The moment that the sun's early rays shined down on Izuku's sleeping form, the boy immediately felt the urge to wake up from his slumber.
After letting out a huge yawn, Izuku stretched his limbs and got out of his bed. He had a very good sleep tonight, the best he had in years in fact, and it was all because of what went down the previous night.
Unable to contain his excitement, he rushed towards his mirror and smiled widely when he saw that his hair was still white and no longer green, which was all the proof he needed to be sure that he wasn't dreaming or anything.
The boy didn't stop there, turning his attention to the katana that rested beside it. He grabbed it with both hands and observed the sword closely, taking in its every detail as though he was analyzing a quirk.
"This is the Yamato, Vergil-san's weapon that he uses to fight against demons. It's also the sword that separated our world from the Underworld, which means that this thing is dangerous if it's ever put in the wrong hands…"
It seemed like an apparent side-effect of receiving the son of Sparda's power was the knowledge that Vergil possessed in his lifetime and because of that, Izuku felt that this information was something that he always knew.
A look of amazement spread over his features as the wave of information flowed through his mind, like he was watching a movie. He saw how effortlessly Vergil can slay a mob of demons without breaking a sweat. Not only that, but he was also capable of bringing down huge monsters without being phased at all!
As a dedicated All Might fanboy, he had to say that Vergil was definitely on par, if not even better, than the number one hero himself!
"Amazing… to think that Vergil-san lived during a time when there were no quirks yet… and he's this strong? If he was a hero, then he could definitely compete against All Might for the title of number one! Wait no, he'll definitely beat All Might for the number one position!"
If he felt intimidated from Vergil's presence before, now he only felt admiration and amazement for the half-demon. It felt like a distant dream, being actually related to someone like him…
After setting the katana down, he turned his attention back to his reflection in the mirror. While he could clearly feel his now-defined muscles underneath his clothes, he wanted to see what he was like underneath, so he took off his shirt and instantly marveled at what he saw.
"Wow… so this is what it's like to have demon blood in my body."
Another side-effect of Vergil passing on his powers to the boy was that he was essentially a half-demon now like him.
But how could that happen, when Izuku was born as a full-fledged human?
Due to Izuku being a descendant of a half-demon, their blood was compatible with each other. When he 'disappeared' last night, Vergil only went back to being a mere essence of demonic power since he was just a physical manifestation of his real body the whole time. When this happened, he merged himself with Izuku's blood and due to his demonic essence being more powerful than a mere human's, it easy to say which side won.
However, it's not like every drop of blood in his body was now tinged with demonic power. If it was, then he would've been a full-fledged demon as a result. Vergil had left about fifty percent of his blood alone, which was enough for Izuku to retain his humanity and only turning into a half-demon in the process.
"It sounds bizarre to think that Vergil-san could do something like this but then again, he's done things that look impossible to a normal person."
Like a nerd who was curious about everything, he flexed his newly-acquired muscles in front of the mirror and even did a few poses just for fun, while getting himself accustomed that this was going to be what he looked like from now on.
He might have to buy larger clothes too if he wanted to hide this look from everyone else…
"I still can't believe it… this is almost some kind of dream, but it's not. I actually have Vergil-san's powers! With this, I can be a hero and save people!"
Now that he wasn't quirkless anymore, Izuku started to feel more confident in himself, not just because he finally had powers like everyone else, but also because of what he was capable of doing.
His ancestor fought against demons in his lifetime and none of them hold a candle to him. If Vergil can do something like that, then the same surely applied to him!
While he was completely distracted by the thoughts of his ancestor being one powerful being, Izuku's eyes then widened upon recalling something very important that Vergil had told him about.
"Wait… now that I know Vergil-san was telling me the truth and that demons really existed, then that means… Sparda and Mundus were real too."
On one hand, knowing that someone like Sparda truly existed was honestly mind-boggling and nothing short of amazing. To think that a demon like him was actually a hero to humans for what he had done, it further strengthened his belief that anyone can be a hero, even those people without quirks.
Vergil said it himself; quirks did not define what being a human is, and only those who are strong are capable of protecting everyone else. Izuku would never think of someone's quirk as weak, but there were truly some people who are stronger than others around them, not only because of the quirk they had.
On the other hand, this also meant that the demon emperor Mundus whom Sparda once served, also existed.
A new wave of information interrupted his thoughts, as he saw the time when Vergil fell to the Underworld and was immediately confronted by a towering figure with three glowing red eyes, and Izuku quickly realized that it was Mundus himself. He saw how Vergil threw away the scabbard of his katana and charged fearlessly towards danger…
"No…"
Too terrified to see what was about to happen to the man in blue, Izuku cut himself off from his thoughts and brought himself back to reality, feeling shaken upon seeing Mundus for himself, even if it was just a fragment of Vergil's memory.
If the demon emperor was that scary in a memory and without seeing his body, who knows what he actually looked like up close?
To think that something like him exists… his name was enough to send a chill down his spine and just the sight of his three glowing eyes frightened him so much. If he was a villain today, it would likely take the full strength of all heroes out there to bring Mundus down.
Also, there's no doubt that someday, he will have to face Mundus himself because Vergil told him to and—
Woah, Izuku! Don't get ahead of yourself there!
He quickly shook his head to remove those thoughts from his mind, quickly telling himself that now is not the time to panic because nothing bad has happened yet.
"I-I don't have to think about that right now… Vergil-san only told me that i-if it ever happens, I'll have to stop Mundus no matter what, but nothing's happened yet. I'll just keep it in the back of mind for now, because I have to focus. Vergil-san asked me last night if I wanted power, and that's what he gave me. He even told me that I can be a hero with this, so I won't let this go to waste!"
Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, he put on his shirt once again and walked out of his room, where he saw his mother preparing breakfast for the two of them.
Oh, yeah.
His mother.
