Emma Swan was sat at her desk at the sheriff's station playing paper basketball and thinking of ways she could fix her mistake. She couldn't exactly send Robin's wife back through the portal, could she? She didn't even know the woman was his wife in the first place, and it wasn't like she brought her back on purpose to ruin Regina's life. She got why Regina was mad but she could have at least said "thank you for saving my soul mates wife who I was just about to kill" like seriously how did they plan to explain that to Roland when he was old enough? "This is your new mommy, she killed your old mommy thirty years ago but it's okay because she's redeemed now"the whole thing was fucked up and Emma once again wondered how the fuck this was her life.
She sat a little longer lost in thought until the phone on her desk rang loudly, and then she sighed before she picked it and put on her 'professional' voice.
'Hello, this is the Sheriff's station, Emma Swan speaking, How may I help you?'
She heard some shuffling on the other end before a breathless voice rushed out 'there's a bright orange light coming from the forest'
'Fucking fantastic' she thought as she took the callers details and wrote down most of the information she had to hand, which wasn't a lot. Just as she finished the call, she stood from her chair, grabbed her jacket and car keys before she made her way to her car and drove to the forest.
Once she made it to the outskirts of the woods she parked her car and got out. She hadn't seen any bright orange lights on her way over but she grabbed a flashlight from the trunk anyway and made her way through the trees.
Shehad walkedfor about ten minutes when she heard what sounded like hushed voices, arguing. She stopped for a moment and listened hoping she would hear something that would give her a clue about who it was, but the voices only seemed to get quieter.
She drew her gun, just in case, as she moved closer to the whispers. Once she got behind them, she stopped and studied them. She couldn't see them properly, but she could tell they weren't adults.
'What are you doing?' she said as she moved closer.
She saw them both freeze before she heard a whispered 'shit' but they didn't turn around.
She brought her flashlight up and shone it on the figures. 'Turn around slowly'
They did as she said and as soon as she saw their terror-stricken faces, she immediately lowered her gun. They were both girls around the age of thirteen to fifteen.
One of them had long dark hair, bright green eyes, and she wore a grey beanie, a blue hoodie, and grey skinny joggers with blue converse.
The other girl's hair was shorter, she had blond curly hair and big brown eyes. She was wearing a black blazer, blue skinny jeans and heels.
They were definitely sisters. apart from the eyes and hair every other detail of their faces were identical.
'Geez, is there any need to try to shoot us?' snapped the brunette. The blonde girl kept quiet but there was an amused smirk planted on her lips.
Emma looked at them for a second longer. They seemed familiar and yet she was almost certain that she had never seen them before.
'What are you doing out here? where are your parents?' she questioned.
The girls looked at each other and it seemed as though they were having a silent conversation before the brunette one spoke:
'We're lost, we're not from here,'
Okay, well how did you end up here? Did you have anything to do with the orange light?
'Yes, we actually came out of a portal,' admitted the blonde girl.
'God,Evie, why don't you just tell her exactly who we are?' said the brunette with a raised eyebrow.
The blonde girl turned to her sister with her hands on her hips and cocked her own eyebrow. 'well, it's your fault we're in this mess Rainey. You're going to bein so much trouble when they find that we're gone'
'Yeah, well it's not like that will be anything new' scowled the brunette.
Emma studied the twins again as she listened to them bicker. It was becoming clear to her that the brunette twin was the trouble maker and the blonde twin was the sensible one.
She clapped her hands loudly to get their attention. "Right, well let's go to the station and try to figure out how to get you home" she sighed. This was goingto be a long night.
Once they arrived at the station, Emma told the girls to take a seat while she went and made them a drink.
'Is hot chocolate okay?', she asked.
'Yeah, with cinnamon and cream?' Questioned Raynie.
Emma looked at her curiously. That was strange. So far, the only people she knew who liked cinnamon with their hot chocolate were her, Snow and Henry.
'Cinnamon for both of you?' She inquired.
