Hi there! I've recently played the new game of Fire Emblem and I wanted to try a story with Lucina. However, I've got to say that I'm not good at adventure's stories, so I'm not sure how a Fire Emblem fic will work (But who knows, maybe one day I'll go into it and try to do one). So I thought that this would do! Maybe it's not really fair to do this, but please deal with it. After all, if you don't like it you're free to leave whenever you want. If you do like it, feel free to leave a review! Hope you enjoy! :)
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters in this story. They belong to Nintendo.
Warning: English isn't my main language. Though it can be pretty decent, I can still commit a couple of mistakes. If that's the case, please tell me any grammar or spelling mistake you see and I'll correct it ASAP.
Ch. 1 Training a princess
Sigh. That's what came from you while you looked with indecision at the petite figurine standing on the table in front of you. You were still unsure if that was a good idea, or if you just wasted your money for nothing. Marcus said that you won't regret this decision, and even if your best friend could be a little troublesome he often was right with his predictions.
"I still don't believe how you ended here" You said to the figure as you remembered what happened that morning.
FLASHBACK
"Ha! There you go buddy!" You yelled as you looked at the screen with decision as your fingers pushed the remote's buttons restlessly. It was Saturday in the morning, so you and your best friend Marcus had free time to waste. Marcus suggested playing something on your Wii U; most likely, the new Super Smash Brothers
"Man, what do you do to win all the time?!" He said a little upset. You both loved to play that game, so once in a while you played with him in his place, or in yours.
After an hour, you decided to stop playing to have a little snack. You offered him a couple of cookies, some juice or a sandwich "Dude, you have to tell me what you do to win" He said.
You laughed slightly "You just need to practice. After all, you used a character you've never used before"
He looked at the ceiling and nodded "True…" You remained silent a couple of seconds before he asked you with curiosity "Have you got any amiibo?"
"What?" You asked confused.
"An amiibo! You know, those figures which you can use in-game to train them, fight against or alongside them… I didn't see you using one!" He said with a sparkle in his eyes.
"Oh, that… I don't have one, I'm not interested" You said indifferent.
"WHAT?! Are you serious?!" He said totally freaked out.
"Why do you react like that? It's not a big deal"
"No, that's wrong! It's totally cool! It's just like training a pokemon! Imagine it… training your own and unique fighter so it can beat any human player…" He said waving his arms in such a… fabulous way, so to speak.
You sighed as you were cautious of what's was going to happen. Marcus could be really stubborn; he won't stop until you agree. And you weren't going to waste your time with it, so you decided to make things faster.
"If I buy just one, you'll leave me alone?" You said unwillingly as you rested your head on your hand.
"Sure! One would do. Let's go buy it!" He yelled as he stood up in a second. It took you by surprise.
"N-Now?"
"Yeah! Now!"
Later, you were heading to the nearest game shop to buy the one who'll be your first and only amiibo. You still couldn't believe that he was dragging you to this. You looked at him raising an eyebrow "Do we really need to buy it today…?" You said not glad at all.
"But of course, my dear (Y/N). The sooner you start to train it, better. That made me think; once your amiibo is strong enough, maybe we could fight each other! Me and my legendary Captain Falcon versus you and your amiibo! Oh god, that will be EPIC!" He said as excited as a child in a candy shop. You couldn't help but roll your eyes and shook your head slightly. "Here we are!" He stood in front of the shop's doors.
He ran quickly to where the figures were displayed. There were so many different characters and they were a lot "C'mon! Choose one!" He said. However, you looked at them for seconds as you hold your chin. Marcus looked at you confused "Didn't you decided?"
"I didn't think about who I would choose until now, if I tell you the truth…"
"Well… Just choose one. Look here! There's Fox! Oh, and a Pikachu! Oh God! There's Samus!" He yelled just like a kid would do. You just looked at the multiple figures displayed, waiting for someone who could pick your interest.
Suddenly, you raised your arm to reach one… just one which seemed to make you curious. Marcus just raised an eyebrow confused "Lucina…? Why would you pick her?"
To be honest, you weren't sure either. It's like your arm moved by itself to pick her "I don't know. Maybe to try her, I've never played as or with her so I think this is the perfect time for it, right?"