Out of instinct, Izuku's hand flew up to his scalp and grabbed a fistful of his hair, now realizing that his mom would notice the obvious change in his hair color the moment he shows himself. There's no way he can possibly hide it from her since he didn't have a wig and he'll have to show his face to her eventually.
He needed to figure out an excuse that he can tell his mother for now, because he didn't think it would be a good idea to tell her that her son now had devil powers as well as a huge katana that can kill anyone who's not careful with it.
Of course, he'll tell her about him being a descendant of a half-demon who lived thousands of years ago someday, but now wasn't the right time. Izuku didn't even know what he was capable of doing yet, and he only turned into a half-demon himself hours ago.
He also needed to be careful not to let anything crucial slip past his mouth.
Taking a deep breath, he first went to the bathroom to wash his face before heading to the table, where his mother quickly noticed his incoming presence.
"Good morning, dear. Did you have a good—" The woman turned around and faced her son with a smile, only to blink in surprise when she noticed something very different about him. "Izuku, why is your hair white?"
He straightened his posture and smiled nervously, unsure whether the excuse he thought of just now would be enough to convince her, but it was the only thing he could think of without mentioning demons and a man with a katana.
"O-Oh, I just thought of making my hair this way from now on, because… well… I'm going to apply for U.A. in ten months, and I want to make sure that I'll do my best when I take the entrance exam," he spoke as he took his seat, doing his best not to sound like an idiot.
Inko blinked.
"Did you really need to dye your hair for that?" she asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"W-Well, uh…" Izuku trailed off, unable to give a response to that. He quickly scrambled through his mind for something that he can tell her without looking suspicious, but he was coming up empty with possible answers!
Thinking that her son was scared that he did something wrong, Inko shook her head and offered him a comforting smile before taking her seat as well.
"Izuku, I'm not going to be mad at you for changing how you look. I honestly think white hair doesn't look that bad on you," she explained before throwing him a worried expression. "But I don't think it's a good idea for you to follow what your classmates tell you. I know how they treat you, and I am sure that their intentions didn't involve making you look good."
Izuku's eyes widened as he quickly waved his hands in front of him in panic. He certainly wasn't trying to imply that, because his classmates had nothing to do with this and he didn't want to involve other people here.
"M-Mom, my classmates didn't tell me to do this! I-I-I c-chose to change my hair color because I wanted to," he quickly explained, earning a look of surprise from his mother.
"You did? Why?"
He nodded, internally relieved that he was able to convince his mother easily. Knowing her, she would normally hound him for answers until she was absolutely sure that her son was completely fine.
"Y-Yeah. I guess… I wanted to show that I'm going to stop being the same weak nerd that I've always been. The entrance exam for U.A. is taking place soon, and I don't want to go there looking like a wimp," he explained, looking disappointed in his own self for what he was back then.
Kacchan may call him with harsh names and various insults most of the time, but one thing that Izuku couldn't deny about those was the fact that he was useless.
Well, at least his old self was. Sure, he may have held hope that he could still be a hero despite being quirkless but what exactly did he do to get one step closer to that dream?
All he did was give himself false hope because he knew, deep down, he could never be a hero.
He didn't think this way before but now that he was given demon powers by his ancestor and after what All Might told him yesterday, Izuku only felt disappointed because Katsuki was right. If he wanted to be a hero, maybe he could have trained hard in order to be strong or perhaps even enrolled in martial arts classes to learn how to fight, but none of those things happened.
His past self was useless because he didn't do anything to change that.
But he wasn't going to let that continue any longer.
Meanwhile, Inko gasped at hearing her son say harsh things about himself and quickly said something to make him stop.
"Oh, but Izuku… there's no need to say those things about yourself. You're already great as you are!"
"I know you think that way, Mom… and I appreciate it. But I can't deny that compared to everyone else, especially Kacchan, I can't hold a candle to them," he then gave his mother a reassuring smile. "Before you even think of it, I don't blame you for me being quirkless, Mom. It just means that I have a lot to do if I want to catch up to them."
"What are you trying to say, Izuku?"
"Starting today, I'm going to make sure that I'll be prepared for the entrance exam in ten months. I'm going to push myself as much as I can so that I'll be ready for whatever the exam is going to be about," Izuku explained as a look of determination spread across his face, before it turned into a nervous smile. "It's just… I chose to make my hair white to show it to everyone else. It may sound stupid, but I just felt like it…"
The worried expression on Inko's face continued to linger for a bit more, as if she was having doubts about what her son said. Eventually however, a smile formed on her face before she gave him a proud look.
"I suppose there's nothing wrong with that, and I think that's very humble of you, sweetie. I'm very proud of you," she smiled.
Relief washed through the boy's entire being, as he gave his mother a smile of his own.
"Thanks, Mom, but… you don't think it's stupid?"
"Why would I think that way, sweetie? If anything, I feel disappointed that I didn't think of this long ago. You just want to reach dream of being a hero, and you're taking steps to get there. What kind of mother would I be if I didn't support you?"
Izuku's smile widened even more.
"Mom, you're the best."
With that issue out of the way, both mother and son began to eat their breakfast and everything was quiet between them for the moment.
Feeling that he could breathe a lot normally now, Izuku was relieved that he didn't have much difficulty convincing his mother regarding his white hair but while that happened, he was unaware of Inko noticing a certain detail about her son that could be easily missed if they didn't know anything about him.
"Hang on… why do you look somehow bigger, Izuku? Have you been working out lately?" she asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
Izuku's eyes snapped wide open as he stopped eating, having caught off guard by those last words that came from Inko's mouth. He also had the sudden urge to slam his palm into his face simply out of frustration that he didn't see this coming sooner.
Well shit.
He needed to answer this, quick! His mother may catch onto him if he doesn't come up with something!
