I've been thinking about this idea for a while now and I really wanted to get it moving somewhere.
Of course this will be a Fem!Izuku (Izumi) x Kodai Yui story and I've gone for a pretty big canon switch up in a few places so I hope everyone enjoys that. I'm trying something pretty new I think.
This isn't really a crossover story, there's just some themes here and there and some references.
Disclaimer: I don't own BNHA
Enjoy, more notes at the end!
Chapter 1: Stronger!
*Yui POV*
Just because Yui kept her emotions hidden beneath her stoic face did not mean that she couldn't feel them. Happiness, anger, sadness, and most currently...excitement.
It was the entrance exam for U.A's heroics course and the black haired girl had once again shrunken another robot and smashed it beneath her foot. A few others only had parts of themselves size changed causing them to topple over as they lost their balance from Yui's quirk use. She had racked up a relatively large amount of points and was confident in her placement when the zero pointer arrived. The stoic girl would have retreated like the rest of the testers considering there was seemingly no merit to engaging such an enemy but a blur of green darting right by her stopped Yui in her tracks.
It was a girl, her dark green locks springing wildly as she ran towards the robot. Eyes alive with burning confidence and focused on the faux villain's path, which Yui had just realized that there was a girl trapped there. The greenette's jacket flapped and the big bright words "Ride Free!" shone on the back as she jumped with what must have been a strength enhancement type quirk. The girl sailed upwards towards the robot's head, her leg outstretched for a flying kick, and Yui felt her heart thump as the greenette blasted straight through the zero pointer.
Yui couldn't be sure that she didn't fall in love when the greenette saved the day with a Rider Kick.

Yui walked the familiar aisles of the old video store she came to so often. It was a small place that managed to stay afloat thanks to its collection and dedicated regulars, Yui being one of them. Once more she caught a glimpse of green and turned to see the green haired girl from the entrance exam. She was happily but intently searching through the Tokusatsu section, her bright green eyes pouring over the selection.
"Hmm, Ultra Series, Kamen Rider, Maybe Godzilla?" The girl voiced quietly, obviously trying to decide what she wanted to pick. Yui liked most Tokusatsu things but she had to admit she was particularly partial to the Ultra Series and she was lost in her own thoughts when the greenette noticed her, "Oh, sorry did you wanna look too?" She asked politely, getting Yui to look at her.
"Yes, if you don't mind," Yui returned politely, calmly taking a place beside the greenette. The two stood beside the other quietly, looking over the titles without a word and Yui's heart skipped about.
"By any chance did you take the U.A hero course exam?" The greenette asked out of nowhere, still reading the back of a case she pulled out, "I think I remember seeing someone who looked like you there."
Yui wanted to say that she recognized the girl too but kept her calm demeanor, "Yes, I took the exam."
The girl turned to her with a small smile, "Well I hope you passed, I'm Midoriya Izumi by the way."
"Kodai Yui," The black haired girl introduced herself simply. Yui knew she wasn't the best with conversation so she quickly wracked her brain for a topic, "Are you a fan of Tokusatsu?" Not her best attempt, the girl clearly was with how thoroughly she examined the section.
Her eyes lit up and Yui felt a bit relieved, "Yeah!" She stated cheerfully, "I've always enjoyed it, ever since I was a kid, and I still love watching it even now." Midoriya explained energetically. The girl was more enthusiastic and high energy than from her first appearance.
Yui couldn't help it since she was so curious, "I believe I saw you at the exam as well Midoriya-san. You defeated the zero pointer with a Rider Kick." She recalled, causing the girl to flush a bit.
"I thought it was kinda cool," Midoriya rubbed at the back of her head.
"It was," Yui stated immediately, surprising the greenette, "I thought it was...cool."
"Thanks Kodai-san." Midoriya blushed, "Ah, I gotta head home but we should get together and watch stuff sometime." The freckled girl offered, now making Yui feel flushed.
"I'd like that Midoriya-san," Yui replied, swapping contact information with her new friend. She looked forward to seeing Midoriya again.

