Chapter 1

Sam's POV

I stood back at the thought of what was about to happen. I was coming home. For good. I had previously said my goodbyes to Cat and promised to visit her. I thanked Dice for what he finally had admitted to me about Freddie during the tuna fish jump shamble. That he almost blurted out that he loved me. It was at that moment that I knew it was time to come home and see everyone. Spencer, Gibby, and most importantly, Freddie freakin Benson.

I choked up on the clutch of my motorcycle and continued on my way until I neared a sign for Seattle. My entire body felt numb and like I had absolutely no control over it, which was a little concerning since I was driving on a highway. That was until I saw a sign for donuts and decided to take a little pit stop. The perfect thing to calm me down. Worked like a charm. I scarfed down almost half a dozen donuts before I started to ease up a little.

In less than an hour, I would be back. So I hopped back on my bike and cruised the rest of the way home, feeling only slightly nauseous. Still not sure if it was the nerves or the 5 donuts I had just had, but probably a little of both. And soon, I saw it. The Bushwell Plaza Sign. God I hadn't been here in almost 8 years at this point. Not since the day Carly left for Italy and part of me had been lost. I don't know how my life would have been without Cat by my side after everything. I slowly got off my bike and walked toward the front door, my heart in my throat as I moved. And a breath of relief filled my body as I saw Lewbert and his fuzzy little friend sitting at his desk, screaming at some poor woman about God knows what. It was suddenly as if nothing had changed. So, I slipped past the screaming psychopath and hopped onto the elevator. My entire body tingled as I hit the 8 button. As the floor numbers went up, my anxiousness did as well. And when I heard that ding, my stomach sank. I walked down the hall with as much confidence as I could seem to scrape up from the deepest parts of me. I lifted my clenched fist up to the door and gave it a few knocks. I stood there impatiently waiting for the door to swing open and it never did. My happiness suddenly gave way and this intense sadness filled my entire body. "I guess he isn't here anymore. I missed my chance." I said just a little quietly.

"No, I don't think you did." a (kinda) deep voice answered back at me. I whipped my entire body around to see the man I thought about every day for who knows how long.

"Samantha Puckett, as I live and breathe." he said with a smirk.

"Well, if it isn't Fredward Benson." I replied as a smile spread across my face. I ran down the hall toward him and as I got just merely inches away from him, he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me in. I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed him hard, and he reciprocated. Suddenly all of the nerves and the sadness seemed to disappear and all that was left was relief. He gave me a quick kiss on the top of my head as he put my back down.

"Alright. Enough of this emotional chiz. I need to hear about what you've been doing these last few years. You free for a smoothie?"

"Uh, I'm actually meeting someone in a few minutes. How about we do dinner tonight though, say 8 o'clock?"

"Yeah, sounds good." I replied.

"Ok, cool. Wanna come in for a few minutes before I have to leave? I was coming up to change and stuff" he asked as he opened his door and gestured to the door before I even had time to answer.

"Your mom home?"

"No, she actually moved out a few years ago and let me take this place."

"Sick." I replied as he shut the door behind us and headed on over to the fridge.

"You want anything, Sam?"

"Nah, I'm good."

"Sorry, what? Since when does Sam Puckett not want anything from the fridge?"

"Since I had 5 donuts like 45 minutes ago, Fredwad. I see you're just as funny as you were 6 years ago." I wittily replied back.

"Ahh, thank you. I see you haven't changed either."

"Not really, no. So, when.." I was interrupted by a knock at his door. He went over to answer it and a beautiful, brunette girl in a tight red dress was on the other side of the door.

"I thought we were meeting at the restaurant?" He said to this random girl.

"Oh, sorry sweetie. Must have gotten our wires crossed." she explained as she gave him a quick kiss on his lips. Okay, maybe not so random. Our eyes suddenly met from across the room and she let out a "Who is she?" toward Freddie. He explained to her who I was and she seemed a little too relieved. I wonder what he has told her about me. I moved to the front door. "Maybe I should go. I want to stop in and see Spencer anyways."

"Alright, we're still on for dinner later though, right Puckett?"

"Absolutely, Benson. See you at 8." I waved goodbye as they went down the hallway into

the elevator. Who was she? And why did I already hate her? Like truly wanting to beat the fudge out of her with my butter sock, hate her. Anyways, I stopped in to see Spencer, and to my surprise as I knocked on the door was the one and only, Carly Shay standing in the doorway, fresh off a plane with her bags in the middle of the living room.

"Sam?!" she squealed.

"Carly?" I said as my jaw hit the floor.

She rushed into me and lifted me up. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and she shook me vigorously with joy. "I can't believe you're here, Sam. I missed you so much."

"I missed you more, kid."

"Not possible," she grinned. "How did you know I was coming back to Seattle today?"

"I actually didn't. I came to see Benson. And by the way, who's that chick he's with?"

"Ohhhh, someone seems jealous of our former tech boy, I see."

"I am not. Just trying to figure out who the skunk bag he's with is." I answered angrily.

"Anyways, that's his girlfriend. I think her name is Robin." She smiled at me.

"Robin is a stupid name." I snickered.

"Oh, Sam, don't be jealous of Freddie. I think he's really happy with her. Or at least he seems to be." She grinned as she wrapped her arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah, whatever. Hey, where's Spencer? I wanna see him."

"He should be in his room. SPENCERRRRR!"

"Coming!" He yelled back. He came out moments later and as soon as he laid his eyes on me, his jaw dropped. "Is that Samantha Puckett I see?"