"W-W-Well, if I'm going to be prepared for the U.A. Entrance Exam, I should start training now, right? I-I feel a lot stronger than before, honestly!" he quickly answered, flashing a smile that was filled with nervousness due to how several beads of sweat could be seen trailing down his face.
Oh, things weren't shaping up to be in his favor right now…
Even though his nervous smile seemed like a dead giveaway, the only reaction he received from his mother was a teary-eyed look that Izuku had already seen many times.
Never mind, then.
"Oh, my baby boy! You're growing up so fast! I'm so proud of you!"
And… that was the sound of his mom crying. She didn't look suspicious of him anymore, so he was safe. Oh, and this was a totally normal scenario that occurs in this house, so there was nothing to worry about.
Izuku rubbed the back of his head, relief washing through him once again. "Y-Yeah, and about that… uhm, can I go outside today? I want to get started as soon as possible and finding a good place where I can go… maybe a gym?"
Inko sniffled through her tears, before she wiped them away with a smile. "I understand, baby. Just know that I'm always here for you, okay? Oh, and don't forget to be back by lunch."
"I know, Mom."
While he bore a smile on the inside, he felt uncomfortable within because of what he was doing.
He hated lying, especially towards his mother who has done nothing but support him every step of the way. However, he couldn't tell her that her son was now a half-demon, half-human hybrid without expecting her to overreact in some way. If he did, fainting would be the very least of his problems.
In truth, he should figure out this whole thing first before even thinking about telling his mother. Until he finally gets a grasp on his new abilities as well as his new body, he'll have to stay quiet.
For that to happen, he needed to train.
Holding Yamato tight in his grasp, Izuku walked through the baywalk while constantly turning his head in different directions, as if he was searching for something important. At the same time, he was making sure that nobody else could see the katana that he was holding, because he was sure that people won't take lightly to seeing someone like him hold a dangerous weapon in his hand.
Currently, he wearing a tight black shirt, blue track pants, and running shoes, which was a suitable attire for a workout and the boy looked eager for one.
Hey, his muscles may have buffed up thanks to his newly-acquired abilities, but that didn't mean he was going to laze around and do nothing.
The U.A. Entrance Exam was going to take place in ten months and within that time, he's going to train in order to learn more and even improve his new powers. He didn't want to spend ten months doing nothing just because he was granted these abilities along with the knowledge regarding them.
"I don't think I deserve having these powers when I haven't even done anything to show that I am. I mean, what were the chances that I was actually a descendant of a half-demon? If anything, I'm lucky that I got to meet Vergil-san and it's a miracle that he chose to pass on his powers to me…"
It was like a dream that came true for Izuku but at the same time, it felt like he was about to wake up at any second and realize that he hasn't changed at all.
A half-demon passing on his power to his descendant by simply messing with his blood… it sounded ridiculous just by thinking about it. But then again, a lot of crazy things happen everyday around here because they were in the age where the impossible can be possible in a moment's glance.
Nonetheless, it did happen and he needs to get used to it right away.
"…but I don't want that. I'm going to prove that I deserve this, no matter what. I can't be a hero if I don't give it my all."
Feeling more reassured about himself, Izuku turned his attention back to his surroundings. It had been an hour ever since he left home to look for a place where he could train and see the extent of his new abilities, but he was unsuccessful so far.
"Now where can I do this without attracting attention?" he asked himself, taking a moment to actually think of a place that's fitting for him, rather than look around and hope that he finds something.
A gym was obviously out of the question. He only said that to his mother as an excuse, but there's no way he can walk into one and expect the people there to be calm the second they see the Yamato. The worst thing that could happen was someone taking the sword away from him, and he didn't want that to happen.
No, he needed somewhere secluded where nobody will come for him because he looked suspicious or something. A place where he can't be easily noticed by other people because from what he's seen from Vergil in his memories, he could easily attract a crowd and especially the police, if he starts showing off.
As Izuku continued to tread through the baywalk, there was something big in the distance that caught his attention not because of its size, but rather what it is.
"Is that… garbage?" he asked himself as he took a closer look.
At the beach that was located right next to the baywalk, there were huge piles of trash around the area that they could almost be mistakened as skyscrapers from afar. In hindsight, it couldn't even be considered as a beach but rather, a dumpsite.
"Dagobah Municipal Beach… huh. This place wasn't like this years ago… I still remember going on walks around this area with Mom when everything was still so beautiful back then."
Deciding to check the place out since why the hell not, he walked down the stairway heading to the beach and immediately frowned as he walked past the near-endless amount of garbage around him.
He had heard over the news several years ago that people had started throwing their garbage here despite the law prohibiting them from doing so, but he never thought that it would evolve to this. This was completely different to the last time he saw the beach, when only a few piles of garbage could be seen in one corner which were regularly removed by streetsweepers at a daily basis.
But now, the beach was almost unrecognizable.
Seriously, why did this have to happen to the place?
It was once a beautiful spot to cool off, hang out with friends, take a swim, or express your feelings for another person but now, the place was a complete mess.
Because of the strong ocean currents, anything that was dropped in the water ended up on the beach. The people around here took advantage of that whenever they wanted to dump their garbage somewhere and now, the locals avoid the place completely.
Making sure that he was being careful with every step he took, he noticed that this beach was treated like a real dumpster due to the different kinds of junk that were around him.
Various appliances, furniture, decorations, rotten food, and many more were found almost everywhere. However, there was one particular object that caught his eye quite easily due to how it stood out among everything else.
"You've gotta be joking…"
His eyes fell towards an old, worn-down truck, before he noticed something more bizarre than that. There were several used cars around the place other than the truck, which surprisingly caused Izuku to feel annoyed.
Just because this place turned into the local dumpster, some people thought it was a good idea to make the problem worse by dumping old vehicles here?
"I can't believe it's turned into a dump now. What did it even do to deserve this? People loved going here, including me, and now they can't because of these piles of garbage everywhere," he sighed deeply, wishing that there was something he could do about this.
