Chapter 1!

New story and once again an OP quirked Izumi. Both Overpowered and a One Piece ability (it's Aokiji/Kuzan's). I've been thinking of this one for a while and of course it's always fun for me to use Devil Fruit abilities. Also this is a Fem!Izuku (Izumi) x Fem!Shouto (Shouko) story so that'll be something new for me to write personally.

Disclaimer: I don't own BNHA or the referenced power

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

Chapter 1: Chill

*Eraserhead POV*

Had Shouta not been someone who always expected a potential surprise he might have been startled as he left his napping place from under his first year classroom's desk. It was early, early enough that it would be doubtful if any student was here even during a normal school day but today was the first day of a new school year. However, it appeared that one of his new first year students had made their way here and Shouta could make out the quiet and even breaths as she slept in her chair. Her head nodded forward and then back up over and over and the erasing hero, between his brief thoughts of how she got in without waking him, recognized her from the video footage of the entrance exams.

Midoriya Izumi, she had scored somewhere in the lower middle of the students who had made it into the hero course. She hadn't done anything particularly special during the exam, not running out hurriedly towards the mock enemies but also still approaching meticulously, so there wasn't much to say about her performance in this way or that.

With his sleeping bag tucked under his arm, Shouta made to take his leave but a grunt stopped him as he looked over his shoulder to find the sleeping greenette waking up. She blinked her eyes lazily before focusing in on him with a blank expression.

"Homeroom teacher?" She tested curiously, a hand coming up to her mouth as she openly yawned.

"Right," the tired man answered back simply as she slightly rolled her neck, her eyes closing and brow furrowing in thought.

"Raisin? Racing? Erasing?" She listed off, her fingers counting along with her attempts, "Sensei fine?" Midoriya looked at him though she seemed to be set with her own decision.

"It'll do," he grumbled in response, not really caring much himself.

"Alright," the greenette acknowledged with one last word before she leaned back in her chair and opened a notebook, Shouta continuing on his way since the conversation was finished.

With one more glance on his way out, Shouta saw that instead of studying something the lazing girl had placed the notebook on her face and promptly fell back asleep. Light snores reached the erasing hero's ears and he softly closed the door before making his slow trudge through the hallways while a yawn of his own escaped his lips.

At least he had one student he knew wouldn't be loud.

*Shouko POV*

Shouko scanned the room every so often to take in the other students as they entered, groups already starting to form from chattering small talk, and the white and red haired girl hoped they would leave her alone at the present time. Friends and talking about nothing were lost on her and she wouldn't give anymore than just the necessary exchanges. Shouko had her own goal to accomplish and as far as she was concerned her new classmates were more like her potential obstacles. However, that being said there were some that she'd glanced over more than others.

There was a girl a couple rows ahead and to her left that was leaned back into her chair, her head going back as well and an open notebook placed on top of her face, clearly asleep despite the shuffling of the other students entering and talking. The sleeping girl had apparently been the first student to arrive and had been like that ever since the others started filing in, no one bothering to try and wake her. It didn't matter to Shouko, she had other things to think of than whatever any of her classmates were doing with their time, and the dual quirked girl tried to focus but a commotion quickly broke out not too long after.

The person seated in front of the napping girl, a boy with spiky blonde hair, had begun loudly arguing with a glasses wearing student and after the noisy exchange of words the seemingly uptight blue haired boy turned his attention to the sleeping girl.

"And you!" the blue haired boy shifted the lecture onto the now waking girl, "you've been sleeping this whole time which everyone had let slide but class time is nearly starting!" he explained, his loud voice catching everyone's attention.

The previously unconscious girl straightened in her chair, the notebook falling onto her desk, and she gave the back of her head a rub. The girl's curly and wavy hair slightly poofed out in all directions but was held down by gravity due to the somewhat long length of it, regardless it looked a bit of a mess, and she blinked her green eyes as she turned towards the person speaking to her.

