Craft 19: The First Day

We are Taiso

Stepping into the bathroom, I placed down my Uniform on the side of the sink. Removing my clothes I begin slipping into my Uniform. Removing my shirt I spotted a small growth on the side of my ribs. Sigh~ I must have done it in my sleep. Grabbing the growth I pull it out with the pain only being a quick sting. I need to be careful, if it had gotten bigger it may have hurt someone… or me. Staring at the metal growth I glance at my bracelet. I put my shirt on and the rest of my uniform on. Pocketing the metal into my pants pocket, before glancing at the mirror.

The Beacon Smiths uniform consists of a white collar neck shirt with short sleeves, a long sleeved black and yellow coat, black jeans, brown work boots, and a brown apron, but the apron is left near the forge area with our names on it. Each uniform has a badge that represents which class we are in. My badge has a sword and rifle crossed in an X with a hammer in the middle to represent weapon Blacksmithing.

"Okay, I'm ready." I said, stepping out of the bathroom. "You two ready?" I turned to the guy changing in the room with me. "G-Give me a sec..." Jake said, pulling up his jeans. "Hey? You boys almost done there? We have to go soon." Rachel said from the other side. "I'm done, I'm coming out." I said leaving the bathroom.

Jake:(putting on a coat) I'll be out in a bit!

Rachel:(looks in) Well hurry up, if we're gonna make it we need to go soon.

Taiso:(stretches) Hmmm, the first day is already here.(looks at Rachel) How do you feel?

Rachel:(shrugs) Honestly, a little nervous.

Taiso:(smiles) Figures, any one would be.

"Okay, I'm ready." Jake said coming out of the bathroom. Jake Amberson and Rachel Maroons, my roommates and quick friends. Glancing at the clock on the wall I see the time is 7:45. "Good timing, we need to go now or else we won't make it." I said grabbing my bag with my things inside, Jake and Rachel followed suit as I exited the dorm room. "Let's go." I gestured to go.

Jake is a 5ft 9in tall man with light red skin and lizard-like scales across the body, he has amber eyes, cyan hair in a short straight cut style. He's dressed in the same Beacon Smiths uniform as me. He's also in the same weapon smith class as Taiso.

Rachel is a 5ft 7in tall woman with tan skin, braided red hair styled in a ponytail, with orange eyes. Dressed in a female Beacon Smiths uniform which is the same but made to better fit the female body. Again she is in the same class as Taiso and Jake

Taiso:(Jake and Rachel run past) Lead the way you two- Ah, Wait up!(Runs after) At least let me finish what I'm saying!

Rachel:(Running) You know, this may not be the best time to say this but…

Jake:(running alongside) If you have something to say, just say it!

Rachel:(glances at main building) Is that Team's RWBY and JNRP?

Jake and I look over to see the two teams running towards the main building. "Looks like it." I said watching the 8 figures run off into the main building. "Looks like they're late too." Jake said, we look ahead. Running past the tower, we move to the training halls, nearby are the arsenal and Forges. The three of us enter the Arsenal and into a room to the right of it, inside is a hallway that leads to multiple lecture halls. The three of us enter the hall close to the doorway, getting to our seats. The three of us let out a sigh of relief as we got our things out.

Taiso:(taking out notes) We made it, with time to spare too.

Jake:(taking out pencil case) Yeah, let's hope the others got to class on time too… Speaking of.

Rachel:(glances at Jake) What? Did you forget something? Because we don't have the time.

Jake:(looks at Rachel) No, no I got everything. It's just with our assigned teams,(points to Taiso) Lost boy here got team ALAS,(points at self) I got team JNPR,(points at Rachel) and this lucky bastard got team RWBY. A full lady team.

Taiso:(sweatdrop) Ah, I think I see where this conversation is going. You're jealous of her being able to go and hang out with them alot more than you or me.

Jake:(looks at Taiso) Yes! That's exactly it. Like, granted being around Pyrrah Nikos a famous warrior from Almoria is great and all, but an all Girls team! It's any man's dream to be in a situation like that!

Taiso:(crosses arms) While I don't disagree,(looks at Jake) I doubt you would make any move on them.(listing off gesture) Weiss wouldn't even talk to you, Blake would straight up ignore you if you did, Yang maybe but you'd be competing with so many other guys, and Ruby is likely the best option… if it wasn't for Big Lion Sister Yang getting in the way.

Rachel:(nods) He's right. You also seem to forget that Taiso here is going to be part of the legend books, as the support of an ALL Rider Team. ALAS is the first Hunter team to be composed of all 4 Riders. That hasn't happened in generations! Or… At all now that I think about it.