Izuku let out a deep sigh and donned a sad look; he may have only been here a few times, but it was still a beautiful place nonetheless and it boggled him how others couldn't understand that. And now, nobody would ever get to enjoy Dagobah Beach again.
"I should just leave. There's nothing for me to do here, even if I wanted to do something about—" he said sadly, only to cut himself off from speaking.
Just when he was about to turn around and leave, something then clicked inside his mind, as he looked down at the katana in his hand and thought deeply about something.
"Hang on a minute…"
He wanted to do something about all this trash, right?
Well, everything that he needed to do so was already in his hands.
His eyes growing wide in realization, he looked at the piles of waste around him before turning his attention back to his sword.
A smile made its way to his face which slowly turned into a big grin, as he walked towards one of the cars and climbed on top of it, surveying the area before him with a grin.
"Time to take out the trash," Izuku spoke, before he flicked out Yamato from its scabbard with his thumb, feeling eager to see the power of a devil with his own eyes.
The boy lowered his stance and rested his right hand on the base of his katana, just like how he saw Vergil doing it in his memories. He then focused his attention at a random pile of garbage in the distance, before taking a deep breath.
In one swift motion, Izuku drew his sword and sliced through the air in a big slash, before he carefully return it to its scabbard, sheathing it completely with a click.
As soon as he heard that click, Izuku's eyes widened as he watched the tower of junk fall apart thanks to a clean slice that cut through its base, which was undoubtedly caused by him just moments ago.
"Woah… the Yamato really does cut through anything!"
He quickly looked down at his sword, thoroughly amazed at what it was capable of doing before telling himself that he was going to have to get used to this if he was going to train. He needed to stay focused and not get distracted by unnecessary things like this.
Sure, he can be amazed by this power he possessed, but he didn't have to go on full analysis mode on this like what he does for others and their quirks. This was his power from now on, and he already saw what this katana was capable of when he saw Vergil's memories.
Instead, Izuku turned his head to the beach itself before checking to see if he can be seen here from the baywalk. He could see some people walking there, but the same couldn't be said for them with regards to him.
"Looks like I've found myself a training area that I can use without attracting too much attention," he remarked, before shifting his gaze to another random pile of trash, lowering his stance once again.
He may not be a hero yet, but that doesn't mean he can't perform community service for the good of everyone!
The sun was still high up in the sky, its rays being covered by various clouds that lessened the heat down below. This also meant that for the beach that was once known as a local dump to the people in the area, it was the perfect day for people to visit and take in the wonders of the place provided for everyone.
"Nothing like relaxing out here all on my own after a tiring day," a young and attractive girl with long dark green hair and eyes said as she took in a deep breath of the fresh air around, feeling a sense of nostalgia as she observed the beach closely.
Setsuna Tokage smiled as she looked out into the horizon, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere that the place provided for her. She stood at the top of the staircase leading down to the beach, burying her hands into the pockets of her green dinosaur hoodie.
This was definitely what she needed after three days of training her quirk to be stronger and better than before.
She had spent the entirety of her morning just casually strolling around without a care in the world beause it was finally a day of rest for her, and she was going to enjoy it to the fullest. Another week had passed, yet it felt like a month to her. She was going to have to thirty-nine more weeks before the fated day, and who knows what was waiting for her within that period of time…
However, Setsuna Tokage wasn't one to back down, especially when it involved her dream.
The young green-haired girl was a part of the special recommendations for U.A. High, meaning that she was one of those aspiring heroes who were exceptionally brilliant students that someone of high status personally recommended them for the school. In her case, the one who recommended her was her aunt in all but blood, the R-Rated Hero, Midnight.
In ten months, she was going to attend a special exam for those who were part of the recommendations, both written and practical. While Setsuna confident in her academic abilities since she was always at the top of her class, there's no telling what the practical portion would be like.
Therefore, she needed to keep on improving her quirk, which was named Lizard Tail Splitter, so she could be prepared for the upcoming exam. While her quirk was versatile and she was confident in her skill in using it, she knew that it wouldn't hurt to continue improving and it wouldn't do any good to think that she was fine as is.
On the other hand, while she had no problem spending a day or two to keep her skills and smarts top-notch, she could definitely use a rest once in a while to avoid overworking herself. For that, she usually trained three or four times a week while she would have the remaining days to herself.
And this is why she was here at Dagobah Beach today, having heard of the news that the place was back to what it once was, a beautiful spot where anyone can enjoy themselves in many ways.
She used to go to this beach back then because it was public and anyone could go here at any time, which was definitely a win in her book. Unfortunately, that was only until the place was filled with trash and became almost unrecognizable. Everyone stayed away from the beach at that point, with seemingly no hope that it would be back to what it was before.
That was until one month ago, when all the trash from the beach mysteriously disappeared. Nothing was left there but the pure white sand and the cool water brought by the ocean currents, almost as if it was never a dump in the first place.
Nonetheless, now that it was miraculously restored to the beautiful beach that it once was, people could start visiting it again anytime they wanted.
"Last time I was here, I had to cover my nose 'cuz rotten food was all over the place," she said in amusement.
Still, Setsuna wondered who was behind the beach's restoration, because ever since the massive amount of trash disappeared completely a month ago, no hero took credit for the service and the identity of the one behind it was a mystery. Even though she only found out about this yesterday, there hasn't been anyone to confess their heroic action to the public.
It honestly surprised her, because who wouldn't take credit for doing such a noble service to society? Cleaning a beach of its garbage all on your own is something that can add to one's accolades and give a person free publicity, especially if it was a hero but there was no one who came forward and confessed. Of course, there were the ones who arrogantly spoke about fixing Dagobah Beach, but there's no need to mention them since no one believed them.
Eh, perhaps the person or hero who did it probably didn't want the attention, so he kept himself from saying anything. Even so, she'd thank that person if she had the chance, because this place was special not only to her, but to a lot of people as well.