"Oh my, that time already?" the green haired girl noticed slowly but then shifted her gaze to the clock, "or not quite." she noted, leaning back once more but the blue haired boy wasn't having it.

"It's disrespectful to-"

The greenette held up a hand, the gesture stopping the blue haired boy's rant, and she rifled through her bag for a moment before taking out a sleeping mask and putting it on. The glasses wearing boy was stunned silent as the greenette laid her bag down and rested her head on it, a quiet snore escaping her almost immediately.

The boy, Iida Tenya as he'd loudly introduced earlier, exploded at her disregarding behavior, "Is that any way to carry yourself at such a distinguished school?! Just what do you think you're doing?" He lectured and the greenette turned her head on her makeshift pillow while pushing up one side of her sleeping mask.

"Well, it was just getting a bit harder to sleep with all the noise and the light." the lethargic girl admitted plainly.

Iida was about to continue his scolding but a tired looking man suddenly appeared in the doorway and grabbed the class's attention before directing them to follow him outside. Realizing that that was their teacher, the students all listened to his words and filed out though Shouko noted that Midoriya remained seated. It was pointless noticing such things and with that the dual quirk user exited as well, leaving the greenette behind to do whatever it was she was doing.

The quirk apprehension test at least proved to be slightly helpful as Shouko was able to scope out the quirks of the others but on the other hand there was also a new issue.

Midoriya's quirk usage was better than hers.

Shouko, and most of students actually, had outscored Midoriya in many of the tests but what caught the white and red haired girl's eyes was the greenette's quirk. The green haired girl had an ice quirk as well but unlike Shouko she was able to make complex constructions. During Midoriya's turn at the ball toss, the greenette who had been sitting on the ground taking things easy managed to create a perfect replica of a spear with her ice and shot it off with the ball.

Despite being inferior to Shouko in power, her versatility was clearly much greater if their ice was the only thing in consideration and of course the dual hair colored girl refused to use her flames to fight. It wasn't as if it was impossible but it simply hadn't crossed Shouko's mind that someone with practically the same quirk would be close to her year, much less in the same class at that.

Clearly the greenette had performed as was expected of her, especially given her apparent laziness, but at the same time she was one of the few who wasn't even a bit tired out afterwards. She had scored somewhere around the middle of the class but wasn't exerted? That didn't sit right with Shouko and the girl decided that she would keep an eye out for the other ice user.

The test wrapped up without any other interesting events, the only thing being their teacher lying about his expulsion threat, and the students went to their respective locker rooms to change. On the way, Shouko could hear the other girls sharing information about their quirks and her ears perked when Midoriya's became the center of attention.

"What about you Midoriya? What's your quirk called?" Ashido prodded enthusiastically, the others listening in as well.

"Ice-Ice or something like that." Midoriya told them nonchalantly and the others couldn't hide their disappointment at such a name.

"That can't be it can it?" Hagakure voiced most everyone's thoughts in disbelief.

"It's pretty lame." Jirou admitted honestly and Midoriya hummed at her words.

"Like most I was 4 when I came up with that." the greenette replied, her voice casual and not seeing an issue with it.

"You can always update it." Yaoyorozu suggested and some of the girls nodded along.

"Hmm," Midoriya briefly thought it over but gave a sigh, "seems like too much trouble."

It was hard to see this girl as potential competition.

*Inko POV*

She didn't know if her daughter wanted to be a hero.

No, that wasn't quite right, Inko didn't know if her daughter wanted to be a hero anymore.

Izumi had always been someone who relatively kept to herself but when she had been younger she had a more fiery passion for heroics. The girl never talked at length about the subject, though surely she'd mentioned her favorite hero a few times but the older greenette couldn't quite remember the name, but there was no hiding how enamored her daughter was with it. Inko wasn't sure when but somewhere along the lines Izumi had seemed to suddenly lose that drive for no apparently reason to her mother. The younger girl's eyes no longer shined with that briefest hint of excitement when it came to heroics but instead became eyes that studied each situation or bit of news with careful consideration.

