Chapter 1! I finally got this chapter done and can get the story moving.

Izumi (slightly aged up) x Usagiyama Rumi (slightly aged down)! This takes place 6 years after canon and I'm ignoring a few current manga things. Izumi is 22 and Rumi is 27, I made her the same age as Hawks would be 6 years later, she's actually 27 in the current canon.

I've been wanting to do this story and I've had it promised for a while now. First off, I don't think this story will have much fighting action at all. I wanted to do a lighter more romantic type story and this Izumi is also quirkless. I have more stuff to go over but they'll be in the end notes.

Disclaimer: I don't own BNHA.

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

Chapter 1: New Moon

*Rumi POV*

Rumi certainly wasn't going to thank Hawks but he definitely picked a good place to eat. Keigo had managed to convince her to grab a bite after their patrols since he was 1: bored, and 2: craving fried chicken. She figured it was fine, she was hungry and he was paying, so when he said he found a good pub she tagged along no issues. The place was small but the atmosphere was good and the green haired waitress had welcomed them, albeit a bit stiffly, kindly.

"Takami-san you usually don't bring company! Did you want the counter or a table?" The greenette asked, Rumi giving her a quick once over.

She wasn't very tall, maybe 160cm, the wild green hair tied back in a low ponytail and freckles dotted across her cheeks while her large green eyes stared innocently. Her arms were crossed and holding a serving board closely to her chest, her body language giving away how nervous she was as she fidgeted about. Her green eyes darted about back and forth between Hawks and Rumi and the Rabbit Hero mentally smirked thinking about how the young woman reminded her of a bunny.

"I ran into a friend so I figured I'd bring her," Keigo waved nonchalantly, "We'll take a table." He replied, the freckled girl leading them off to be seated. Bowing to them, the greenette left to grab them their refreshments.

"So what's got greenie so scared?" Rumi wondered, as she sat across from her winged friend.

"Hmm, it's probably cause you're here." He shrugged, his cheek propped against his hand.

Rumi snorted at his response, "Well, not the first time someone couldn't deal with me."

Keigo stared at her for a moment and let off a bark off laughter, "Nah, that's not what I meant. Go ahead and ask her yourself." He added, Rumi not having time to question him before the green haired woman returned. Placing the glasses of water in front of them, she took their orders and was preparing to go off when Rumi stopped her.

"Hey, what's you're deal with me? You keep staring." The rabbit woman asked bluntly and the greenette began to sputter.

"Ah, I-I'm so sorry it's just I-I didn't want to bother you and well-" She waved her hands frantically.

"Well what?" Rumi asked with a bit of a grumble.

"I didn't want to bother you for an autograph while you were off patrol." The young woman answered clearly, the fumbling over her words no longer present.

The woman's bright green eyes met hers fearlessly, completely different from her earlier timid looks and Rumi grunted her approval, "First time a civvy has looked at me so confidently in a while. Usagiyama Rumi." She introduced herself.

"Midoriya Izumi, It's a pleasure Usagiyama-san." Midoriya bowed in response.

"Too stiff, just call me Rumi." The white haired woman offered.

"Rumi-san then." Midoriya smiled gently and Rumi narrowed her eyes in response.

"Just take what you can get Rumi," Hawks sighed, "I've been coming here for a while and she still calls me 'Takami-san' so it's progress." He informed her.

Midoriya excused herself to resume her work leaving Keigo and herself to chat before she eventually returned to serve their food. The meal was good and Midoriya was a helpful waitress so the two high ranked heroes continued on.

Rumi sipped her drink and leaned back, "Patrols have been slow lately, not a lot of villains and only small time ones if any." She told the winged man. The whole fiasco with the League of Villains had ended years ago already and nowadays things were once again relatively peaceful.

"Huh? That just means we're doing a good job." Hawks stated plainly, "This is probably the 5th time you've complained about your light patrols."