"Damn it, if only I didn't forget my swimsuit back home, I can take a quick dip in the water! But then again, it's not like I believed the news right away when I heard it," she clicked her tongue in annoyance at herself for this mistake.
Oh yeah, the moment she learned of the news about the beach being restored yesterday, Setsuna immediately wanted to go here as soon as possible to see if it was true. She ended up rushing out of the house earlier this morning, forgetting to bring a swimsuit with her in the process.
Setsuna eventually shrugged in defeat, simply because there's no use in being angry with herself for forgetting to bring along something important.
"Whatever, just standing here and seeing the beach again is good enough. I can just come back here another day and then I'll be able to—"
"Hey, look at this fine babe here, boys!"
Setsuna's ears quickly picked up a foreign voice nearby and caused her to turn around and see what it was.
There were three large guys facing in her direction and even though she was about two meters away from them, she could clearly smell the scent of alcohol from them. However, they didn't appear to be drunk at all. The three men all wore black leather jackets, a shirt with a bloody skull on it, and dark jeans.
"Who the hell are these guys?" Setsuna asked herself, although she already had a feeling that she won't like the answer to that question.
"Would you look at that, we found ourselves a good one~!" One of them said as he grinned in a malicious manner. He had short black hair, large eyes, and piercings on his ears and lips.
Way to ruin her day, huh?
"Really? Right now? Ugh, it just had to be me…" she groaned internally, already having a feeling of what these guys were up to.
"Yeah, you're right, Jake! She's got a nice ass and even are assets developed! Ah, this one's gonna grow up to be a really beautiful chick someday~" The second guy spoke, bearing a lovesick expression on his face. He had a yellow mohawk, a pair of earrings, and exceptionally long fingernails.
"No doubt about it, Kento! She's cute too… oh, I can't wait to get my hands on that pretty face and sexy body~ Let's take her to the house already!" The last of them said in glee. He had short blonde hair and tired-looking eyes. What was bizarre about him was that he looked like a teenager who was the same age as Setsuna.
Setsuna did her best to keep a straight face, but she was obviously tempted to leave right away so that she wouldn't have to look at them any longer. The girl didn't want to give them the satisfaction of seeing her break in front of them, and there's no way that was going to happen.
She was normally carefree and upbeat to others, but she also despised these kinds of people. This was one of the reasons why she was aspiring to be a hero in the first place.
Unfortunately, she knew that running away would only cause a wild goose chase between them and Setsuna didn't feel like running away from a bunch of guys.
The safest thing she could do without instigating conflict would be to let these three clowns say what they want to say, and hope that there would be someone nearby that can hear them and contact the law afterwards.
"Settle down, Bob! You too, Kento. I saw her before any of you, so I get to play with her first! You'll get your turn once I'm done with her. And I'm gonna give this young lady the best night of her life~" Jake told both of his companions with a serious tone, while throwing them a look that clearly said 'don't cross me'.
"You always say that…"
"Oh, come on! Let us have something, Jake!"
Ignoring the two guys with him, Jake stepped forward and slowly advanced towards the green-haired girl with a lecherous grin on his face.
"Come on with us, young lady. We can have some fun, you know? I can rock your world in more ways than one~"
"Woah, you better stop right there, dude. Keep your distance away from me, or I'm gonna kick you where the sun shines the most," warned Setsuna, holding up a hand to stop him in his tracks.
The older man only smirked in amusement.
"Is that right? Well, there's three of us and only one of you, princess. You're not really in a place to refuse. You can't use your quirk either because you're not allowed to do that in public. So what's it gonna be? We can either do this the easy way or the hard way, it's up to you."
Setsuna resisted the urge to grit her teeth in frustration, not wanting to let any of them see a sign of weakness in her. The only thing she could do was stay calm and figure out what she should say next.
She wasn't an idiot. She knew that she wasn't supposed to use her quirk in public and she wasn't going break that law. The same can't be said for these three thugs however, because they would use their quirks without hesitation if it meant getting what they wanted. Fighting back against them without her quirk would be stupid, because she was clearly outnumbered and she didn't know what they were capable of.
If she could only use her quirk, she can easily split herself up and float away but alas, she couldn't do something that would go against the law.
The girl was sincerely hoping that someone else was seeing these three guys right now, because she didn't know how long she can keep them at bay without letting them get to her. Someone just needs to make one call to the police, and these three will finally be dealt with!
"Call me princess again and I'm gonna stick my foot up your ass. The same goes for those two idiots with you," she said defiantly, refusing to let them see her in a vulnerable state. "You wanna know my answer? People without quirks have more of a chance to get a woman than any of you three, no thanks to your horrible flirting skills and the tiny rod hanging between your legs. No wonder you guys need someone like me to give you attention. It's obviously because you can't handle being embarrassed by older women, right?"
The three men were taken aback by her words and simply stood still for a few moments, as if Setsuna's words struck a nerve in them. None of them expected an answer like that from the girl and if other people were watching them right now, the three guys would be a laughing stock from that sick burn!
"Let me at her! I'm gonna shut that big mouth of hers up!" Bob said furiously, as his appearance changed in almost an instant. No longer was his appearance like that of a teenager; his face became chubbier, his stomach, arms, and legs became bloated and he looked as old as his companions.
"So that's his quirk, but what about the other two?" Setsuna thought, before turning her attention towards the two thugs with him.
Bob tried to make a run for the girl, only to be stopped by Jake's arm, as the latter's smug expression turned into a look of fury.
"Okay, that's it, you bitch. I tried asking nicely, but now you've crossed the line! You're coming with us whether you like it or not!" Jake roared, lunging towards the girl with both hands, but Setsuna managed to dodge his attempt. As a result, he almost fell down the stairs if it weren't for his companions pulling him back.