"Well, yeah but… Shouldn't be better to pick Marth? She has his exact same attacks after all" He said.
"Maybe, but they say that Lucina is easier to use and to get used to the way she fights" You said "Also, I've played Fire Emblem and I kinda liked her character. Maybe this way I can grow fonder with her"
"Okay okay, you know better. Okay! So you have now your first amiibo! Train her a little and when you think you're ready, call me and we'll fight! Deal?" He said as he let out his hand for you to shake it. So you did with a grin of confidence.
"I'll be glad to accept, and I can't wait to beat you up again" You said with slight arrogance.
"We'll see who beats who…" He said sharing a little of arrogance too.
FLASHBACK END
Once again, a sigh came from you. You weren't entirely certain if this would be a good idea. Who knows what will happen with this? Maybe this won't convince you at all. Or maybe you will get bored of this easily. No matter what the case is, you just wasted your money. Either way, you couldn't go back on your decision now, so enjoy your new ally would be the least you could do. "Well… Welcome to my humble abode, oh princess Lucina from Ylisse. I hope this place may be of your pleasure" You said with a slight bow, which made you laugh a little bit. Take this weird situation with a bit of humor won't hurt, right?
It was already dark outside; not to mention that it was also raining and there was a thunder every now and then. You still had a little time to spare before going to sleep, and since you hadn't got anything else to do…
"Okay, let's try what you're capable of, shall we?" You said as you grabbed Lucina's figure and turned on the game console and the TV. Once the game started, you first equipped her with some accessories to improve her characteristics and make her stronger and unique from the default Lucina.
Then, the battle began. You choose to fight as a Mii fighter versus your Lucina amiibo. You decided to stay there and wait for her to attack you and see what she could do. However, she didn't move a muscle.
"C'mon, show me ya moves!" You said in a funny way that resembles the famous catchphrase of a certain fighter of this same game. It was fruitless, the character didn't seem to attempt to attack you. (Oh man… Are you serious?) You thought disappointed (*sigh* This is just great…) Unconsciously, you ran at her and started to punch her. She flew away from the screen easily, which made you sigh a little with disappointment. You looked briefly at the screen "Oh, she reached level 4… Cool" You said with no enthusiasm.
However, once she reappeared on the field, she started to walk and jump at you. She also attempted to attack you, but her attacks were slow and foreseeable; it wasn't hard for you to beat her again. Although you started to comprehend how the amiibo worked. "Interesting… Now Lucina… let's dance!" You said excited.
You ran again at her as you made a quick jump to avoid the slash she just made. Then, you kicked her from the back, which made her to fly up again from the screen. She reached now the level 6, and the next time she appeared on the field, she was slightly tougher to beat. You were like this for the next minutes; and as you expected, she was becoming harder and harder to beat each time she reappeared on the field.
Suddenly, you didn't realize but you started to enjoy the idea of the amiibo itself. It's just like Marcus said; this was like training a pokemon, but… this time seemed somewhat special. Lucina wasn't simply becoming stronger, she was learning from your way of fighting. That made you goose bumps; the thought that she could be a really powerful fighter thanks to you…
Suddenly, all the lights and the TV turned off. You startled and jumped from the sofa; you were so focused on the game that it took you by surprise. In short, it looks like there's a blackout in your building.
"Oh, C'mon…" You groaned. The blackout itself wasn't so bad; the lights weren't working, but that should be solved by tomorrow. The thing is that you weren't able to save your amiibo progress, so Lucina didn't really level up at all. "Well… I'll start again tomorrow from the very beginning. It doesn't matter…" You said as you rested your head on the back of the sofa and close your eyes for a couple of seconds. Then, you looked at your phone to check out what hour it was.
"I think it's already time to go to sleep" You said once you looked at your phone. You were about to pick up the figure to put her away until you noticed something weird. You picked her and looked at her with a frown. "Is it… shinier?" You couldn't say it for sure, but you could bet that the figure was glowing slightly… You just blamed your tired eyes for that and left her on your desk as you lied on your bed to sleep.
However, the figure was indeed glowing extremely slightly.