Yui was 12 when she decided that she truly wanted to become a hero. A villain attack nearby had caused a number of buildings to collapse including her family's home. In desperation and a slight bit of panic she managed to use her quirk to shrink the rubble that injured and was trapping her family. The black haired girl was so terrified of losing her parents at that time and with the thought that other people were experiencing what she was, Yui dashed off and began using her quirk to save as many victims as possible. While the heroes and villains were distracted and away from the destruction, Yui continued saving person after person eventually dropping to her knees in exhaustion when the situation had been resolved.
Some of the heroes and law enforcement on the scene had scolded her, not for staying close to a villain fight, but for her quirk usage. While it was true that she had acted without thinking of the safest way to remove rubble without injuring anyone due to the time constraint, they were only mad about the fact that she used her quirk when she wasn't supposed to. It was the first time she had felt anger so intensely and it even snapped her powerful stoic appearance. Yui snarled angrily but bit down her words, it wouldn't do any good to yell.
She was promptly defended by all the victims and their families that she assisted, the people calling for the heroes and police to layoff of her and many saying they wouldn't be there without her. Every single person and their families had thanked her profusely telling her to not be discouraged and that she had saved them. Carrying their words, Yui promised she would become an incredible hero that people could depend on.
Her actions had caught the attention of a hero that day and ever since then she had trained and trained both by herself and under their guidance to reach this moment. With her letter in hand she sat quietly in her room and opened the envelope.

She had passed, even taking 2nd place, and she eagerly sent a message over to Midoriya while she waited. Yui smiled when Midoriya told her she passed as well but the black haired girl's face darkened when it was revealed that they'd be in separate classes. She had hoped to be in the same class but apparently that wouldn't be the case. Midoriya seemed quite nice, perhaps a little free spirited in her opinion, after Yui got to know her over the last week. Despite that, Yui found that Midoriya was quite dedicated to and serious about heroics. The greenette looked a bit down when she told Yui that she dreamed of heroics from a young age but the black haired girl didn't press the matter, whatever it was.
Yui had never particularly been close to anyone and while maybe she had been admired by her classmates she didn't really make friends. She admitted that she was a bit unapproachable and it was true that she wasn't the most eager to socialize person but she didn't hate the idea of making friends. She truly hoped that even if her strange feelings for Midoriya turned out to be nothing then at least the two could be friends.
Looking at the time, she realized that she was early to the meeting so she peered around. Yui wanted to practice her quirk a little so she peered around, no one in sight. Standing up, the black haired girl stretched.
A sharp crackle.
A spark of red.
Yui took off, One For All flowing through her.

*Izumi POV*
Izumi was going to be a hero. Her dad never agreed with her decision but he nonetheless indulged her in his own way and even if she despised him, part of her knew she was able to pursue heroics because of him. Of course, due to the circumstances, she and her mother never saw him anymore and he was quite removed from their lives.
Izumi stared at her hand, turning it over while she inspected it. She was quite strong even without her quirk, more powerful, more durable, and all of it through mind numbing experimentation. All of it so she, a quirkless child, could properly receive a powerful quirk.
She still remembered her father's words.
"I created the quirk, there is no reason I can't do it again."
Her father told her of his creation of One For All and she became the template for not only its new variant but for the experiment in creating engineered human weapons. Izumi couldn't remember how she managed to survive through it, she simply clung to whatever she could that would keep her sane and as a young child she thought of her favorite show Kamen Rider. A man who was experimented on to become a weapon for evil only to escape and become a force for good.
Izumi shook her head, trying to get rid of thoughts about the man. She had made it to U.A! She could continue earnestly chasing her dreams without being shackled down. She'd show everyone that she could be their hero.
Notes and stuff
So right off the bat Yui has OFA and Izumi is AFO's daughter. It's also a new pairing for me and the usual curse of rarepairs means I don't have too much to work with in terms of knowing a lot about Yui's character other than what seems to be given to us.
The story originally stemmed from me thinking about if AFO attempted to make a copy or variant of OFA and with what we know in the current parts of the manga, I added the part of Izumi being experimented on to have a stronger body to support the quirk. Izumi's 'OFA' is going to act similar to the original OFA but I'll add some twists and changes to it. I still haven't come up with a name for it though.
Yui, I'm going rogue everybody. When I was thinking about who I was going to give OFA to I pretty quickly got to the conclusion that Yui would be a seriously strong all around hero with it. Making rubble smaller for rescue, enlarging a ring then shrinking it around someone for capture, and then OFA for not only fighting but carrying enlarged objects. She'd become an awesome all around type hero. I made up that little backstory of hers based on her quirk and because I needed a way to introduce her to All Might. Also I made her full cowl red because of her costume.
So with that in mind, Izumi x Yui, and with Yui's suit being based on Ultra Seven from the Ultra Series I decided I'd make Izumi themed towards Kamen Rider, which also worked out with the whole 'OFA' copy and experimentation. There will probably be a lot of Tokusatsu references and they won't be exclusive to only one character, so just for example Izumi's costume might reference two different Kamen Riders or something like that.
I hope to get somewhere with this story but it's not as planned out as some of my other fics so updates will probably be sporadic since I need to do more outlining and researching.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