"Can't help it, I'm suited towards combat." Rumi reminded him.

"We're both 27, maybe get a girlfriend or boyfriend. Actually, why not ask Midoriya, she's single." The winged man suggested half jokingly.

"I just met her today." Rumi told him with a point of her finger. It wasn't as if the girl was unattractive, if anything, just going by looks she could actually be within the rabbit woman's strike zone. Rumi wasn't going to quit being a hero by any means and she wasn't thinking of settling down either but she didn't hate the idea of dating.

Her friend snorted at her response, "You've always been one to take life by the horns."

The rabbit woman couldn't argue with that, she always made sure to do things without an ounce of regret so just in case her time came the next day then she'd go off without any worries. That being said, while going on a couple dates didn't mean they'd end up together, Rumi wanted a little more to go on than just the greenette's looks. The two heroes talked a bit more before Hawks decided to head out, Rumi choosing to stay for a little while longer. The white haired woman glanced over at the green haired waitress, stupid birdbrain putting ideas into her head. Midoriya was passing by her table and Rumi quickly decided to strike up a conversation.

Since it was her friend's fault for her thinking about this, she'd make sure to put his name to good use, "Does Keigo come here often?" Rumi wondered, catching the greenette's attention.

"Takami-san? Hmm, I'd say at least once a week, some times even twice." The green haired woman answered.

"And this is the first time he's told me about it? Geez talk about stingy." Rumi said with a bark of laughter.

"It's probably just because of busy schedules." The freckled woman assured with a smile.

"By the way Midoriya," Rumi prodded, taking another sip from her drink, "Have you been working here long? You seem kinda young."

The greenette put her hand to her chin in a pondering pose, "I think it's been about a year and a half since I started here. I just turned 22 this year." Midoriya informed her.

"Still in college then?" Rumi wondered.

"No, I ended up working straight out of high school." The younger woman rubbed the back of her head.

"Really, what school did you go to?" The white haired woman asked.

"I went to Seiai Academy." The greenette replied, a high ranked all girls school if Rumi remembered correctly. The waitress had to excuse herself to help the other customers and Rumi sat back while she thought. The rabbit woman briefly saw Midoriya go out to the front, likely changing some of the signs but her absence dragged on and Rumi's sharp ears picked up a slightly raised voice.

"...I guess you listened to Bakugo huh Deku? Finally threw in the towel."

Rumi focused herself and Midoriya's voice reached her ears next, "The only reason you're picking on me like you used to is because it made you feel strong when you're actually pathetic."

"What the hell did you say?" The voice growled angrily.

"I heard you applied for both U.A and Ketsubutsu's hero course but didn't make it into either one and now you're just trying to bully someone to ignore your own failures."

"That's..."

"I'm right and you know it, so instead of trying to live in the past how about you go worry about yourself." Midoriya suggested.

"Whatever." The once angry voice grumbled and Rumi could hear the stomping off feet.

Rumi left her payment on the table and made for the door, opening it quietly and seeing Midoriya's resigned smile, "I'm such a hypocrite." The girl said to herself while she switched out the signs.

"Looks like the trouble already passed," Rumi made herself known, startling the green haired woman.

Midoriya sighed a little and gave a small chuckle, "You heard that didn't you?"

"Yup, old bully?" the white haired woman asked, Midoriya nodding.

"Yeah, from back in junior high." The freckled woman told her.

"What did you mean by hypocrite?" Rumi questioned, always blunt and truthful.

The greenette seemed a bit reluctant and turned her gaze into the distance, "I actually applied for U.A's hero course but after I failed I chose my backup, Seiai Academy, and went into their general education course." Midoriya said wistfully, "I gave up even after I put in so much work and I regret it even now."

It irked Rumi a bit but something about the look in Midoriya's eyes told her that that wasn't quite right, "But you didn't actually give up did you?"

The green haired waitress seemed surprised, her mouth moving but no words coming out and she sighed, "My senpai from Seiai is a hero and I regularly do analysis work for her."