Eviescrunched up her nose in disgust 'No, Thank you. If you have any apple syrup, I'll have that. Please'
Emma chuckled, apples were Regina's speciality, not hers. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, she didn't want to think about the Mayorright now.
'I'm sorry Idon't have any' she apologised.
Eviesmiled at her 'That's ok, just cream will be fine'
Emma smiled back, and then moved to the kitchen to make the drinks.
'We have to tell her, Raynie,' said Evie to her twin once Emma was out of earshot.
Raynie huffed and slumpedin her chair. 'she's never going to believe us. we need more information to see exactly where we are in time,'
'Right, okay. Just follow my lead,' Evie whispered just before she saw Emma re-enter the room, carrying three hot chocolates.
Emma placed the cups down on the table and took a seat opposite the twins. It was time to find out exactly what had happened and where the girls had come from.
'So, you said you came from a portal?'
'You don't seem particularly shocked to hear that. Do you deal with a lot of portals?' Probed Evie.
Emma smirked. 'In the thirty years I've been alive, I've fallen through two,' She stated.
Both the girls' eyes went wide, 'Damn, this is worse than we thought' whined Raynie.
Emma looked quizzically at the girl 'what do you mean?' She asked.
'God, Raynie! What have you done?' Gasped Evie.
Raynie stood up, completely ignoring Emma and her twin's questions and began pacing.
'Shit, shit, shit! Mom's going to murder me. There is no way I'll be allowed to go to Amber's party now.' She groaned.
'Amber's party? Is that all you care about? You've ruined everything, Ray!' Evie exclaimed.
Raynie, spun around to face her twin, 'Oh yeah, because nothing is ever your fault is it, Miss goody two shoes?' She scoffed.
Evie moved into her sister space. 'No!because unlike you I am not irresponsible. I told you this wasn't a good idea, but you never listen. You need to grow up,' she sneered.
Emma watched the children silently for a few minutes before she started getting a headache. Jesus, she felt sorry for their parents, because they definitely must have their hands full with these two. She decided that it would be best to stop the bickering before it got out of hand.
'Okay, that's enough', she shouted. 'Sit back down and tell me exactly where you came from and how you got here,' she finished sternly.
To Emma's astonishment, both girls snapped their mouths shut and rushed to sit back down. They both avoided eye contact and dropped their heads.
She waited to see if either of them would speak, but after a few minutes, she sighed, and asked them again where they had come from.
Eviesat up in her seat. Taking a deep breath, she spoke.
'We're from the future, eighteen years into the futureto be precise'
'I crashed my parent's car and I tried to go back in time to fix it, but I kind of miscalculated.' Shrugged Raynie.
Emma snorted. This was gold. Damn, these girls were goingto be in so much trouble, when they got home. Hopefully, Regina would be able to help them. Although she didn't know if that would be possible, since the only person that had ever opened a time portal was Zelena, and well, shewas lockedup.
'Right, well I think there's only one person who might be able to help you, but I'm going tell you both now, she will not be happy about this and she's goingto beeven less thrilled to see me', warned Emma.
The twins shot each other knowing smirks. They knew exactly who the sheriff was talking about and while they weren't ecstatic that they would have to face Regina, they kind of wanted to see how this would play out.
'It's okay, we'll behave' they smiled innocently, 'We promise,' they added. Emma didn't believe it for one second.
Ten minutes later, all three of them were outside Regina's door. Emma was trying to work up the courage to actually knock. She was the last person Regina wanted to seeright now and then for her to turn up with two teenagers, well, Emma just knew it wasn't going to go down well.
'Are you going to knock or are we just going to hope she senses us?' Smirked Evie.
'Nah she's too much of a wuss', laughed Raynie.
'Shut up, you don't know how scary she is,' whined Emma as she wrung her hands nervously. She could have sworn she heard two murmurs of 'oh, we do' and 'somethings never change'
It was then that the mayor's big white door swung open and there stood Regina in all of her regal glory looking as intimidating as ever.