"Big words from a man who needs someone else to get himself off! Why don't you try doing it with one of your lackeys instead?" she laughed and sent them a wink, before she began to run away.
"Get her!" Jake barked at his men, who were quick to follow his order and chased after the girl.
Setsuna ran through the baywalk while occasionally taking glances behind her to make sure that they're not catching up. She wanted to head somewhere where there's many people, so they would see the men chasing after her and do something about it.
"Okay, my plan to wait for someone to catch them in the act obviously didn't work! Now I'm being chased by those idiots which I didn't want to happen!" Setsuna groaned in her thoughts, before she shook her head and sighed. "It doesn't matter anymore. More importantly, I have to get away from those three clowns as soon as possible."
As a student who was physically fit and active, Setsuna easily outran the three men and made a sharp turn towards the nearest alley, believing she was far enough from the three that they won't see her come here. She didn't stop there and continued to run until she reached the end, where large recycling bins filled the area behind the buildings there.
But before she could even take a quick breather, Setsuna heard a loud voice from the main street that she quickly recognized.
"She went through that alley! Hurry up before we lose her!"
Her eyes widened in panic, before she turned her attention to one of the recycling bins there.
"Gotta hide, quick!" she exclaimed in her thoughts, diving behind it before the three men see her.
As soon as the three thugs reached the end of the alleyway, there was seemingly no sign of the girl anywhere.
"She's not around here, Jake. You think she's somewhere else by now?"
"Is that so?" Jake smirked as he activated his quirk. His eyes had turned green while his pupils became red, mimicking the look of a radar. After only a few seconds of using his power, he turned towards the farthest recycling bin with a grin. "Gotcha now, princess!"
Setsuna's eyes widened. "He doesn't know I'm here, does he?"
"She's hiding behind that dumpster! Don't let her get away!" Jake pointed towards the farthest recycling bin, as his two lackeys quickly made a run for it to catch the girl off guard.
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Setsuna ran off before they could even reach her position. She took the nearest turn and made another one in an attempt to confuse the men chasing her, before she began running as fast as she could.
"Damn it! They're not gonna leave me alone! How did he know where I was hiding, anyway?! Was it his quirk?" she shouted in her thoughts, taking another turn for good measure.
Setsuna continued to run with no signs of stopping anytime soon, at least until she reached an alley with no other pathways around except for the one that she used to get in.
"Shit! A dead end," she cursed as the first sign of desperation could be seen in her eyes. She knew that the three men would be here at any moment, and the only chance of her being able to get away from them would be to use her quirk. "I have no choice! I have to split up here and fly away!"
But before she could activate her quirk, the girl heard a deep and smug voice from behind her, one that made it clear she was screwed.
"Well, lookie here. The little missy's all on her own, with nowhere to go. What happened to those big words you were saying earlier? Too scared to say anything now?"
Setsuna slowly turned around to see the three thugs cornering her on all sides. She could slip past them by splitting herself up, but it would only instigate another chase between them and if they were able to find her once, they might be able to do it again.
Still, Setsuna refused to go down here without a fight and adopted a loose fighting stance, one that made her growing nervousness more obvious.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. There's three of us and only one of you, so you're clearly outnumbered here. Why don't you just accept that there's no hope for you, princess?" Jake laughed, enjoying this moment for what it was.
"C-Come on, let's take her back to the house…" Kento suggested, taking a moment to catch his breath after all the running that they did.
"Nah, I say we do her right here. Let's teach her a lesson about messing with us and what happens to those people who do," said Bob, returning to his teen appearance as he flashed a lecherous smile.
"You know what, Bob? I like the sound of that. Now let's not waste any more time, shall we?"
Setsuna had no idea how she was going to get out of this situation, or if she can even do such a thing. Was this going to be her fate? Falling victim to a bunch of guys in an alley while all alone and with no one to help her?
The girl who was always smiling and laughing felt completely helpless right now, as she had no way out of this problem. She was about to ganged up on by three men with no one around to help, yet she still refused to let these scumbags see her vulnerable.
Just when they were only a meter away from the girl, a cold voice stopped them in their tracks, so much that hearing it sent a chill down their spines.
"Preying on girls who are younger than you? The nerve of people like you nowadays…"
The three misfits immediately turned their heads to the mysterious individual who spoke those words. At the end of the alley that they were in stood a young boy who was the same age as Setsuna, wearing a green hoodie and red pants. He had white hair, green eyes, and it looked like he was holding some kind of stick or rod in his left hand.
"I'm going to make it easy for the three of you. Leave her alone and walk away right now, and I'll let you go. You don't want to know what happens if you don't," Izuku Midoriya warned as he began to walk towards them.
"Who… is that?" Setsuna said in her thoughts, while feeling relieved that someone saved her from a terrible fate. That didn't last though, as relief turned into confusion.
Was that guy out of his mind? What the hell was he doing here, trying to face off with these three clowns all by himself? Shouldn't he just let the police deal with them? He's going to get himself killed at this point!
Setsuna was tempted to make a run for it and escape with the boy who saved her life, but she couldn't do anything with one of these men keeping a sharp eye on her… she'll just have to wait for the right opportunity and take off as fast as she could!
Realizing that it was nothing more than a kid who was trying to get in their way, Jake laughed and sent him a threatening look in order to scare him away.
"Ha! Who are you to tell us what to do, kid? Go back home to your mother and mind your own damn business! This isn't the place for people like you, so get moving if you know what's good for you."
However, Izuku didn't budge and he continued to send all three of them a serious expression, almost to the point that his gaze alone can cut through glass.
Even Setsuna, although she wasn't the target of Izuku's words, felt that there was something about him that screamed dangerous on all levels that she temporarily forgot about escaping…
"In case you didn't hear me, I'll say it again. Leave now and I'll let you go. You heard what she said, she's not interested in any of you at all. You have no business with her anymore. Now, are you going to walk away or stay here and fight? I won't tell you a third time," he repeated, raising the object in his left hand which looked like a katana.