The young woman that reminded Rumi so much of a timid little bunny was clawing her way at her supposedly dead dream in any way she could. While it was true that maybe she was weak in a sense and had come short...It seemed that Midoriya was just a little tough in her own way.

"Hey," Rumi once again drew the younger woman's attention, "Go out with me."

The greenette turned into a blushing mess, a mass of words falling out of her mouth as she rambled incoherently. Rumi smirked at her and Midoriya slapped her hands over her mouth to quiet herself. Waiting for a moment, the greenette lowered her hands, her cheeks still a bit pink, and she bowed her head.

"I appreciate it but I'll have to refuse." The green haired woman met her eyes with a tired smile on her face and something about it irritated the rabbit woman.

"It's fine if you don't want to go out but if you're refusing because you think you're helping me out then I really will hate it." Rumi told her seriously, the greenette's strength from earlier had disappeared and instead of washing her hands from the situation, the Rabbit Hero wanted to see it again.

"I'm quirkless you know," Midoriya surprised her with the sudden reveal, "You're a recognizable top hero even in your civilian clothes, all it would take would me being seen with you once for people to find out about me and drag you down." The younger woman reasoned.

"I know the consequences but I asked you regardless," Rumi argued back, "When I make my own choices, I see them through."

"You're Miruko, the Rabbit Hero who respects strength. I'm just...we just wouldn't work." Midoriya tried, her voice failing her.

Rumi sighed, "I don't need you to tell me who I am or what I do and don't hate." She told the greenette, "On the other hand, I can make my own decisions on who I think you are rather than being told what all the assholes in your life said you are." Rumi didn't personally know any quirkless people before Midoriya but all the reports she had on them were...not good.

Midoriya was silent for a moment, her eyes gleaming a little, "I won't be pitied."

"I asked before I even knew you were quirkless."

"We may not work out."

"We'll see," Rumi replied, "So I'll ask you again, would you go out with me?"

"Yes, I'd like that." Midoriya told her clearly then suddenly turning her back to her, her frame trembling a little, "See, I'm already crying." She told the rabbit woman with a shaky voice, "So don't look, you'll hate it."

Rumi internally sighed at the greenette's actions, "Didn't I tell you that I'll decide if I hate something for myself." She reminded the younger woman as she stepped around to properly face her once more.

The greenette's tears trailed down her face, she looked tired, a bit happy, and uncertain but she did her best to keep eye contact with Rumi. Using the back of her index finger, the Rabbit Hero brushed at some of the tears.

"Maybe it's a little pathetic," Rumi admitted as she wiped away another tear, "but I don't hate it."

Notes and Stuff

This chapter was a bit of a tough one since a quirkless Izumi means that she's likely timid which she is in this story. I needed for her to still manage to get Rumi's attention but have that shy personality intact and that's the main reason this chapter took me a long time. I think I managed to have Izumi just on the cusp of being able to get Rumi's attention so hopefully you all think so as well.

Because Rumi is so straight forward and does things without regrets, I didn't think she'd wait very long to ask Izumi out once she was interested. They're not quite 'together' yet but I wanted to write the trials and tribulations of their relationship while it was already sorta 'established'.

I have some plans with both of the facts that Izumi tried for U.A as well as her having attended Seiai. You can bet as I progress I'll be writing a lot more sweet stuff between the two of them but they need some build up before I get there.

Quick few questions and I'll probably ask some of these on my larger stories when I update them, Would you guys hate if I did another OFA Itsuka? The idea's there and I actually rehauled Itsuka's quirk and made it entirely different so it could fit in with my idea for her using OFA. Let me know on that.

I currently have two OP Izumi stories in the works since I asked and people seemed to be up for it. One is an Izumi x Momo story and the other is why I was thinking of another OFA Itsuka but I could shift that to another story and go mega rare pair instead. Once again, let me know.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