'Were you planning on knocking at any point tonight, miss Swan? Or did you just come to admire the woodwork of my front door?' She smirked.
All three sets of eyes snapped to hers and she wondered who the children were and why Emma had brought them here. She didn't have to wait long to find out
Emma took a deep breath, she might as well just get straight to the point.
'I found these kids in the forest and they said they came from a time portal and they're from the future. I'm rubbish with magic as you know and well I know you hate me but you're the only person I could think of to help,' she rushed out.
Regina lips twitched at Emma's rambling before she caught herself and shifted her face into her usual blank mask. She was still annoyed at the saviour for ruining her only other chance at a half-decent relationship. Robin might have been dull, clingy and sometimes annoying but he was her soulmate and she would have probably learned to love him if she had beengiven the chanceto do so.
Time travel was not really possible here unless you used dark rituals, that included stealing someone's heart, courage, brain and newborn baby. And it wasn't like she had those things just lying around. She didn't know how Emma expected her to fix this, but it couldn't hurt to get the full story.
'You better come in,' she sighed as she held open the door until all three of her visitors had passed the threshold and then escorted them into the study.
'Tell me what happened from the beginning', she said, as she sat on the sofa. The twins both moved to take a seat opposite her, and to her shock, Emma sat right beside her.
The twins shifted uncomfortably, and Regina noted they both looked nervous and were avoiding eye contact. There was also something familiar about them and that spiked the mayor's curiosity. She was about to demand they speak when Emma got there before her.
She smirked with a raised eyebrow. 'Any time tonight would be great'.
Raynie huffed 'there isn't much to tell, I made a mistake and accidentally sent us back eighteen years instead of eighteen minutes,'
'She crashed our parent's car. Even though I told her not to drive it in the first place,' added Evie.
Raynie glared at her sister as she shoved her hard 'you're such a snitch, Evie! of all the things for you to inherit, it had to bet hat one,' she spat.
Evieshoved her twin right back 'At least I'm not an immature brat,' she shot back.
The twins had only been in her house for a short while, but Regina was already developing a headache. 'Enough,' she yelled.
Emma watched in amusement as both girls instantly stopped fighting and snapped their mouths shut.
'Maybe you should start by telling us thespell-' started Regina more calmly but she was interrupted when a phone started ringing.
Raynie's face turned to one of horror as she pulled her phone out of her pocket, and looked at the caller ID, 'Oh Shit, it's Mom,' she squeaked as she tossed the phone away from her and onto the table.
'Um, shouldn't you, like, answer it? she might be able to help get you home,' said Emma.
'No!' Both girls shouted at once.
'And why not?' asked Regina suspiciously. Something wasn't adding up here, and she wanted to know what.
The twins breathed out asigh of relief as the phone stopped ringing but it was short-lived because it rang again almost instantly.
Regina watched as the twins fidgeted nervously, but did not attempt to answer the phone. She let it ring for another minute before she snatched it up off the table, she pressed the answer button and then the speaker button.
Evie and Raynie froze, unable to do anything as they watched Regina answer their phone. Oh no, this was going to be so bad. They then watched the colour from her face as the voice on the other end spoke.
'Raynie, you have exactly ten minutes to get back home. You are in so much trouble. I don't understand what your thought process was when you decided it would be a good idea to drive the car.' came Regina's furious voice.
Emma gawked at the phone and watched Rayniejump out of her seat and stab her finger at the red button while Evie covered her face with her hands
'You're my children?' Croaked Regina. Her hands were trembling had her legs felt like jelly. She needed to sit back down.
Evielifted her head and tried for a smile. 'Yes, we are. Our names are, Raynie and Evanna. We are fourteen and we're also twins'
Regina stood up and started frantically pacing. 'This is impossible', she muttered.
'Well, obviously it's not because we're right here' snapped Raynie.
Regina stopped pacing and glared at Raynie 'You are lying, this must be some kind of trick' she rounded on Emma 'are you responsible for this? Haven't you ruined my life enough?' She spat angrily.
