"Are you guys ready?" Harry asked them.
"Yes." Hermione and Ron said.
"You guys know that you don't have to come with me, right?" He was worried they would get hurt.
"We're coming with you." Hermione said.
"Stop trying to stop us." Ron said.
"Okay. Let's go." He said.
The trio snuck down into the common room. It seemed to be empty. They quietly made their way to the portrait. They froze when they heard a voice.
"Stop!" They turned to see Neville.
"You're sneaking out again, aren't you?" He asked them.
"Go back to bed Neville." Harry said.
"No. You'll get into trouble again and lose us points." He said.
"Bed Neville." Ron said sternly.
"No. I'll stop you." He sounded scared but determined.
"I'm sorry Neville." Hermione said. "Petrificus Totalus."
The spell hit Neville. His arms snapped to the side and he fell backwards. He was as stiff as a board. Hermione looked at the boys as they stared in shock.
"Don't worry he's not hurt, just frozen." She assured them.
The trio then leave the common room. They manage to get to the third floor without being caught. Soon they were face to face with a sleeping Fluffy. A harp playing in the corner caught Harry's attention.
"Snape has already been here." He said before playing the flute just in case the harp stopped.
First Ron jumped and then Hermione. Harry was happy that he chose to play since the harp had stopped playing when they had opened the trap door. Harry jumped in after. He could hear the snarling as he fell down the hole.
Harry expected his landing to be hard but it wasn't. It was really soft. He looked around and noticed that it was a plant. He was relieved to see that Ron and Hermione were doing okay. They were so relieved that they were okay that at first they failed to notice the plant wrapping it's vines around them. Hermione noticed it first.
"Oh no. We landed in devil's snare." She gasped.
"What?" Harry and Ron looked at her in panic.
"We landed in devil's snare." She repeated.
"How do we get out of it?" Ron asked.
"Fire. Ugh but I don't have any wood on me." She groaned.
"Are you a witch or what?" Ron asked her as a vine began wrapping around his chest.
"Right." She took out her wand. "Incendio."
The vines removed themselves from their bodies in an attempt to get away from the fire. The trio fell through it to the floor below. They land with a soft thump. They quickly stand and dust themselves off.
"Thank you." Harry said to her.
"You're welcome." She smiled.
The trio continue on. They soon entered a room filled with birds flying around above them and a door. In the middle of the room was a broom. They ran to the door and tried to open it. It was locked and when Hermione tried to use the unlocking spell it failed. Harry looked around and realized something.
"Those aren't birds." Harry told them. "They're keys with wings."
"What?" The two looked up and saw what Harry did.
"We just need to figure out which one is the right key." Hermione said.
Harry looked at all the keys. He found one that looked different to the others. He quickly pointed it out to the others.
"That one. It's the rusty key with the broken looking wing." He told them.
"Get it Harry." Ron said.
"Okay."
Harry mounted the broom and took off. He chased after the rusty key. The minute he caught it the other keys chased him. He threw the key to Hermione. She unlocked the door. Her and Ron waited until Harry was on the other side of the door with them before slamming the door shut. They all heard the keys hitting the door. Harry jumped off the broom.
"Sure you two don't want to back out?" Harry asked them.
"We're sure." Hermione said.
"Okay." He nodded. 'I wished you weren't.'
They continued on once more. This time they enter a room with a giant chessboard and chess pieces. They all pause and look at it. When they tried to continue to the door the black pieces stopped them. They realized what that meant. They would need to play through in order to advance.
"Ron?" Harry looked at him.
"You trust me to do this?" The redhead asked in shock.
"I do. You're the best chess player in this room." He told him.
"O-okay." He took a deep breath.
He had them take their places. They played through the game. Ron saw what he had to do and Harry realized what his friend was going to do.
"No Ron. Don't." He said.
"What?" Hermione looked confused.
"I have to, Harry." Ron said.
"No you don't." The dark haired child said.
"What are you two talking about?" Hermione asked in frustration and confusion.
"He's going to sacrifice himself so that I can call a checkmate." Harry told her.
"What?! No!" She yelled.
"Do you want to stop Snape or not?" He asked them. "Thought so." He said when the two remained silent.
Ron moved into position and the queen knocked him down. Hermione screamed and Harry had to remind her to stay still. He got into position and looked at the king.
"Checkmate." He said.
The king fell down. The black pieces left the board and so did the white pieces. Hermione and Harry went over to Ron. They were relieved to see him breathing. The two looked at each other. Neither wanted to leave their friend but they also didn't want Snape to get the stone.
"Let's go." Harry said reluctantly. "The quicker we stop Snape the sooner we can get Ron help."
"Okay."
They stood and ran towards the door. When they opened it a terrible smell wafted over to them. The two gagged. Pulling their robes over their noses they entered the room. They found a troll laying on the ground. It appeared to have already been knocked out. The two figured it was Snape. They continued on until they came to a table filled with potions. A black fire blocked them from continuing and a blue fire stopped them from turning back.