If the three thugs felt intimidated from those words, then they certainly didn't show it.
"Did you hear that, Bob?! The kid said he wanted to fight! Who does he think he is, acting like he can take on all three of us?!" Kento wheezed, hiding the fact that he flinched at the sight of the kid before them holding a sword.
"Yeah, I heard him!" Bob said smugly, cracking his knuckles before smirking at the white-haired boy. "We told you to mind your own business kid, but it looks like we're gonna have to knock some sense into you!"
"I pity my old self for not standing up against my classmates who were like this," Izuku sighed and shook his head in disappointment.
"You two, keep an eye on the girl. I'll handle this," Jake told his lackeys with a serious look, which cut off Setsuna's chances of escaping. "Well, well, what do we have here? Somebody trying to play hero, huh? Well, let me make one thing clear to you, kid! In order to use your quirk in public, you need to have pro license but I don't see you having it. So, are you still going to keep pretending you're a hero when you can't even use your quirk?"
Jake walked towards the boy arrogantly and looked down on him with a smug grin. There's no possible way that this boy was serious, and he was only putting up a strong facade because it was 'the right thing to do'. He's just like any other kid out there who dreams of becoming a hero like All Might and other pros.
That katana he was holding? It was obviously a toy that he's using to play hero. He could break it in two if he wanted, but he'll let the kid keep his pathetic toy after he sends him home in tears.
But what he heard next was something that he didn't expect.
"I don't need a quirk to teach you a lesson," Izuku said coldly.
"Huh?"
In a blink of an eye, Izuku disappeared out of sight before reappearing behind Jake, sweeping the older man off his feet and causing him to fall to the ground. This caused his two associates to turn towards them, and they were both taken aback from how fast the boy moved.
"Argh!" The older man groaned, before looking up at the green-clad boy who towered over him with a cold look on his face. "How the hell did you move so fast?! Is that your quirk?!"
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
That was all Izuku said before slammed the tip of his scabbard into the man's gut, knocking him out almost instantly.
The two remaining thugs were so taken aback at a kid like Izuku was able to knock out their leader that their mouths hung open and remained speechless for the next few moments. It was only until Izuku shifted his attention towards them that they snapped out of their trance, as they felt anger quickly building up inside them.
"That's it! I'm gonna kill you!" snarled Bob, who buffed up before launching himself towards the boy, intending to crush him under his massive weight.
Izuku merely looked up with a bored expression on his face, before he disappeared out of sight once again. Bob looked surprised at this and turned his head in multiple directions to look for the boy, only to hear something appear out of mid-air from above him.
He turned his head slightly, only for his eyes to widen when he saw Izuku above him with his foot raised high.
"Shit—!"
Any further words that were about to come out of his mouth were rendered invalid as the half-demon slammed his foot into the thug's head, before they crashed down into the concrete. Due to his larger body mass, Bob ended up making a small crater upon impact before he reverted back to his original form.
"What kind of quirk is that?" Setsuna thought to herself in shock as she watched this boy deal with two of the three misfits effortlessly. "Is he teleporting?"
The boy removed his foot from Bob's unconscious form and walked away from him before setting his sight on the last thug, sending him a cold glare which snapped Kento out of his state of shock.
"You're gonna pay for that, kid!"
Kento gritted his teeth and aimed his fingers towards the boy, before he began shooting his sharp fingernails towards him like a machine gun.
However, what followed next was something that would haunt him for a long time.
Izuku remained calm even at the sight of the fast-approaching projectiles and simply lowered his stance, his hand resting on Yamato's handle.
Before the first one could reach him, the boy quickly drew his blade and cut through it with so much precision that the two pieces flew past him like they were nothing. Izuku did the same for the next one, then the one after that, the one after that, and so on.
The way his arms moved so fast along with his sharp vision to see where the nails were caused Setsuna to widen her eyes even more, feeling both amazed and confused as to how Izuku was doing this.
"How the hell is he doing this? Can he somehow sense them coming? Even his arm's moving so damn quick!"
After cutting through the last fingernail, Izuku turned his attention to the last thug with an icy glare on his face, causing Kento to take a few steps back out of instinct.
"N-No way…" Kento sputtered, unable to understand how the boy managed to slice every single one of his nails precisely and without mistake. Did the kid's quirk involve a sharper vision somehow? Or was it speed? His katana was nothing less than real, either… and it could definitely kill him if he's not careful…
The man wouldn't have the time to figure it out.
Izuku rushed towards him while brandishing his katana to the side, as if he didn't care about what was going to happen next. The thug had already seen how fast this boy could move, so running away would be a dumb option. He couldn't use his quirk either, because he needed time for his nails to build up before he can shoot them again.
In the end, he could only stand there and close his eyes, preparing himself for the inevitable.
…but he never felt anything,
Kento slowly opened his eyes to see what was happening, only to freeze as the blade of Izuku's katana was mere inches away from his throat that one small thrust can puncture through his skin and kill him. The man looked like he was about to crap himself out of fear, especially when the boy spoke in a cold tone that left no room for any argument.
"Leave."
The man nodded frantically and ran off, leaving his two companions behind and made no move to look back. He narrowly managed to escape with his life, and he wasn't going to push his luck!
After making sure that the third thug was completely out of sight, Izuku now turned to the girl whom he saved, walking closer towards her while making sure to show that he had no malicious intentions towards her.
"Are you okay?" he asked out of concern.
"Uh… yeah," Setsuna muttered, taking a moment to snap out of her trance. Okay, she had no exact idea what just happened but one thing was for sure, this guy saved her from those clowns all by himself and he didn't even look bothered by it!
By the way, where did he come from exactly? She didn't see anyone around when she ran away from the street and into the alleys behind the buildings, did she?
