Aiz walked up into the Guild looking around for the boards. She found the boards and began to read the notices. A commotion began after a flash of blue light illuminated the Guild.

Aiz turned around quickly. Looking towards the Statue of Heroes.

Bell stared in awe, no longer listening to his advisor gift the tour to himself and his Goddess. His attention was drawn to the Statue of Heroes. 22 Heroes, each in a different pose, holding the 22 Legendary weapons. His hand rose up and touched the silver shield with a gemstone carved orb inside.

A flash of blue light blinded Bell, forcing him to avert his gaze. When he opened his eyes, he saw on his left arm was the silver Shield with a ruby gemstone. He grabbed at it in panic as everyone looked at him.

Aiz saw a white haired boy of the Hume Bunny Demihuman race. He stood up confused and then cower as everyone started to talk about a Hero.

There was no mistake, the first hero in a two decades was chosen. A hero that drew her gaze at his lack of heroic looks. But, rather...cute? Yes, cute. Especially with the blush of embarrassment.

She decided that he would make a subject of study. He had her interest. Her interest in studying his but-we-weapon.

Bell sat nervously beside his Goddess. Bell was the first of Aphrodite's Familia. A young looking blonde lithe beauty with emerald eyes. She favored pink clothes that would show off her fair skin and gold with pearl jewelry like chains adorned her.

Eina stood behind Royman, the Guild Head. Royman spoke to the pair, "It is near unheard of that a Hero is chosen. Especially one with no ties to a strong Familia. But, the Shield did choose Bell. The role of a Hero is to protect the Adventurers of Orario as they make their living slaying monsters. We assign Heroes quests, tasks that can not be handled by the rather usual Adventurers. But, with Bell being Level one. I'm not exactly sure we can assign him any. Never the less, we must make no exceptions for those who have been graced by the mantle. With your permission, Goddess Aphrodite, we will be cutting his earnings to donate to fresh Adventurers."

Aphrodite was annoyed at first before she put on a smile and said with an ever cute voice, "Do we have to give you our permission?"

Blushing Royman coughed into his hand, "O-of, of course not Goddess Aphrodite."

Bell walked out with his Goddess as he spoke to her, "Goddess, you promised that you wouldn't charm anyone while we were in Orario."

Aphrodite replied to her child, "Oh relax. I didn't charm him. I merely put on a charming smile. Big difference."

Bell stared in disbelief at his status.

Rabbit's Foot - The racial skill that most Hume Bunny's have once bestowed with a Falna. This increases their battle prowess and speed. Their Agility greatly increases dramatically.

Superior Defense - The Shield Hero's Defense Stat will increase dramatically from every battle. The Shield Hero will also be able to have 3 Defense as a baseline of each Level-up. The Shield Hero can only use a Shield.

Equipment

Legendary Shield- This Shield gains unique properties and forms based on the Hero's experiences. The Shield Inventory shows the variety of forms that the shield can change into at the Hero's desire.

Bell asked somewhat frustrated, "What do you mean I can only use the Shield?!"

Aphrodite closed her eyes as she waved a book and explained, "Surely you remember the tales. The Legendary Heroes can only use the weapon that chooses them."

Bell checked his Guild issued breast lite plate-mail. It may have looked silver in color, but it was just cheaply smithed iron. His brown thoroughly binded linen jacket would provide little protection compared to leather or hide. But, he was poor until he could make some money.

He looked at the Dungeon Entrance and began his descent. He readied himself for his first adventure.

Bell charged forth with his shield and bashed it into the head of a Dungeon Mouse. The monster was bashed repeatedly and was now sufficiently stunned. Bell lifted the shield high above his head. And brought it down on the Dungeon Mouse's neck.

Bell heard the crunch of broken bones. He repeated his attack, with less force this time. Separating the head from the body. Bell exhaled in exhaustion as he grabbed the body of the 20 pound mouse by the tail. He used his knife to open the chest and pry out it's pebble size magic stone.

The Dungeon Mouse turned to ash and left behind a drop item. Bell took his Mouse Tail and placed it on the gemstone of his shield. The tail disappeared as he took note of a new shield in his Shield Inventory.

Bell heard a scream and turned swiftly to the west. Bell sprinted as his shield changed with a glow to a narrow vambrace that barely covered his forearm. His Mouse Shield boosted his speed and agility.

Bell arrived to see a battle scene, seeing a brown haired and tea red eyed maiden. She was wounded and surrounded by Goblins. One of them was a Goblin Shaman, who raised it's torch-like staff high above its head.

She was a member of the Tanuki Demihuman race. She lay wounded with a sword beside her. Bells' shield morph back to its' main defensive shield. He moved in with an incredible speed and landed in front of the maiden.

Bell used his shield to bash and smack around multiple goblins. The goblins roared as they began to attack the Hero. Bell gritted his teeth as he took a defensive stance. He blocked most of the attacks and felt the heat of the Goblin Shamans' Ember Bolt attacks. Burning ash formed into balls and flew erratically through the air to smash into Bells' shield.

The maiden expressed curiously and fearfully, "Who are you?"

Bell gritted his teeth as he kicked one of the goblins' in their calf bringing it off balance, "Bell Cranel of the Aphrodite Familia. And you?"

Crying the maiden replied trying to wipe away her tears, "Raphtalia. I was cleaning the office when I was abducted by someone. I don't know who grabbed me, but I fought out of their grip. And ran until I came here. I didn't mean to wonder into the dungeon."

Bell growled as he bashed another goblin, "So, you're a Guild worker? And someone did something so evil?"

Aiz charged into the fray knowing that the Shield Hero would need a sword, but couldn't wield one. Aiz pulled out her rapier and began to skewer the goblins.

Bell was in awe as he realized that this is how a true hero should commence battle. Bell fended off attacks from the Sword Princess, well aware of the famous adventurer of the Loki Familia. Bell knew she was only putting forth enough effort to fight on his level. Acting as a party member would.

After the battle was over, Bell said nervously, "Thank you, Ms. Aiz."

Aiz looked at Raphtalia and extended a hand to help her up. Bell took the Shaman Torch and assimilated into his shield. The Hero and Adventurer escorted Raphtalia to the Tower of Babel.