Emma's posture instantly turned defensive as she stood up, 'that's not fair, Regina, I've never seen these kids before in my life! Do you really think I would bring them here just to pretend to be your children from the future? For what? A laugh! Do you honestly think that little of Me?' She fumed.
Regina's lip curled into a snarl and she moved herself right into Emma's personal space. 'Yes, saviour, I do! You've been nothing but a thorn in my side since you got here. First, you try and steal my son. Then you accuse me of murder before your mother killed my mother, and then you break up my relationship by bringing my soulmate's wife back from the past'
Emma let out a humourless laugh. 'Henry is our son! Your mother literally pretended to be you and faked Archie's murder, I only went off the evidence I saw. I don't agree with what my mother did but Cora would have killed us all and you know it. I didn't mean to break up you and Robin, I had absolutely no idea that the woman I saved from your dungeon was his wife, come to think of it I wasn't even aware that you and Robin were that serious. I think you're forgetting the time that I literally stopped a mob for lynching you, or when I saved you from the wraith or how about the time I helped you stop the trigger so you wouldn't die-' Emma was cutoff from her very angry Rant when the phone on the table rang again.
Regina immediately snatched it up as she put it on speaker again, much to the twin's dismay.
'Evie?' came Regina's voice again, this time a little less furious than it was before.
Evie sighed. She couldn't ignore her mom. She wasn't like Raynie and she didn't like being in trouble.
'Yes, mom?' She answered.
'Where are you and where is your sister?' Questioned future, Regina.
Evie nudged her twin and Raynie sighed before she answered. 'I'm here, mom,' she said
'You are grounded young lady, You better get back home this instant,' ordered Regina.
'Um, well you see mom, we're kind of in the past'
There was a tense silence for a few seconds until future Regina's voice filtered through the phone once more, it was low and dangerous and both the twins and Emma shivered.
'And how far back into the past are you exactly?'
Regina watched as the twins looked awkwardly at each other, clearly at a loss as to how to respond. She still couldn't believe that those were her kids, but there was absolutely no denying it was her voice.
'We went back eighteen years,' Evie finally answered.
There was some shuffling on the other end and another voice could be heard but itwas muffled and the occupants of Regina's study couldn't make it out properly.
'I will call you back,' said future Regina before the line went dead.
'So, do you still think we're lying?' Asked Rainey with a cheeky grin that was familiar to Regina, she just couldn't pinpoint where she had seen it before.
Regina thought about the question. She wanted to believe it. she had always wanted more children but because of the potion she consumed in the enchanted forest, there was absolutely no way that it was possible. And if by some miracle it had happened, then did that mean that Robin was their father? Or had Regina met someone else in the future, or perhaps she had adopted them.
She looked over at the twins again and studied them. She was certain they had her nose and lips, so adoption probably wasn't the answer, and their chin looked awfully familiar as well.
'Who is your father?' She questioned.
The girls turned to each other and smirked, 'we haven't got a father,' said Raynie matter-of-factly.
'Are you adopted?' Inquired Emma curiously.
'No' answered Evie, simply.
'What, so you just don't know who your father is?'
Regina turned to Emma sharply 'and just what exactly are you trying to insinuate miss swan?' She growled.
'We just don't have a dad ok? It's no big deal,' said Raynie with a roll of her eyes, but the adults ignored her, both too caught up in each other.
'I wasn't trying to insinuate anything Regina, I just assumed they were probably yours and Robins kids. He's your soulmate right?'
Regina noticed the hint of bitterness in Emma's tone and it threw her off for a moment. She stared at her quizzically wondering what it was all about before she shook it off. 'Yes, but then you brought his wife back!' She hissed.
Emma was about to reply when the phone rang again. Regina quickly answered it and put it on speaker. She wanted to know more about these children who were apparently hers.
'Evie ,Raynie?' Came future Regina's voice again.
'Yes, mom' answered the twins in perfect unison.
