because it's not like she was lying. "Oh my god is she here?" Cam asked which was quickly followed by Hodgins, "Yeah, Dr.B is she here?"
Brennan smiled and nodded and looked over to the pillar, soon her friends gazed up to the same exact pillar where Erin was hiding. "Honey, come on up." Brennan said loudly. Erin emerged from the blind spot and Angela's "Oh my god," was heard as they all saw a tall, thin, blue eyed, brown haired girl begin to step on the platform. Cam nodded to the security guards to allow her entry. Erin smiled, shyly, and cleared her throat, "Hi, I'm Erin. It's nice to meet you." she said. Again, she spoke confidently and clearly. Angela immediately walked up to her and gave her a hug, "I have a niece! It's so nice to meet you sweetie!" she yelled. Brennan sighed a breath of relief as her best friend was hugging her daughter.
Erin struggled to gather herself, "You all like to hug around here, I take it." she said as she began to get a hug from Hodgins followed by Cam. Zack placed his hand out to shake and Erin smiled at the gesture, "Thank you," she whispered to him. Erin then took her place standing next to her mother. Cam placed her hand over her mouth, "Remarkable, Dr. Brennan." she said. Brennan chuckled and placed her arm over Erin's shoulder. "Truly uncanny." Zack mumbled. Brennan then looked at Erin, "I told you they'd like you. What do you say guys? Do we have another member of the squint squad?" she asked her colleagues. Everyone said, "Yes!" at the same time. Even Zack. Erin was quickly given the tour of the Medical Legal lab. Hodgins showed Erin his beatles, the MASS SPEC, and his mold. Which Erin found truly intriguing. Zack showed her his room, where mostly all his experiments with Hodgins took place. She laughed a lot in there. Cam showed off her office and the famous autopsy table. Erin's face was a little uneasy as she recalled her dissection mishap a year ago.
The true inquiry began when Angela stayed with the pair to talk in Angela's office. "Has Booth met you?" she asked Erin. Erin nodded while looking around Angela's office, "Yes, I believe he was tracking my mom, because when we arrived at the apartment he showed up after a few minutes." she said. Angela laughed and looked at Brennan with wide eyes. Brennan had the same eyes as well because that was the first time Erin referred to her as 'mom'. Erin continued, "He also brought us food. Which was really nice...Your brush strokes are all the same. I find that..comforting." she finished while taking a seat next to her mom. Angela was impressed with her observation skills but at the same time didn't expect anything less from her best friend's daughter. "You are your mothers child. I look forward to getting to know you, Erin." Angela said with a mischievous grin. Which Brennan immediately caught, "Over activities I have approved, Angela. We both will be back tomorrow, but now we have to go furniture shopping for her bedroom." Brennan said while getting up and Erin soon followed. "I look forward to getting to know you too Aunt Angela and everyone else." Erin said while approaching the door, she waved, and ran up to catch up with her mother. Brennan's colleagues were on the forensic platform and Erin yelled, "Nice meeting all of you! See you tomorrow!" and waved goodbye with a smile. Everyone smiled, waved back, and yelled their goodbyes. Brennan looked at Erin as she buckled herself in, "See, I told you they'd love you." she said while starting the car. Erin retorted back, "See, there was nothing to be nervous about, mom." and pulled out her cell phone to let her friends know she made it DC. Brennan's heart was about to burst, metaphorically speaking. Erin had called her 'mom' just out of nowhere. Just like that.