"The one and only." I smiled.

"Come here, kiddo." And he pulled me in for a hug. He gestured for Carly to come join us. "I missed my two crazy girls," he muttered. We all laughed and eventually sat on the couch, talking about anything and everything, trying to catch each other up on the events of our lives so it was as if none of us were ever separated. I missed this so much. You have no idea.

Later, I checked my phone and it was 7:30. I also had a text from Freddie telling me where to meet him. "Alrighty guys, mama's gotta go. I'll check in with you guys later."

"Hey, where ya going? Carly asked.
"I'm having dinner with Freddie in a few. Don't wanna be late." I said, trying to get the door open before Carly could make a comment. But, I just wasn't quick enough.

"Wow. Sam, you have a date with Freddie tonight. OoooOoo"

"Would you quit it? It's not a date. I haven't seen the nub in over 6 years. Just two friends catching up. That is all." I explained to my wonderfully crazy best friend.

"Uh huh. Just catching up. I see what's happening here." she smirked at me in a way I know all too well.

"Oh shush. I'll be back later tonight and I'm sleeping over. Mainly because I haven't seen you in 8 years and I miss you so much, but also a little bit cause I have nowhere else to stay tonight." She smiled at me and opened the door for me. As I neared the elevator, I heard her yell, "Have fun on your date!"

"It's not a DATE!" I yelled back and saw her smile as she closed the door.

I got to the restaurant after changing in the bathroom of a gas station. I couldn't wear the outfit I wore out here. Ew. I put on a purple, silk slip dress and some fishnets underneath. I layered a few necklaces and a pair of dangly little earrings as well as some fancy perfume sample I took out of the magazine in Carly's mailbox. What can I say? I'm pretty classy. I walked in a little nervous, but definitely not as nervous as earlier that day. And there he was. Sitting at a table for two in a tux. A really cute tux and I could see his muscles right through it. He's gotten bigger since the last time I saw him. He stood before me and gave me a side hug and peck on the cheek. On the table were already two plates of lasagna. He knows me all too well. We talked for a few minutes about meaningless stuff before I blurted out, "So, I see you have a type." completely meaning for it to sound snarky.

"I don't know what you mean." he responded.

"Oh, you know, brunette, beautiful, tall. Just funny to me is all."

"Ouch." he said grinning and looking hurt at the same time. "What were you then?" he asked.

"I don't know. Not much though, I'm guessing, since I haven't heard from you in over 6 years."

He got up and any sign of any emotion other than anger left his face. I knew I messed up when I said it but it was too late to take back now. "I'm sorry," he said sarcastically, "Did I just happen to miss all the thousands of phone calls and text messages you sent me? Or did you send me hundreds of letters and the post office just lost them all? Huh, Sam?" I just looked down at my plate, not saying anything. "Sam, I asked you a question. Did you reach out to me even ONCE in the last 6 years?"

"No." I said sternly, lifting my eyes up to meet his.

"So don't blame it all on me. This was a two way street, Puckett." By then, everyone was staring at us. He hurried into the men's room and I soon after got enough courage to chase after him. I swung the door open and threatened the lives of everyone in there and they all scurried out in seconds.

"Wow, you really have not changed one bit." he said, raging.

"Why are you so mad at me Benson? Yeah, I didn't call you at all, but you never called me either."

"Yeah, I know. I'm not mad at you…" I looked at him questioning what he had just said. "...anymore" he finished. "I was pretty mad at you a minute ago."

"Uh yeah, well duh." I replied.

"So, why did you even come here?" he started to shout a little again.

"I just wanted to, ok" I lied.

"Sam, tell me the truth! Did you come here because you still have feelings for me or , something? Because I have a girlfriend, you know? And she's really gr-"

"No!" I yelled back. "Of course not." except I'm pretty sure I did.

"Then why?"

"I told you already. I came back cause I missed Seattle. And Spencer and Carly."

"Sam, you're lying to me."

"No, I'm not." I screamed. He stepped just a little closer to me.

"Tell me the truth."

"Fine! Maybe I still feel something for you, okay. Are you happy? I wished I'd written to you over the last few years and I'd thought about it so many times, but I just couldn't. I didn't know how you were feeling and now, I'm too late. You have a girlfriend, we haven't talked in years, and, apparently you hate me now by the way you keep screaming at me."

"You drive me crazy, Puckett," he growled, steam basically coming out of his ears. And before I could get any word other than a sappy "sorry", he grunted at me again. "Lock the door."

"What, no. I'm not locking the door. What is wrong with you, Benson?"

"I said lock the door."

"Okay, fine." I turned to the door and clicked the lock. "but I don't see how locki…" he grabbed me by the waist and spun me around, facing him. He lifted me up with one arm and carried me over to the sink as I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck. I never knew he had it in him. He looked deeply into my eyes and I will admit, I was looking pretty stunned. He pressed his lips passionately onto mine, gliding his hands down my sides. He opened his mouth and begged for me to let his tongue slip in. I quickly obliged. He then moved onto kissing my neck and chest all over, and a little moan slipped off my lips. I kicked my shoes off as he pulled my fishnet stockings off. I took his coat off and lifted his shirt and tie over his head and threw them on the floor and went right back to intensely kissing him. He unzipped the back of my dress and pulled it down past my shoulders. He was kissing me all over. I undid his belt and unzipped his pants. And we continued on kissing, getting deeper and deeper into it. I could not believe it. For the first time in too long, he was finally mine again, at least in that moment. And it could not have been better. Until I realized what we had just done…