"How did you know that I was here? Did you see what was happening from the street?"
"I saw you running earlier through the sidewalk, then I noticed these men were after you. I had a bad feeling about them, so I decided to follow all of you here. I didn't expect they would actually corner someone like you into submission," he explained while sending the two unconscious men a look of disdain.
She groaned, disappointed that there wasn't anyone who even bothered to help her. Of course, she knew that only pro heroes and the police can deal with people like those clowns but at the very least, couldn't they have called them out or even asked for help from nearby officers?
"Well, at least someone came for me. I was starting to think that nobody gave a shit that I was being chased by three idiots," the annoyed look on her face quickly turned into a brighter expression. She didn't want to make a bad impression in front of someone else, especially towards the one who saved her. "The name's Setsuna Tokage! What about you, Snowball?"
"Snowball?" the boy thought in confusion, before he quickly realized that she was talking about his hair.
Ladies and gentlemen, Izuku Midoriya has just received his first nickname, excluding the ones that his mother uses to refer to him.
"Uh, I'm Izuku Midoriya."
She threw out her hand for a handshake, and Izuku hesitantly took it. As someone who has never had that much social interaction with others, especially girls, this was something new for him. To add to that, he's never had a nickname before and to be referred to in such a way so casually felt weird, but not unwelcome.
"Well, it's nice to meet ya, Snowball! If it wasn't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me. Guess that makes you my hero, huh?" teased Setsuna.
Izuku somehow felt uncomfortable from seeing that expression on her face, as though she had something devious in mind. This was the first time that he talked to a girl, and he had no idea what was going to come out of this conversation!
"I was just doing the right thing. I'm sure anyone else would have done the same if they saw you earlier."
She shook her head and laughed.
"Nuh-uh. I was running for my life earlier while hoping that someone would notice that I was being chased by three clowns, but nobody gave a shit!" she rolled her eyes and threw her arms in the air for emphasis, before pointing to the two unconscious stooges on the ground. "Anyway, what are we gonna do with these two?"
"Don't worry about them. I gave the police a call before I went here. They should arrive in a few minutes to take them in for attempted harrassment and illegal usage of quirks in public. They won't bother you anymore."
"But what about you? Weren't you using your quirk on them earlier?" she asked, reminding Izuku of his actions earlier.
It was one of the craziest things she's ever seen, and she was a girl who lived for thrill and adventure. The way how Izuku moved faster as if he was some kind of computer AI made her think that his quirk had something to do with his speed.
He shook his head, fully prepared for a question like this.
"I wasn't using my quirk."
Setsuna blinked in surprise upon hearing his answer, before she sent him a smug grin.
Oh, so he was playing this game against her, huh? Well, she wasn't going to back down one bit!
"Bullshit. You were moving so fast that my eyes almost couldn't keep up, especially when you were swinging that sword you have earlier like a madman! You were even teleporting around them! How do you explain that?"
"I didn't use my quirk. What you saw me do is simply a product of how fast I am."
The girl frowned. "What? Are you saying you're so fast that you can teleport when you feel like it?"
Okay… that wasn't what Izuku was trying to imply, but he obviously can't tell her anything about what he can do and who he really was.
"I… guess so?"
Setsuna started to laugh, as she started patting his shoulder in a friendly way.
"Yeah, I'm not falling for it. You were obviously using your quirk. What do you call it, anyway?"
Welp, she obviously didn't buy his excuse and thought it was ridiculous, but he was still not going to tell her anything.
"It's… complicated," he half-lied.
It wasn't a full lie, because his demonic abilities can really confuse a person if he told them all about it. He didn't get it when he was born, he didn't develop it along the way, nor was he a late bloomer. He got them after having a dream about a half-demon who lived thousands of years ago and said hybrid passed on his powers to him, because he was his descendant.
Due to how ridiculous it sounded, he needed to make his own cover-up story of how he developed it in case he ever needed to explain it to someone, which he was still working on at the moment.
And honestly, Izuku didn't even know whether to call it a quirk or not.
He hoped that Setsuna won't ask any further questions about his quirk but unfortunately for him, the girl had other plans in mind.
"Is that so? Well then," she smirked at him before grabbing his arm and then pulling him along with her. "Come on, let's head to a cafe! I'll buy us a drink and something to eat. I haven't had lunch yet, honestly, and I'd love it if you're there with me."
"Uh, t-that won't be necessary, Tokage-san. I'm not looking for any reward for what I did—"
"Oh, but I want to, Snowball. After all, you did save me from these stupid goons. We can just leave them here since you told me that the police are on already on their way. It's the least I can do for you after being my hero, Midoriya."
In a move that caused Izuku's cheeks to redden slightly, Setsuna leaned closer to his ear and started to whisper in a quiet voice, which was honestly starting to get under his skin for some reason.
Was this how all girls acted towards boys like him?
"Plus, I have loads of questions about your quirk and what I just saw you do to these clowns~"
"O-kay…" he muttered, trying his best to keep himself composed despite the closeness between them. Honestly, he can just push her away from him to end his problem but Izuku wasn't like that.
"Great! Come on then, it'll be like a date!" she grinned, leading the way out of the alley while keeping her arm linked with Izuku's, unaware of the boy's face turning red upon hearing what she said.
She didn't say 'date'... right?
Having no way out of this situation, Izuku simply let himself get dragged away by the girl. It might not be a bad idea, because she did raise a good point. He hasn't had lunch yet as well, and it would be good to fill his stomach with something before going home.
He just hoped that Setsuna won't ask him too much, because there's a clear limit to what he can tell her.
Well, that was a fun chapter to write! Izuku has began his training immediately after receiving his powers and after a brief 2-month timeskip, he's already strong enough to deal with a bunch of stooges without a sweat. He has also encountered Setsuna Tokage, who now has her sights on him and his mysterious quirk! What's gonna happen on their 'date'? Find out next time!
