Molten eyes the color of burning ambers flashed angrily while taking in the sight before them.Thick locks of ivory white fell in a veil against a tanned youthful face; frozen in slumberous bliss. Pointed dog ears flopped against their head in matching colors as his hair. A gentle wind swirled through the clearing rippling against the red fabric that hung from the young man's pinned form. Roots wrapped around his legs and chest, effectively keeping his body in its upright position, with the sacred roots coming to curl around the aged wood of a single arrow. It had been that single arrow that sealed the body in this eternal slumber.
Across from the sleeping youth stood a man, glaring at the boy. Nearly identical silver hair flowed down his back against the billowing white silk of his clothing mixing with the fur that rest over a shoulder. His face a stoic mask of indifference giving no signs as to the rage that all but consumed his icy demonic heart.
'I was hard on you, yes, but only because it is what you needed. And now look at the state that miko has brought upon you,' he growl internally. 'As a hanyou life would be difficult, but to forsake our father's blood by seeking out that cursed relic, it's unforgivable. You could have been powerful, feared even, whatever may have been now forever lost because of that woman. Little brother, I'm disappointed.'
Interrupting his seething was an approaching human, their heavy footfalls bounding against the earth alerting him to their presence before he felt the person's enormous aura. With the spiritual power coming from them, the nomad youkai guessed them to be a miko; untrained from the raging of their power that blanketed the area. But aside from that, this being held no threat to him, and therefore was no interest to him. He was done here anyways, his vassal and steed were waiting on him so that they may continue their search for his sire's fabled sword.
With a final disapproving look at his young brother the taiyoukai was about to leave, intent on avoiding the inevitable screaming that would follow should the woman see him. But a pulse at his side told him to wait; to observe the approaching miko. With a sneer pulling at his smooth features he was ready to ignore the wretched sword left to him by his sire, but the cursed thing only 'yelled' louder and more adamantly in its insistence that he stay.
It was with a heavy sigh, he gave a grunt of agreement, making the sword chime happily before falling silent once more.
Stepping into the shadows created by the foliage within the forest, the youkai hid himself not at all wanting to interact with the miko, he made it a point to avoid humans unless absolutely necessary.
Then the miko came running into that small clearing around the tree. She froze at the sight, bright sapphire eyes wide as she looked on in a mix of awe and horror, before a deep frown pulled on her pink lips. Gripping at her raven hair and looking up at the sky and then back the way she came her eyes became fixated on his brother. She was nothing more than a young girl, barely old enough to be considered a woman, with hideous green clothing that showed an ungodly amount of leg which was most unbecoming of her station, he wanted to leave right then and there but the sword again insisted he stay.
The girl tentatively approached the hanyou, nervous and curious as she looked into his face.
And the demon watching, almost laughed as the girl played with the hanyou's ears, and there would have been a possibility had he not noticed the aura of the cursed arrow shift, pulsing, and his sword rang out again.
Amber eyes widened a fraction, this girl could break the curse and revive his brother.
His eyes darted to the side, a group of villagers were approaching, and from the rattle that accompanied their heavy steps he knew them to be armed.
"Stay away from Inuyasha!" A male roared from the forest, several more echoing his battle cry.
The girl jumped as they emerged from the forest, fear spiking in her scent, showing she did not recognize the villagers. Her reaction was to cower, grabbing onto his brother, an odd behavior in itself.
With the "twang' of a dozen bow strings, he acted on instinct. Drawing forth his youki, it manifested into a glowing tendril of venomous green light, and with a simple flick of his wrist it was sent flying, cutting through the air, disposing of the arrows aimed at the girl with ease.
He stood between the girl and the villagers, their dark eyes trembling at the sight of his youkai glory.
Confused and scared of those that pointed weapons at her, the young girl remained frozen, her fingers clinching the hanyou.
An elderly woman stepped forward. "Child, step away, he be a demon! He will kill you!"
"Were they not the ones to fire upon you," he stated in a flat tone, pushing a strand of hair behind an elfish ear, golden eyes meeting fearful sapphire- what an odd color for a human. "Go with them if you wish," his open invitation implied as he turned his back to the aged miko fully confident the girl would follow.
wolfYLady: This is a story idea I have had forever and am finally confident to post. There are a lot of stories I've not completely and it's stems from a lack of confidence in my writing hence why I've waited so long. But I do hope you'll like it as I'd love some input. Thanks for reading. Please Review!