Inko had thought that perhaps the girl was just realizing more and more that the job of being a pro hero was a very serious profession but Izumi slowly felt as if she became someone without direction. Her daughter had always been a thoughtful person but her approach towards things shifted into a more passive and perhaps lazy way of going at things. Sitting back and waiting or just not feeling as if she could be bothered at all was Izumi's answer to things now and Inko still to this day wondered what had been the cause of all of this. It wasn't as if Izumi did things poorly or had become a bad person but she had used to be so in love with heroics that the change didn't feel like someone growing out of something.

What had confused the mother the most was when Izumi had applied to U.A. Choosing a path that she appeared so indifferent towards when she'd had so many other options just didn't make sense to Inko. Of course, her daughter passing hadn't been out of the question as Izumi was exceptionally good with her own quirk despite not truly applying herself with it.

Hearing the door and her daughter's voice announcing her return, Inko peered into the hall and greeted her back.

"Welcome back Izu, how was your first day?" the older greenette wondered as Izumi stifled a yawn.

Izumi mulled over the question for a moment, "Well...it was something." her daughter responded vaguely but Inko didn't pry as she'd become relatively used to Izumi's answers.

"Well, dinner will be ready in about an hour," Inko informed her and Izumi gave a short nod of acknowledgment before slowly walking off, presumably to her room.

Having been thinking, and worrying, about her daughter's decision to become a hero, the mother caught the younger greenette's attention.

"Izu, honey?" Inko called out to her daughter, the girl turning and peering over questioningly, "Who's your favorite hero?" the older woman finally asked as her curiosity gained the best of her.

"Don't have one anymore." Izumi stated plainly but a hint of seriousness, and maybe something else, was laced in subconsciously.

"Ah, I see," Inko remarked, shrinking back a little, "I was just curious."

Izumi hummed a note in response and continued on, leaving Inko with her own thoughts.

Her daughter just lied to her.

Notes and Stuff

By the way, the title is actually a reference to the pokemon move 'Sheer Cold' that one hit KOs but has horrid accuracy. Like how Aokiji has ridiculous power but has been seen to show mercy a number of times. Also Articuno can learn it and with Aokiji meaning 'Blue Pheasant' and Articuno being a 'blue colored bird' I figured close enough for a reference joke.

I like to call this the 'I use a lot of new canon info for my own purposes' fic. Never ignore canon bits if you can use them to make your own fics more interesting. Once again I feel like I'll avoid using Izumi's POVs for a good while because it'd instantly give away a lot of stuff and reveals, plus building her through the different perspectives feels more fun and exciting for me.

This will definitely be a more serious fic and though Aokiji can at times seem similar to Kizaru I hope I can get the differences between this Izumi and Izumi in Slice of Light shown off. They're both laid-back but in their own ways and as Sheer Cold progresses I hope I can highlight that.

On another note, I'm not saying I'll be starting another new story anytime soon as I have plenty to work on already, both existing and started but unreleased stories, but specifically what Devil Fruit powers do you think would be fun to write? I'm already work shopping maybe doing something with Haki, thinking all 3 in 1 as opposed to separate and not mixing Haki with Devil Fruits as I feel it'd be a bit much. Also I don't know whose personality I'd pull from as they do share some traits, like Garp and Luffy for example. Anyway at the moment I'm just thinking of potential Devil Fruits to be quirks.

Also, while I do write Izumi sharing some traits with the character whose power she gets I feel I'll be looser depending on who it is. So for example, let's say I use Buggy's Chop-Chop ability. I wouldn't give Izumi Buggy's cowardly and self interested disposition but I might make her have an affinity for doing things in a 'flashy' manner. So feel free to suggest Devil Fruits that you simply think would be interesting, though of course if a character is relatively likeable I'd be more inclined to give more shared traits to Izumi.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
