Brennan and Booth were on the way to Hoover and Booth noticed that Bones kept looking at her cell phone. "Bones, we just left the Jeffersonian. Erin is fine. She's with Angela." Booth said. Brennan puffed up her cheeks with air and soon released it. "I know," she continued, "It's just that...I love her so much. Already. I know it's irrational because she's not a baby anymore. But, I'm always worried now. I just got her, Booth." she said as she held her phone tightly. Booth placed his palm on Bones shoulder, "It's not irrational, Bones. You're her MOM. You're a full time mom now. Worrying is a part of the parental job description. I always worry about Parker. If he had a good day at school, is he having nightmares, is he drinking enough milk, you know all that stuff." Booth reassured her. Brennan smiled and nodded, "I suppose you're right. She's been doing well, from what I observe. She's opened up quite well with me and well you." she continued to reassure herself by stating her current observations. Booth shimmied in the driver's seat, "Really? You think she likes me?" Booth asked and Brennan chuckled, "Yes, it seems so. She has opened dialogue with you and well with everyone else in the lab. She's confident in who she is, which helps her connect with others so easily." Brennan said. Booth smiled, "Just like you, Bones."
Erin was still hanging out with Angela as she continued to work on the case. Erin stood up, "Is it okay if I walk around, Aunt Angie?" Erin asked nonchalantly. Angela smiled at her new name, "Yes, of course. Make sure you have your ID on you." She responded back. Erin nodded and began to make her away around the Medical Legal Lab. She walked by Zack's office where she saw Zack and Hodgins begin their experiment. She smiled, "Are you guys trying to measure the maximum velocity of each of the potential weapons by using a cantaloupe to compare to a skull?" Erin looked at her mothers colleagues with glee. Hodgins and Zack smiled, "Yes, yes we are." Zack responded and Hodgins handed Erin some goggles which Erin happily took. "Awesome!" Erin said while she took a few steps back to watch the men bludgeon the fruit before her. The doctors continued to smash the cantaloupes while Cam walked in to be splattered with fruit. Erin handed Cam a towel and awaited for the gentlemen to explain their process. They narrowed down two possible weapons and Erin volunteered to take the tray to Angela. "Can I take the tray, please?" she asked, smiling and Cam responded with a chuckle, "Go right ahead!" Erin had a skip to her step and strolled down the lab where she met with her mom and Booth. "They got you working already, Erin?" Booth asked her with a grin. Erin smiled, "No. I offered to take the tray. I like to be involved." she said, "Drs Hodgins and Addy narrowed down these possible weapons. I'm taking them to Aunt Angie." Brennan nodded and allowed her to continue to Angela's office as they followed her. Booth looked at his partner, "Aunt Angie, huh?" he said and Brennan smiled, "Yes, Aunt Angie." she replied.
The tiny group walked into Angela's office, "We have two possible weapons. They could help with narrowing down the exact measurements. I personally think it's the hammer steel hatchet. It has a 13 degree acute angle on the blade which matches the blow to the parietal bone." Erin said. Angela looked at Erin with awe and immediately ran the hatchet through the simulator. It matched perfectly. The first weapon was almost identical to the second one. However, the acute angle on that weapon was only slightly larger, 15 degrees. Brennan smiled with pride, "Fantastic job, Erin! When did you get a chance to look at the skull?" she asked. Erin smiled, "I caught a glimpse of the skull on the platform and then saw the x-rays...Thanks, mom." she replied. Erin was excited to be engulfed in the field of forensic anthropology. Her father never allowed her near the cases he was asked to work by the Chicago Police Department. The adults in the room were impressed she was able to gather that amount of information with only quick glances to the physical remains. "I'll include this in the report and send it to you Booth." Angela said. Booth looked at Brennan and Erin, "Great work! Are you guys hungry? We can go to the diner." he said. Erin smiled and nodded, "I am hungry." she replied. Brennan looked at her best friend, "Want to join, Ange?" and Angela shook her head. "I'm catching lunch with Hodgins a bit. We'll probably see you there. You guys enjoy." she said while still working on the report.
Erin enjoyed observing her mom and Booth interact on the drive to the diner. She could tell the partners were close. Not as close as they should be, but close. She shipped them, hard. The group passed by a high school, which was gated, and had cherry trees planted on the front lawn. "Hey mom, could that be the high school I will be attending in August?" Erin asked as she pointed to the building they passed by. Brennan watched her daughter grow excited but could hear the anxiety in her voice. Brennan nodded, "Yes! It's a private school. Designed to keep bright minds, like yours, challenged. We'll be taking a tour soon. Would you like that?" she asked her daughter. She turned to face her daughter in the back seat. "Yes, I would. I need to know the layout of the building. Seems to have tight security. That's nice." She said smiling. Booth peeked at Erin in the rearview mirror, "Worried about security, AirBear?" he asked. Erin chuckled at her new nickname given to her by Booth. "AirBear, huh?" she asked the rhetorical question, "Not really. At my old high school we had metal detectors because you know Chicago and its gun violence. But, it was a nice school. The best school in the area." She answered, making sure she placed special emphasis on the word best. To not make her mother worry.
