Elphias Doge looked at the two of them, his rummy eyes watching them as he recited the words.
"Do you, Hermione Jean Granger, take Harry James Potter as your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," she whispered.
"Do you, Harry James Potter, take Hermione Jean Granger as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," he whispered.
"I know pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Potter. You may kiss the bride."
Harry leaned down to kiss his new wife. She tasted like vanilla and sea salt, and he found himself intoxicated by her. Even though this might be unfair, using their contacts to get told about the marriage law before it was enacted, before they would be assigned to get married to someone they might not even know, they didn't care.
They had each other.
Harry loved her. He loved how she curled up with a book, her socks too big as well as her sweater. He loved how he could tell her anything, and know that she wouldn't judge him. He loved she would tell him, "You could be the greatest." He would always respond, "You could be the best."
The world might know their names, they might be in some sort of hall of fame, but he always gravitated her like a mouth to a flame. She was everything, everything he could ever want and he would do everything to be what she needed.
And they needed to be together, which is why they were getting married in a small, little church in Diagon Alley with only two witnesses in Ron and Neville, who in two days would find out who they were going to spend the rest of their lives with.
Harry knew how lucky he and Hermione were that they already knew.
He wondered how many else were lucky enough to know. He wondered how many of those had no idea they would not be able to spend the rest of their life with the person they imagined.
This is going to be a collection of seven stories.