LUCINA: POV
(Darkness. That was the only thing I could feel, if I can say that I was feeling something at all. I couldn't hear nor see nor touch anything… It was like if I were dead… When did I end here? I remember battling some foes not so long ago… but then… all went black… Wait… I see something! There's a light over there!)
Shortly, the young woman opened her eyes. She found herself on a floating island bathed with the nice and warm sunlight. She stood up a little shocked; she remembered this place perfectly, but it was so surprising for her to be there once again. She waved her long navy blue hair as she took her Falchion. She knew perfectly why she was there again.
Suddenly, a tall man appeared in front of her. He was a little taller than her; he was wearing a pair of gloves and he seemed really strong. Lucina widened her eyes; she didn't see this foe before, but she won't let herself lose for anybody.
She unsheathed her sword and pointed it towards her rival "Father, I won't disappoint you…" She whispered for herself. And then, the battle commenced… The princess waited for her foe to make his first move… but he didn't seem to move… It was like if he was playing with her…
(What is he planning…? Is he waiting for me to attack him? Or when I let my guard down?) Lucina was confused, she didn't know how she should proceed with this rival… Suddenly, he ran quickly at her and kicked her on the belly. It was so fast that she couldn't react in time; and before she noticed, she was flaying away from the field…
She didn't like heights so she tried not to look down, but as she expected, she found herself again on the field which relieved her. She landed on her knees as she frowned at the man (Phew… He's a tough guy, uh? But I won't let him to win! I say where it ends!) She thought to herself with confidence as she stood up and ran at her and tried to hit him. However, he dodged her and kicked her again. Lucina was sent away from the field once again.
She landed for the second time on the field as she growled a little pissed off. She felt disappointed with herself to let this guy beat her so easily; but she could be really stubborn when she wants. She pointed at the man with her Falchion in a challenging way "Listen to me! I don't know who you are or what is your purpose by defeating me, but I won't give up so easily! So back off or pray to your gods for a swift end!"
But her rival didn't seem to care. He just stood there waiting for her to come at him to receive her next strike. Lucina frowned and smirked "You don't answer… So be it, don't say I didn't warn you"
The combat went on for hours. Lucina lost every round, but she could notice that his foe was becoming more and more tired as time passed. Each round she could strike and dodge him easier. Eventually, there was a round which she believed she could win. The fighter was moving with difficulty and she took advantage of the situation to ran at him and give him the final strike. "As I said before…" She jumped in the air and moved the Falchion upwards to give him the final slash "… I say where it ends!"
And suddenly… all went black again… (What…?) She thought with a slight of disappointment and fear. She was starting to get tired of this… every time she seems to win… the battle stops… (Why…? Why this always happens to me…? People really don't want to see me win…?) She felt like that since she got here… Everyone seemed to hate her just because of her extreme resembles of Marth… For that, she rarely fights with anybody and if she does, she always loses… And it doesn't matter if she is about to win, whatever is out there makes sure that she won't win…
She doesn't feel loved there… She just sits back in the corner as she sees how the other fighters rising up and wining battles. But she… she just looks like the black sheep of this place… Like if she doesn't fit there, and yet she is there…
(I guess it has to be like this… I'm destined to end like the most hated one around here…) She thought with sadness before falling again in the darkness… uncertain of when she could be able to battle again sometime…
But suddenly, she felt that nice sensation again… it was that light. But this time it seemed that the light was much brighter and warmer than ever… Like if a god was dragging her out of that hell she barely could call 'home'… But a worrying question was seizing her mind…
Where was that light taking her?
To be continue…
Okay… So here's the first chapter… I had my horrible times thinking on how should I begin this fic. Also, I want to advise you all; this fic is what I call a 'Slow Beginning'. It starts really boring or without sense (or that's what I see up there) but the upcoming chapters are quite interesting, because I already have a schedule of how this fanfic will develop so, I think it's okay! :)
However, I think I can understand if this idea isn't welcomed at all, so that's why I need your opinion. Are you willing to see more? First of all, don't worry about my continuity; I may be later on the uploads because of my real life, but I will certainly continue to write chapters. Because I'm really excited on this project and I wish it to go on! But I would be glad to know your thoughts about it.
That's all for now, hope you enjoy! Please review and see you next time!