'I need you to tell me exactly what happened' she informed.
Raynie fidgeted nervously 'Well, um-' she started but she was cut off abruptly by her twin.
'Raynie thought it would be a brilliant idea to show me what Gramps had taught her when she stayed over. I told her she shouldn't drive the car without adult supervision but she didn't listen. She didn't even get out of the driveway before she crashed it into the garage door, and then she tried to go back in time eighteen minutes so it wouldn't have happened but we ended up back eighteen years instead'
They heard future Regina let out an exasperated sigh 'I told your mother it was a stupid idea. I'm going to kill her' she seethed.
'Oh, come on mom, it wasn't her fault,' said Raynie.
Emma was surprisedat the word 'mother' and she turned to Regina, 'Huh, I didn't know you liked women'
'Emma?' Came a voice from the phone and Emma noted it was the softest tone Regina had ever used with her and it made her feel all tingly inside.
She cleared her throat 'um, yeah. Hi!' She said awkwardly, and future Regina chuckled deeply.
'Hello dear,' she purred. Regina could hear the smirk in her voice and it irritated her.
'Enough! Do you know how to get them home?' she snapped, as she moved towards the phone. It sounded like her future self was flirting with Emma and she didn't like it.
'Oh, that's weird. I guess you've met our children then?' Spoke her future self.
'Yes, Miss Swan found them in the forest and brought them to me but I must admit I have no idea how to send them home'
'Are they too much for you already?' Teased her future self.
'No, they've been... fine but I imagine you, I mean me and their' she paused for a moment before swallowing 'other mother, are missing them'
Future Regina laughed and said, 'you mean you haven't figured it out yet?'
'Figured what out?' asked Regina confused.
'No, she hasn't, she has no idea,' chimed in Raynie
'Hmm, well it's probably going to come as quite the shock,' mused Future Regina.
'Yeah, im not sure she's going to take it very well,' Evie added with a hint of worry.
Emma caught on. 'Oh, are you talking about who her wife is? It can't be that bad. I mean her taste in men is questionable but im sure she has better taste in women', she teased as Regina looked about five seconds away from setting her on fire.
'Oh it's definitely not bad, in fact, I don't think I could have chosen anyone better, she is perfect for us. I'm very much as in love with her now as I was nineteen years ago probably even more so! I just know where Regina is in her liferight now and im not sure it's something she'll be able to handle,'
Regina was furious, they were talking about her as if she wasn't there and they thought she was too unstable to handle who her future wife was goingto be? That was absolutely absurd! She would never have chosen her if it wasn't someone she wanted to be with. Although no one was crossing her mindright now...unless, No! That notion was even more ridiculous than finding out she had children.
'Just tell me who it is!' She demanded.
There was a few seconds of silence before future Regina spoke again. 'I'm going to tell you, Regina, but you should keep your drama to a minimum, Ok? I mean it, no fireballs or murder threats.
'Geez' snorted Emma 'you're going on like she's married to someone she hates right now,'
Regina looked at her and her stomach flipped 'Oh my God,' she shrieked she stood up and gaped at Emma.
It was the twins turn to snort, ' I think she just figured it out'
Emma didn't have a clue who they were talking about 'figured what out? Who is it?'
Evieopened her mouth to speak up, but she promptly snapped it shut, as another, very familiar voice filtered through the phone.
'Hey, baby, how is my beautiful wife tonight? Did you miss me?' Came the voice of Future Emma Swan and it was followedby a kissing noise.
Present Emma gasped in shock 'Oh my fucking god, it's me' she turned to Regina who was pale-faced and trembling. 'i'm your fucking wife' she finished dumbfounded.
'Um, Regina, I'm not trying to freak you out or anything, but my voice is coming from your phone and I'm right here' pointed out future Emma.
'Hi Ma' shouted Raynie.
'Raynie? Where are you? Where is your sister? Gina, what's going on?' She fired off.
'I'm here too Ma' Smiled Evie.
