The Last Act of Valor
His father was making a grave mistake, and in his last-ditch effort for safe face, Sesshomaru Inutashio of the House of the Moon demanded the swords at his father's side.
The wind lashed out "Tell me Sesshomaru, do you have something to protect,"
"This House, our name our blood,"
His father turned and looked at him, and Sesshomaru wanted to sneer, his father's eyes held contempt but also sadness for his eldest son.
"I do not need your pity father,"
"No, just my swords," He looked away just as the younger brother, stain on their blood as Sesshomaru liked to call him came running up. "Father, dont do this,"
He was young still.
"For too long I have stood silent against injustice,"
That was not true.
"What good is having power if you can not do good,"
Sesshomaru looked away, and his father knew it.
"Death only leads to more death, bloodshed only adds to more bloodshed," Lord Inutashio looked back at his eldest son "You get what you give Sesshomaru,"
"I give fear, so I am feared,"
"That is not respect my son,"
It was to him, and that's all that mattered to Sesshomaru.
Inutashio then looked to his youngest son "Honor Inuyasha is something you earn, something you can control. No one can give it to you or take it away but you,"
Inuyasha didn't understand "But you will die,"
"I have been dying," He said, Lord Inutashio was tried "It is time to pass it on,"
"You know what will happen if you fall," Sesshomaru said "You will take our house with it,"
"You won't let that happened, either of you,"
Sesshomaru growled "No one will respect his name, not with his blood,"
Inuyasha ears went down,
Lord Inutashio smiled "They think it will weaken us, but truly I tell you it will only make you stronger,"
"But is the cause of your demise?" Sesshomaru talked back,
Inutashio held out the sword of heaven to Inuyasha "Protect," He said,
Sesshomaru showed fang, "You must entrust them to me!"
His father held out his other sword "You will be king, but trust me when I say you are not yet ready,"
Sesshomaru did not reach out for the sword,
"Take it,"
He refused "What good is a sword that can not cut,"
"That is a lesson you will have to learn for yourself my son, but I tell you this the swords work together and can not be used against one another,"
With that, he dropped the sword at Sesshomaru's feet and began to walk away as the wild snow started to fall. Sesshomaru slowly looked to his brother, who held the sword of his rich desire.
Inuyasha looked up at him "We have to stop him,"
But Sesshomaru knew, that would just bring more dishonor "Speak, and I will kill you, now go,"
Inuyasha tied his sword to his side and followed after his father.
Sesshomaru looked down at the sword at his feet which was started to vanish under the cold snow. Damn that half breed and his human mother — all for humanity. Sesshomaru leaned down and picked the cold word up and looked forward. It would be up to him now to keep the House under the Moon feared and respected. He followed to after his father to the ruling that would most likely see to his head, for he had broken many codes set forth by the four demon gods.
He would die this cold winters night.
The high court would see to it because in the end, their father had to much power and they wanted it. Giving the sword to his two last sons was wise, but Sesshomaru was not afraid.
