Angry Mother

In the Three Broomsticks, a very furious woman was angrily downing Ogden's Finest.

Rolanda Hooch, The flying instructor for Hogwarts was not happy. The reason for her unhappiness was one Dolores Umbridge.

That woman, she muttered. Trying to believe that she could control Quidditch. That woman knew nothing about sports and now she was trying to take away her job.

Ah she took another drink of her whiskey she imagined that woman being hit in the head with a bludger. Or maybe being locked in a cage with one of Hagrid's many dangerous pets.

There must be some way to get rid of that dreadful woman, she scowled furiously. Unfortunately however that excuse for a woman had the full backing of the Ministry, and Cornelius Fudge himself.

Thinking of Cornelius Fudge at that very moment suddenly made her realize what must be done to get Quidditch back under her control at Hogwarts.

Her own late mother, Elgina Hooch was very close friends with Livia Fudge, the minister's mother.

Livia Fudge, from what she remembered, was a force to be reckoned with. While mainly a decent and friendly woman, she was terrifying when she was angry.

A sadistic smile on her lips, the flying instructor noted down her task as she went back to her drink.

"My son is doing WHAT," roared Livia.

Rolanda tried to remain her composure while explaining to the enraged woman on what her son had been doing the last few months.

Livia Fudge never trusted the Media, so she always ignored the news and did not know what had happened in the last few months in wizarding politics.

"-and now he's trying to take over Hogwarts by installing his flunkie, Dolores Umbridge in the castle. I'm telling you Livia, the woman is a nightmare."

"No need to tell me," said Livia, her face scrunching up in disgust. "I met her once, and that was at the celebration party that Cornelius hosted after becoming Minister five years ago. She ate the whole celebration cake, got drunk on Sambuca, and tried to invite Dementors to the party. I never wish to meet that woman again. Although under these circumstances I'll make an exception."

Rolanda smiled predatorily. Coming to the matriarch of the Fudge family was probably the best decision she ever made.

"Then I will leave this in your capable hands Livia," said Rolanda. "Now why don't we forget about the problem and play some chess like we did when I was a kid."

Livia smiled evilly at her. "Just make sure to keep the tears in your eyes when you lose. I don't want to clean up after you."

Cornelius Fudge was exhausted.

He had appointed himself Chief Warlock after ousting Dumbledore back in July but the bloody job was simply a pain in the rear. He now had to preside over every single trial.

As he turned down the opportunity to appoint a proxy back in July out of fear his proxy might be a Dumbledore spy, he now had to preside over every single trial.

The only good thing about the work was that Dolores wasn't there.

He grimaced at the mere thought of the woman. He honestly couldn't stand his Undersecretary. He had appointed her under Lucius Malfoy's advice and the woman was simply a pain in the rear. When he decided to invoke the Ministry's help in obtaining a Defence teacher for Hogwarts, he didn't hesitate in sending Dolores. He just wanted her gone. He had figured that if he couldn't stand her, then Dumbledore and Potter couldn't either.

He was proven correct, as Harry Potter had now achieved the highest amount of detentions in Hogwarts history due to losing his temper with the toad.

He made his way home to his wife. His mother was joining them for dinner tonight. His three kids were all working and living abroad so it was just the three of them. It was the first dinner he was having with his mother since May.

After they had dinner the three of them sat in the conservatory having Ogden's Wine.

"Mallorie," mused his mum. "Would you mind leaving us for five minutes. I wish to talk with my son."

His wife left and Cornelius gulped. He recognized the tone on his mum's voice. She was angry about something, something that clearly involved him.

"Cornelius," she spoke. "I recently had an enchanting visit from an old friend who informed me of what has been happening at Hogwarts."

He began sweating. His mum mainly kept to herself and didn't really care about events that happened around either herself or the Wizarding World.

"I heard you cancelled Quidditch," she said sharply. "Do you actually believe yourself so powerful that you can control a school."

He wanted to cry, but his mum wasn't finished.

"Not only that, but you think there's some secret army out to get you. You've sealed trial transcripts which should be open to the public. You've bullied the Daily Prophet into slandering Albus Dumbledore and a fifteen year old child, and on top of it all, you allow that awful toad around children."

"But, Mum," he sputtered. "Dumbledore's trying to build an army."

"Is that your thinking, or Lucius Malfoy's?"

"How dare you, Mum," he stood up, angry. "Lucius Malfoy is an honest citizen."

"A man who will always have the taint of being a supposed Death Eater. Even if he was imperiused, the majority of people out there believe he was a Death Eater. And everyone knows how close you two are."

He had never thought of that. He sat down, sickened. People had always laughed at his reputation, and he believed it was because he used to ask Dumbledore for advice. Now it was becoming very clear to him.

"What can I do, mum," he evenly spoke. "He owns everyone."

"He doesn't own you," she spoke ferociously. "I own you."

Despite his predicament, he let out a laugh. His mum always had a sharp tongue, sharper than Minerva McGonagall.

His mirth was short-lived though as his mum started ranting again. Nearly an hour later she had finished ranting, in the process calling him a coward.

"How do you want to be remembered Cornelius?" she asked. "An Imperiused Death Eater's puppet, a coward, or a great man to be respected. Be a man and follow the law. Try the toad first, we all know she's broken the law at least ten times"

Rolanda Hooch smiled as she read the article in the Daily Prophet.

Former teacher and Undersecretary to the Minister Dolores Umbridge was sentenced to Azkaban for various crimes for life, among those crimes was an attempt to kill Harry Potter through the use of Dementors.

She looked at the last paragraph of the article with glee.

Madam Livia Fudge, mother of the Minister, has taken up the post of Senior Undersecretary. When asked why she took the position she had this to say:
"my son needs proper advice to be a leader, and I'm going to make it happen. I've finally convinced him that Lord Voldemort has returned. We are going to take the fight to him."

Rolanda Hooch shuddered at that. Although she believed Albus was an excellent war leader he was nothing compared to Livia Fudge.

The war was over in less than a month. Despite her age, Livia Fudge went out hunting Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

In the end, she dragged Voldemort personally by the ear from his hiding spot straight to the Ministry. Countless photos were taken of her and the now cowed Dark Lord as she made her trek to the Department of Mysteries.

She intended to throw Voldemort into the arch but at the last moment he broke free and ran straight through it.

Before he reached the arch he screamed, "I'm never coming back."

He never did.

AN: Rolanda Hooch is a very underused character and I found myself recently wondering what her response would be to Umbridge cancelling Quidditch. So here we are.
