(A/N: Following the story of Spirits & Swords, I was asked to write another story of Elsa as a goddess. This an alternate look at Elsa as a divine being that will differ greatly from the other story. This will be updated when I have the chance since I have other stories already started and needing to be finished.)
CHAPTER ONE: The Lady on the Sea
It had been years, but Sorenson had finally made his dream come true. Ever since he was little, his father would tell him stories about a beautiful goddess named Elsa who ruled the magical kingdom of ice named Ahtohallan, the birthplace of all magic and strange creatures that have long since been reduced to stuff of myth. Despite what others said about the old tales, Sorenson's father refused to give up faith and kept refuting that what he said was true. All of it. All of Arendelle didn't take him seriously and was known as a strange, old hermit.
Angered by the kingdom's show of disrespect towards his father, Sorenson, a man of science, was determined to finish his father's quest to find Ahtohallan and it's divine queen. If not to restore the families honor, then to discover the real truth behind the stories. Those stories are just for children. They're not true. They merely serve as a symbolic method of teaching children morals and values. That's what people would always tell Sorenson and he would be lying if he said he never doubted his own conviction. He did more times than he could count, but couldn't shake the nagging voice that stood between him and giving up completely. What if you're wrong?
He had to know the truth for himself in order to settle is wandering mind and anxious spirit. He continued his father's research. After years of researching alone in his tall tower of scrolls and books, his diligence and faithfulness to his father's belief when he came into the possession of an ancient map revealing Ahtohallan's location through text that Sorenson believed was not of this world.
"North. We have to go as far north as we can go," Sorenson told King Agnarr and Queen Iduna. Queen Iduna was the only person in the kingdom who supported him and showed any interest. King Agnarr on the other hand laughed and showed no signs of agreeing to Sorenson's request for a special voyage north. "I know you believe me to be a mad man, but if the stories are true, who knows what we could discover. We may be able to find solutions to all our problems. Other sources of food that we have never discovered. Medicinal herbs that can heal any disease-"
King Agnarr sighed and held up a hand to halt the overly eager man. "I see there is no stopping your burning curiosity. Very well, I will give you a ship and the best crew in the Kingdom. I hope you discover something."
That was two weeks ago, Sorenson found himself in the violent and turbulent waves of the dark sea. The crew franticly running to their stations as the captain barks orders. All Sorenson could do is hold onto the center mast as the Captain steered the ship to make sure they were heading north and not being pushed off course by the strong winds and merciless waves crashing into the sides of the ship.
"We have turn back!" the Captain yelled, turning the ship around, greatly intimidated by the gradually growing waves. Sorenson stumbled up to the wheel and struggled to turn it back, "No! We have to keep going We're so close!"
The Captain chided him over the loud winds and waves, "You fool! You'll get us all killed! I will not endanger my crew so we can find an imaginary land!"
"It's real! Only a coward would turn away now!" Sorenson yelled back, pushing the captain onto the deck and turning the ship around. The Captain rushed Sorenson, tackling him onto the desk and tried to turn back, but Sorenson lunged into him again.
"This is mutiny!" the Captain yelled as they wrestled each other for the control of the wheel. "I should throw you overboard! No one in Arendelle would miss a crazy hermit like you!"
"I'm- I'm not- I'm not crazy!" Sorenson snapped, banging the Captain's head against the wheel and knocking him out so he could steer the ship back north as before. I'm NOT crazy! I'm NOT crazy! She's real! Ahtohallan…is real! I know it's real! It has to be! Please, Elsa! Give me a sign! As if the goddess Elsa was rewarding his faith, a crack of thunder erupted and a flash of very bring lightning momentarily blinds him and he hears something among the loud violent roars of the winds and the waves of the Dark Sea.
"Ah Ah Ah Ah!" It seized his attention. The beautiful call of a woman sang perfectly amiss the stormy wrath of Mother Nature. It was calling him North. He was sure of it. If he couldn't see, then he would rely on his ears and his faith and follow the voice. "We're close!" Sorenson yelled to the confused crew, "Don't you hear her! It's her! She's calling us to her!"
"We don't hear anything! What are you talking about?! Who's calling us?!" the voice of one of the crew yelled back down below on the deck.
"ELSA!" Sorenson yelled happily. His father was right. He follows the beautiful, divine voice calling out to him. "I hear you…and I'm coming, Elsa!" His sight returned and he saw a wave higher than anything he had ever seen. The crew shout in fear. There was no where to go and the wave crashed down on the ship, destroying it mercilessly.
Sorenson gasped for air as he swam up to the surface and grabbed a piece of the ship floating. To his horror, the ship was gone, reduced to splinters and the crew dragged down to the depths of the dark sea by the violent, unforgiving waves. That's when Sorenson saw it. His eyes widened with disbelief as his eyes process what he was seeing. There in the distance, among the waves and the darkness that fell from the stormy sky, was a beautiful woman wearing a white dress and her beautiful long blond hair flew to the side majestically from the wind. Sorenson couldn't believe his eyes and reached out to her, "El- Elsa…Elsa."
Suddenly, a bright light erupted from her and he blacked out. When he woke up again, he was on the shores of Arendelle, surrounded by curious people.
"Someone, go inform the King and Queen that Sorenson has returned!" In no time at all, Agnarr and Iduna came eagerly and watched as Sorenson's map landed perfectly on his chest with a warning written angrily in lines of ice. STAY AWAY!
All of them recalled Sorenson's ramblings as he daily insisted the stories of old were real and dread came over them. "Get him into the palace!" Agnarr orders, "Iduna, summon the palace doctor!"
When he woke up, he was so out of it, he could only stare at the ceiling above him as his mind was still where the ship went down. King Agnarr was summoned and Queen Iduna came as well. "Sorenson," King Agnarr called but Sorenson paid him no attention, so terrified by what he witnessed.
King Agnarr lit a match and held it close to Sorenson's face, giving him something to focus on. "What did you see, old man?"
"Elsa. Elsa. Elsa," Sorenson replied back fearfully, his eyes widen with fear and his old voice trembling.
