Welcome (I do not own these characters lol)
This is my first chapter in this story. Story also gets better as I get better at writing, a little OOC. Timing of events in actual books happen as I want them too (in order to make the story flow better)
Please leave a review, I love to read them. Now, without further ado, lets start the story...
Chapter 1
Anger
Overwhelming sadness
And pain were all Percy felt anymore.
He was alone, hood up keeping his face hidden in the shadows of his jacket while he walked down the streets of New York. The night sky was filled with the stars above him and the giant buildings loomed over, making him feel insignificant and small in a large world. A dot, that's all he was.
Annabeth was gone, it's been a year since her death and Percy still feels the same pain from her loss as he did the day she died. That same dull ache that seemed to have stitched itself to his heart. It was like his other half had been torn, brutally ripped apart from him and now he was alone. Every time he closed his eyes he could still see her beautiful face, as she died in his arms.
Flashback
Percy and Annabeth were fighting side by side, moving almost as if they were one body fighting off the sea of monsters. They had just been taking a nice walk on the beach, holding hands enjoying the sunset before they realized they had left the camp boarders. Now, they were in the middle of an ambush, someone had known where they were and sent the monsters there to kill them. There were simply too many monsters there for it to have simply been a random occurrence. But, be it as it was, no monster stood a chance of beating them, Percy and Annabeth were too powerful.
"Hey wise girl" Percy said as he slashed a hellhound through with Riptide.
"I'm a little busy at the moment Percy, in case you didn't notice" Annabeth replied.
"Just wondering if you wanted to grab some pizza after this at that new Italian place on 5th Avenue" Percy said with his back to Annabeth fighting with a Lamia in front of him.
"It's a date" Annabeth said as she slashed the last monster through with her bronze gold dagger.
Annabeth walked away from Percy to lean on the side of a tree in exhaustion. The fight had left her dead tired. The dark woods gave off an unsettling feeling from behind where she sat.
Annabeth started talking "We should get cleaned up first. Wouldn't want to scare all the mortals away with all the bloo-" Annabeth was cut off. Percy looked, horrified as he had seen what had happened to her. An empousai had snuck up from the dark woods behind Annabeth and had cut a long gash down her side with its claws. Blood started coming out in heaps.
The empousai was going in for another strike, leaning in for the kill, it never had the chance. Percy threw his sword with all his might at the empousai, eyes rimmed red with anger as the sword hit its mark. He hardly noticed the dust of the dead monster, nor did he feel any pride that he had hit the vampire by throwing his sword. All he saw was Annabeth, lying on her side next to the tree she had been leaning on. He could see the blood coming out of a large jagged wound from where the vampires razor sharp claws cut Annabeth's side. He sat down beside the woman he loved, all focus as he prepared to help her.
"Annabeth, Wise Girl, listen to me, I have some nectar and ambrosia in my bag. Your not leaving me yet, not after all we've been through. I didn't go through hell and back with you just to have you go now." Percy said as he grabbed the supplies from his bag.
Percy's eyes were steeled onto Annabeth as he fed her the healing food. He tried to stop the blood flow by putting his hands over the wound. The red, hot liquid seeped through the cracks in between his fingers. He was slowing the wound, but maybe not fast enough. Percy looked into her stormy grey eyes, still fierce with determination. She wasn't going to die, not yet anyway. She gave him a weak smile.
Suddenly things got worse, Annabeth started coughing blood, it got all over Percy but he didn't care. All he cared about was his Wise girl.
"Come on Annabeth, fight, fight for me, for us, for our future" Percy pleaded.
"We're gonna have so much fun together in New Rome" Annabeth said, tears in her eyes.
"Yah, I wonder how long it will take for me to get kicked out of New Rome College" Percy said with a smile. The tears now flowing freely down his face.
Annabeth laughed, the sweet beautiful sound echoing through the trees. But the sound soon turned into a rasping cough, as Annabeth choked on her own blood.
"Shouldn't be to hard with your seaweed brain" Annabeth said. The words starting to come harder to her as she lost blood. She was healing slowly, but not fast enough. They was already a thick pool of blood surrounding them as it slowly grew bigger.
"Hey Percy?" Annabeth said.
"I think I'm dying"
Percy froze, his body as still as a deer caught in headlights. The blood flow didn't stop pouring beneath his hands. "No Annabeth, don't say that. Please don't say that. We'll get through this, just like all the other things we've been through, your not dying on me yet" Percy said determinedly, but's he could already see that she was. He refused to believe it, pushing the thoughts out of his mind.
"Percy, listen to me." Annabeth's grey eyes piercing through him seeming to go directly to his soul. "Promise me that you'll be ok. That you'll be safe when im gone. Say you'll stay safe, please."
Percy growled. "Your not dying on me Annabeth."
"Stop Percy." Annabeth said tearfully. "You and I both know I'm not going to make it. Please Promise me!"
"I promise." Percy said but he didn't really mean it, he just said it to make Annabeth feel better, and it worked. Annabeth visibly relaxed while Percy moved his arms so that he was holding her in his lap. Annabeth looked one last time at Percy, stormy grey eyes full of sadness and love.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain, more than you'll ever know." Annabeth said before her eyes closed for the last time.
"I love you too Wise Girl" Percy said with tears, but Annabeth was already gone. He was talking to a corpse. Her lifeless body going limp in Percy's arms. He was in shock, Annabeth was gone. He stared at her lifeless body and held her tightly, sobbing uncontrollably, tears mixed with her blood streamed down his face and body. Percy lay there holding Annabeth for what only seemed like minutes, but was really hours as the sun finally came up, spreading its blanket of false warmth over Percy, all his tears spent as he simply lay there now, holding the lifeless body of his love.
It was finally noon before someone found him. The camp had sent out a search party in the morning to look for the two missing campers.
Flashback End
A slow rain started to fall over New York making everything glitter with a strange light as the water captured the colors of the city in its droplets. No one else had believed Percy when he said Annabeth's death had been intentional, when he said it had been an ambush. They just told Percy that things like this happened, monsters attack and people die. And sometimes people you care about get hurt. But Percy new better, he was going to find the culprit of Annabeth's death, and whoever it was was going to suffer, slowly and painfully, he would make them pay.
Unconsciously, Percy had walked to that one Italian restaurant he had told Annabeth about the day she died. He looked through the windows of the restaurant. Rain cascading down the glass as it fell from the sky. It was as if the weather was a reflection of his emotions. The clouds were crying with him. As he looked into the bright restaurant he could see couples laughing, family's talking, and an older couple sitting near the corner holding hands in content. It made him mad, here was everything he and Annabeth should have had. He watched the young family with two kids talking, all smiles, as they ate there dinner.
They had a family, why couldn't he. Why were the fates so cruel! He banged his hand on the glass window in frustration. People in the restaurant looked over him, Percy could see the fear coming into there eyes. He was a scary sight. Dripping wet, hood up, hands on the window forming mist from the warmth of his body. He turned away from the window with a sigh and walked down the street heading home to his Moms apartment.