Scratching my cheek as I can feel them slowly warm up. The chattering goes silent as all eyes of the room fall on a figure, as we see Ma-Boss Paul walk into the room. "Class begins now, everyone take your seats." Paul tells everyone, as he puts his stuff on the table. "Okay for today-" And like that class begins.

Later…

Soon as the bell rang, Me, Jake, Rachel, headed out for Lunch and there we met up with our assigned teams, all of us sitting together at the same table. "So how was class for you guys?" I ask. Weiss's face scrunches with clear frustration, Ruby slumps down in shame, as everyone else gives cursory glances at the two. "Hmm… Not so great, got it." I said continuing to eat.

Jake:(glances at Ruby) What happened?

Artoria:(sweatdrop) Let's just say there were some… disagreements.

Weiss: That's one way of putting it.

Everyone: …

Alborz:(turns to Taiso) Ignoring the blemishes of shame, how was your class?

Taiso:(shrugs) It's fine, mostly going over the basics.

Jake:(nods) Yeah, normal first day stuff. Though, I figured we could have gone over some basic combat too.

"You'll get there, they just need to "hammer" in the basics." Yang said with a smirky smile to her face. "Boo~" Nora said, I let out a small chuckle. Jake and Rachel have a mixed reaction. "Good timing, but not great landing." Artoria said looking at Yang, Yang simply smiles and shrugs. As Jake is about to have a spoon of soup, he pauses.

Jake:(lower spoon) Speaking of landings, you guys were there when that supposed fifth Rider appeared,(points at Artoria) what was he- Or she, like?

Rachel:(nods) Yeah, I heard about that. Was it a girl or a guy?

Taiso:(glances at the two) Really? Yeah… Now that you mention it. There were rumors about that- Not the Gender stuff but.(looks at Artoria) What's up with that?

Nora:(raises arm) Well their was-

Pyrrah:(puts hand over Nora's mouth) We were asked to not reveal anything by the teacher. So unfortunately we can't say.

Jake:(sighs) Ah… Shame. Ah, anyway. It is the first week of classes so we're done for the day, yeah? What are you guys up to?(looks at Weiss) What do yo-(Weiss walks off) O-kay, Ruby ho-(Ruby walks off) Bl-

I place my hand on Jake's shoulder and shake my head side to side. "Whatever is going on it's best to leave it." I said, collecting my stuff and putting away my dishes. It's about time to go on a patrol. Putting away the dishes I go back to the table and pick up my things. "I'm gonna go out into town to buy some things. See you back at the dorms." I said waving goodbye to everyone. "Are you sure you can handle it yourself?" Jake asks.

Taiso:(chuckles) I know my way, and if I do get lost.(takes out scroll) I will use my Scroll map to find my way!

Artoria:(stands up) Hold on, I'll come with you!

Taiso:(turns to Artoria) I'm fine Artoria, I know the path!

Artoria:(shakes head) It's not that, it's just… I need some things in town too. So I may as well come too.

"Oh." I said, her face is more concerned if anything. Well, I can patrol and still keep her company at least. "Sure, let's go." I gestured to her to follow. She packs her things and we leave the cafeteria, as we leave I can see that she's struggling to find the words. Time to take the initiative. "So~ What's on your mind?" I ask.

Taiso:(walking) It's clear you didn't come with me because you actually have something to get in town.

Artoria:(looks at ground) Of course you knew.(looks at Taiso) Team RWBY isn't the only team that's having… Issues.

Taiso:(crosses arms) Oh? Having trouble talking? Or did you have some kind of disagreement?

Artoria:(shakes head) No… it's more like, we had nothing to talk about. After dinner last night, we just went to sleep. This morning was incredibly silent too.

Taiso:(raises one hand to chin) Did you guys have nothing to talk about? Or even a game to play together?

Artoria:(crosses arms) No…

Taiso:(turns and walks backwards) Well, then why do you think none of you talked to each other? I can see Leo and Shizuka being distant, but I figure at least Alborz would be up to talking.

Artoria:(shakes head) Not really. Leonidas and I have a more professional relationship. Shizuka only talks strategy with me… That one time. Alborz just keeps to himself oddly when not interacting with others.

Taiso:(walks straight) I see… Then, what you need is an icebreaker.

Artoria:(puts hand on chin) Icebreaker? I have one at home.

Taiso:(turns to Artoria) Oh? You do have a game you can play with the others?

Artoria:(looks at Taiso) Game? But you said ice-(blushes) Oh-Ooh! That's what you meant!

Taiso:(sweatdrop) Wha- Of course that's what I meant. When you need something to connect with others, you need a fun game to bring people together! How do you not know that?(shrugs) Whatever, that just adds one more thing to the shopping list.(gestures) Come on, if we don't go now we'll miss the ship down to the town!

Artoria: Ah- Wait for me!