"What now?" Harry asked.
"Hmm. Let me see." She said.
She read what was written next to the vials of potions. "It's a logic puzzle." She realized.
"Can you figure it out?" He asked.
"Maybe." She said. "Yes!" She grabbed two potions. "This will take one of us forward and the other one will take one of us back to Ron."
"You take the one that will take you back to Ron. Use the broom to get you both out of here. Get Dumbledore." Harry told her.
"Okay. Here." She handed him the potion that would get him through the black fire. "Good luck."
"You too." He said.
He watched her drink the potion and go through the blue flames. He took the potion Hermione had given him once he could no longer see her. He shivered as the potion entered his system. He took a deep breath before walking through the black fire.
Harry entered the room and was shocked. He thought he would find Snape but instead he found professor Quirrell. He was standing in the middle of the room looking into a mirror. He couldn't believe it. Quirrell was after the stone, not Snape.
"Hello Potter." He greeted him as he continued to stare at the mirror.
"Bu-but Snape.." He was so confused.
"Ah yes. Of course you would suspect him. He's the perfect scapegoat. After all, who would suspect me? P-p-poor s-stuttering p-p-p-p-professor Quirrell." He cackled.
"But Snape tried to kill me." He said.
"No dear boy." He spun and glared at the boy. "I tried to kill you. Snape tried to save you. I would have succeeded if it wasn't for Granger breaking my eye contact."
"Why?" Harry asked.
"I need the stone to revive my master. Lord Voldemort will live again!" He answered. "I just need to figure out how to get the stone."
"Use the boy." A whispery voice commanded.
"Yes sir. Boy! Come here!" He yelled.
Harry was too afraid to do anything but listen. He walked up to the man. His professor grabbed him by the back of his robe and pushed him towards the mirror. He pushed too hard and pushed the first year right into the mirror. To their surprise Harry went right into the mirror.
(With Chessur and his family)
Chessur and his family were taking a stroll through the forest. Chessur stopped when he spotted something. He cautiously walked over and gasped when he saw the boy. He was lying on the ground unconscious. His white shirt had patches of blood on it. He quickly looked towards his parents.
"Mom! Dad!" He yelled for them.
His parents went to him. They gasped when they saw the boy he was floating above. His dad changed forms and picked him up.
"I'll take him to a doctor." He said before he used his powers to make both himself and the boy disappear.
"Will that boy be okay?" Chessur asked his mom.
"I don't know dear. I hope so. Let's go home and wait for your father." She said.
"Okay."
(With Chaz and Harry)
Chaz and the child appeared in front of a hut. The Cheshire knocked on the door. It was soon answered by the doctor. He took in the sight before moving to allow them inside. He had Chaz place the child on the table. He removed the child's clothing and his eyes darkened as he took in the abused body.
"Where did you find him?" He asked.
"My family and I were walking when my son found him. He was unconscious and his shirt had patches of blood on it. I picked him up and took him here." He answered.
"I see." He said tightly. "Could you go get the queen?" He asked.
"What? Why?" He was alarmed.
"This boy was abused." He answered.
"I'll be right back." He disappeared.
The doctor continued to work. It wasn't long until the queen arrived with two guards. He told them his findings when the child woke up. He looked around in confusion. The doctor noticed the squinting and wondered if he wore glasses.
"Calm child." The doctor said, "You are injured and you may reopen your wounds." He said.
"Where am I?" He asked.
"You're in the Midnight Meadow." He answered.
They all saw the confusion on the child's face. He had no idea what they were talking about. The queen already figured out why.
"You aren't from Underland, are you?" She asked.
The child shook his head. The queen nodded and sat down near him.
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Harry Potter." He answered.
"Are you a magical creature, a wizard, or non-human?" She asked, knowing about Overland.
"Wizard." He said.
"Do you know how you came to be here in Underland?" She asked.
"I think so." Harry said.
For some reason he spilled his whole life to her. He had no idea where to start except from the beginning. Once he began talking he couldn't stop. Everyone was silent as the boy talked. None of them showed the anger they felt. Each wanting to find all the people that hurt the child and bring them to justice. They all vowed to make sure the boy would be protected and raised in a loving home.
Chaz walked up to the child. He put his hand on the child's face and cradled it. He hated how the child flinched at the touch. He was expecting to be hit. He was shocked when he wasn't. No child should become accustomed to violence or expect it. He looked the child in his eyes.
"You will not be going back." He told him. "You will come home with me. My wife, my son, and I will show you the love and care you deserve." He vowed.
"Okay." Harry found himself saying.
"Wonderful." The queen said.
"This is great news. Now allow me to return to tending to my patient." The doctor said.
"Right." Chaz smiled and stepped back from his new son to allow the doctor to continue.