'Darling, the twins have gotten themselves into a spot of trouble. Your daughter decided to show your other daughter her brilliant driving skills that your father taught her and she crashed your bug into the garage door. She then tried to go back in time eighteen minutes but went back eighteen years instead,an-' future Regina started to explain.
'You crashed my bug?Raynie! You are so grounded for life!' exclaimed future Emma.
'Emma!' Scolded future Regina 'Did you miss the part where I said they're stuck in the past? I told you it was a stupid idea to let David teach her, or have you forgotten about what happened with Henry?'
Future Emma sighed 'well, it was nineteen years ago, Gina, so yeah kind of,'
Present Emma and Regina were still too stunned to speak. The whole thing was super weird. They were marrie in the future and they sound so happy. Neither of them had any idea how they possiblycould have gotten to that point.
'You know, Ma, Mom didn't actually say which daughter crashed your car and I think it's unfair how you automatically assumed it was me,' huffed Rainey.
'Nice try, kiddo, but there's no way Evie would even attempt that without out mine or your mom's approval, and she didn't stay over at Gramps at the weekend only you did,' laughed future Emma.
Evie stuck her tongue out at her twin and Raynie shoved her in the chest with unexpected force. 'Ow, Ray not so hard!' she whined.
'Raynie Cleo Swan-Mills, you're already in enough trouble as it is. Stop hitting your sister. Also, you can kiss Amber's party goodbye,' scolded future Regina.
'That's not fair, Ma tell her! I have to go to that party, literally, everyone is going,' complained Raynie.
'Gina,maybe-'
'No, Emma. You're far too soft on her. She needs to learn that her actions have consequences. Missing one party isn't going to kill her. Now girls go into the den, we need to speak to our present selves,' ordered future Regina.
The girls did as theywere toldand as soon as the door shut, future Regina spoke again.
'Are you two ok? I know it must be a shock to find out that you're married. But, I promise it will all make sense soon'
Present Emma turned to look at Regina, the mayor still hadn't said anything, it looked like she was deep in thought and Emma wasn't sure she had heard a word of what had been said. She extended her hand and placed it on Regina's arm. She had been thinking about everything she had learned about her future, and she found that she wasn't even a little bit disappointed to find out that Regina would eventually be her wife. She has had a crush on her ever since Neverland. She had planned on asking her out but then Pans cruse happened and by the time things settled down again Regina had started dating Bird Boy, so she had agreed to date Killian. it wasn't like they were serious they hadn't even slept together, and Emma wasn't sure she even wanted to.
When Regina suddenly felt Emma's soft touch she jerked her arm away and snapped her eyes up to the blondes face. She didn't say anything as she studied her. This was the woman she was going to marry and have children with. Beautiful children, with her nose and lips and Emma's chin and dimples, and none of it seemed real. She really didn't understand how it was possible. Two women being able to create a life together was unheard of even in the magical world.
'Who gave birth to the twins?' She croaked.
'We did' came future Regina's simple answer.
'Hmm, yeah you looked so sexy pregnant' complimented future Emma.
'No, thats impossible,' muttered present Regina.
'It might seem like it now, but trust me Regina it happens and it's incredible,' responded future Regina and the smile was very present in her voice.
'But we took the potion and there isn't an antidote, I've checked!' She snapped back.
'Regina, Those are your kids! Yours and Emma's, and I know you know im telling the truth. I understand it must be difficult to take in with how things are between you at the minute. Emma's just brought Marion back, yes?'
'Oh, shit, that is so not a good time for us! no wonder they're freaking out. We haven't even kissed yet and I'm still with Hook,'
Present Emma eventually found her voice. 'Hey, I am not freaking out and what's wrong with hook?' she heard Regina scoff and turned to glare at her.
Future Regina made a disgusted noise 'He's a chauvinistic pig and you're far too good for him,'
'Aww, baby, you're so cute when you're jealous,' teased future Emma.
'I am not, also I'm not jealous. I know I'm much better than he is,'
'Yes, and Much better in bed too,' agreed future Emma.
