AN: This is just a drabble that I wrote this morning at my boyfriends apartment. (Yes, I have a boyfriend, so no more marriage proposals!) Anyway, he laughed at me but I figured other people like reading these things. So, enjoy. -

If there was one thing that Naruto hated more than anything in the world, it was being laughed at. But, there was nothing he could do to stop people from laughing at him. It didn't matter if it was somebody insignificant or somebody important. He hated being laughed at. The people who laughed at him – insignificant or not – would keep laughing at him, no matter what he did.

He was the class clown after all. The screw up. The goof ball. He was, essentially, somebody to laugh at. In everybody else's eyes, it was okay to laugh at him. It was okay to laugh at his dreams.

"Just you watch! I'm going to become stronger than all of the Hokage's! And then you'll all acknowledge me!"

Nobody believed that he would ever live up to his words. Nobody believed that he would ever be more than the goof-ball demon carrier. A minor threat as long as they kept him under proper surveillance. As long as he was kept busy with other thoughts.

Nobody believed that he would ever become somebody.

Which is why, years later, when he annihilated the entire Konoha village with little-to-no resistance, he was the one laughing. With Gaara on one side and Sasuke on the other, he laughed as the people who used to laugh at him suffered.

Gaara watched impassively. Sasuke didn't watch at all. But Naruto did. He watched, and he laughed.

Revenge is sweet, after all. Especially revenge long since coming.

AN: The beginning was inspired by the Kiba vs. Naruto fight in the Chounin exam, and the end was inspired by all of the "Naruto comes back and kills everyone in Konoha" idea/story line which is quite popular, I've noticed. The rest just sort of filled itself in. Let me know what needs 'a fixin' alright?