Both present Emma and Regina blushed in embarrassment at past Emma's words, but they both found themselves thinking about what it would be like to sleep together, and not for the first time, either.
'How are we going to get the children back home?' Questioned present Regina.
'They're a handful, right?' Chuckled future Emma.
'No! They're fine Miss swan. I just don't want to mess up the timeline,' replied present Regina.
'Oh, my god! She called me Miss Swan. You don't call me that unless I'm in trouble,'
'You will be in trouble if you don't tell your father not to allow Raynie to drive his truck anymore. And as for the children, we will come and collect them tomorrow night,' answered future Regina.
'So, time travel is easy in the future?' Inquired present Emma.
'Yes, and don't worry about messing up the timeline. It will reset itself once we're back in the future,' informed future Regina.
'So we won't remember anything?'
'Unfortunately not'
'Good,' sighed present Regina.' that's good.'
'Um, yeah. It's really good' added present Emma.
'Well, this is kinda awkward,' sniggered future Emma.
'And how exactly would you react if you had just been told that you married and had children with the woman who just ruined your relationship?'
'You told me you didn't even like Robin that much and that wasn't why you were mad! Well, I have to tell you, you sound pretty annoyed about it right now, ' grumbled future Emma to her Regina.
'I didn't Darling, he was dull, and clingy and absolutely not right for me. You however, are everything I always wanted, and well, you have skills that he could only dream he possessed.' Future Regina flirted.
'Hmm, yeah you do love that thing I do with my tounge, I Cant imagine Birdman even knew what a G-spot was' Laughed future Emma.
'Excuse me, I am right here you know. Well, My husband doesn't complain and he also told me I'm very fun ' came future Robin's laughing voice through the phone.
'Shut up, Robbie! We both know that's only because you sat in on the sex talk that We gave Henry, And he doesn't have a G-spot. Also why are you here? ' teased future Emma.
'Ha! My best friend is so hilarious. It's poker night.. don't tell me you forgot,' he teased back.
'Oh, my god! Bird Boy is my best friend?' Asked the dumbfounded present Emma.
'This is ridiculous! Next, you'll be telling us that Captain Guyliner is our baby sitter' snarked present Regina
They heard deep a chuckle. 'Not quite, your majesty but I am your children's godfather,' came future Killian voice.
'Hey! I'm their godfather too', huffed future Robin while future Killian and Emma laughed.
'Seriously? That is fucked up,' pointed out present Emma.
'That's enough! you two, get back in the den. Emma will be through shortly. I'm sure Henry and the others will play a few games until she's finished,' dismissed future Regina.
'I know it sound strange now but Robin and Killian are good friends of ours and they adore all of our children. We're eighteen years in the future and a lot has changed.', future Regina spoke again.
'She right, they've been amazing to us and we couldn't have picked better men to be our children's godfathers. Hunter wants to be a pirate and-'
'Emma! I told you not to mention the other kids,' sighed future Regina.
Present Emma's eyes went wide 'There's more of them?' She sputtered.
'What? No you didn't'
'I did, I texted you'
'Just shut up and tell us about our other children,' demanded present Regina.
'Well, um, there's Hunter. He's six and then we have another set of twins, a girl and a boy. Jayda and Jayce, they're nearly two,' stated future Emma.
'We have two sets of twins!' Exclaimed present Regina, bewildered.
'Jesus christ, don't we have a TV?' present Emma gasped.
'Yeah, well, like I said, the sex is mind-blowing and we can't help it if we want to jump each others bone all the time,'
'Very eloquently put, my dear. She's right though, even after sixteen years of marriage, our sex life is still as exciting as it was when we first got together,' Chuckled future Regina.
There was a knock at the study door and once Regina gave her permission for them to enter, Raynie and Evie passed the threshold.
'We're tired, so we're going to head to bed. I'm assuming mom and ma aren't collecting us until tomorrow,' said Evie.
'That's right dear and Raynie, you better behave,' warned future Regina.
'I will, you're much more scary in the past. Also, you never told us you used to have a thing with uncle Robbie, that's gross mom,' cringed Raynie.
'Yes, well, it was a long time ago. Myself and Robin are happily married to the loves of our lives, now go to bed,' commanded future Regina.
'I love you, my little cygnets. Goodnight'
'We love you both, goodnight' said the twins simultaneously.
'Goodnight. I will make breakfast tomorrow,' informed present Regina.
'Goodnight kiddo's' added present Emma.
And with that, the twins left the study and headed to bed.
'Would you like a drink Miss Swan?' Asked present Regina as she moved from the sofa to the bar.
'Yeah, that would be nice, thank you,' Smiled present Emma.
Regina made the drinks and then moved back to the sofa and handed one to Emma. Emma smiled again and Regina found herself staring right into her eyes and it made her breathless. She really was gorgeous. She had noticed before of course, her attraction to Emma and there was one point that she thought maybe they could be a family, her, Emma and Henry but then the pirate came along, and Emma started dating him and it hurt her more than she would ever admit so she practically threw herself at Robin for a distraction. Then Robin went back to his wife. Emma was still with captain stupid and she was alone again. And now she finds out that she actually does get the girl, but she has to wait a few years. She was startled out of her thoughts by her future self's voice.
'We should probably go to, but we'll see you both tomorrow.'
She blushed and ducked her head when she realised that she had been just staring at Emma for five minutes.
Emma smirked at Regina's adorable blush before she answered her future wife.
'Yeah, okay. Well, it was, um, nice talking to you, I guess?'
'Wow, I forgot how awkward I was back then,' cringed future Emma.
'Darling, you are still that awkward. I just find it endearing these days.' Chuckled future Regina.
'I love you, Mrs Swan-Mills'
'I love you too, my dear.'
'Right, that's enough! Goodbye,' said Regina before she pressed the red button and ended the call.
Regina and Emma sat in silence for a while, both trying to get their heads around all the information they had learned. They kept stealing glances at each other and then blushing when they got caught.
It was at least ten minutes later when Emma couldn't stand the silence any longer. She cleared her throat and began to speak.
'How weird was that, huh? She chuckled.
'Yes, I still find it hard to believe I married you,' replied Regina.
'Yeah, me too, like, I haven't ever even thought about kissing you,' she lied.
'No, me either,' Regina lied back.
'What like never?'
'Absolutely not! Have you?'
'Well, no!... okay, maybe once,' admitted Emma bashfully.
'Yes, me too! But I certainly haven't thought about sleeping with you,' scoffed Regina.
'Neither have I!'
'Good! I'm not sure I believe you, though,' teased Regina with a smirk.
'Well, it not like I believe you either,' Emma smirked back.
'Fine! Since you're being such a drama queen about it... It may have crossed my mind for all of one second earlier.'
'It was only a half a second for me!'
'It's not like it would be any good.'
'That's not the impression I got from our future selves'
'Yes, well... they could be lying,' suggested Regina.
'True' conceded Emma.
'We won't know unless we try it ourselves.'
'Right... so shall we go upstairs?' Grinned Emma as she moved into Regina space.
'I think that would be wise,' whispered Regina as she stared at Emma's lips before leaning in and capturing them in her own. Emma responded to the kiss passionately and wasted no time in deepening it. They both moaned as their tounges met, and it was then that they understood exactly what their future selves had been talking about.
'for research purposes, obviously' panted Regina once they pulled back.
'Yes, your majesty,' Replied Emma breathlessly as she grabbed Regina's hand and lead her towards the stairs.
Neither of them mentioned that they wouldn't be able to remember their night together once the twins went home.
And hours later, as they were both basking in the aftermath of a very pleasurable sex marathon, they shared asmile, knowing that whatever happened in the eighteen years between now and then, it would be more than worth it. Especially if it meant they both got the family, they had always dreamed of.
