Release

Arriving at the small village Sesshoumaru felt his eyebrow twitch, the scent of dirty musty humans hung heavy in the air...yet more importantly he finally caught wind of his younger half brother. He was hard pressed to not seek him out and beat the living hell out of him yet he knew he had to be tactful, he knew eyes were always on his person.

Added in was the fact that as much as he assumed to know about the situation going on between his half brother and his wife he knew he had to have all the pieces before he could fully grasp the whole picture. So instead of rushing in and releasing all his pent up frustrations he hid his scent and aura as he moved into the foliage. He quickly tracked his half brother down and found him by the river, shirtless, as he used his claws to cut a tree down into smaller logs.

He looked the same as usual, the only difference was the dark bags under his eyes and the way his normally bright golden orbs seemed to be dimmed a bit. It was clear to see something was weighing heavily on him and he had an inkling as to what it was. He decided to observe a bit more, watching as he cut down yet another log, it was easy to see he was throwing himself into his work and maybe he had planned on sending money back to the miko?

Even so from the way the miko had reacted to finding out she was pupped...something had happened between them that made her think he was not going to be coming back...and even if he had planned on sending money back the fact of the matter was that he had left his woman and pups behind to fend for themselves...

It had caused him a great deal of trouble and annoyance and it was only fair that he finally get to release some of his built up frustration on the source of it. So he let his aura flare to life, smirking a bit as Inuyasha let out a curse and dropped the log he had in surprise.

"Sesshomaru!" As always he was loud, his voice yelling at him as he jumped back and assumed a defensive stance, at least he was learning to no longer just rush in like a fool.

Eyes cold he stared down at his half brother, enjoying the way his scent churned with a hint of fear and apprehension. "Inuyasha." His voice was cold and chipped and it made the hair on the back of Inuyasha's neck stand up.

He had no idea why his older half brother was all the way out here, it was on the border of the western lands, and as far as he knew the prick had never really made it a habit to patrol this far away from the western stronghold.

So why the hell was he here, glaring at him like he wanted to tear him to pieces? Sure he was used to the glares and looks of contempt but he had assumed they had moved past that, they weren't on the best of terms but they were cordial to each other, hell he had even come to his wedding!

His heart lurched at the thought of his wedding, of Kagome, sweet happy smiling Kagome dressed in her white silks... The image in his head quickly changed to her broken hearted face as tears streamed down her face. Her arms wrapped around herself as she let out a low sob that shook him to his core.

Shoving the thoughts away he glared at his brother, holding on to the anger like he used to. He wrapped it around him and felt its familiar and comforting weight settle around him. "The hell do you want?"

Sneering down at the angry whelp he could only feel disappointment, it was clear to see he had reverted to his ways before he had met the Miko... such a pity. Instead of speaking he merely launched himself at his half brother, his fist colliding with his face. A solid crunch echoed in the air as his blood sprayed in the air, the sight and scent of it made him feel better.

Inuayash grunted as he dug his heels into the dirt to keep himself from flying back, a hand rushing up to hold his broken nose, blood seeping from between his fingers. "Da fuck! You bastard!" With that he launched himself at his older half brother.

The two were nothing but claws and snarls as they tore into each other, yet for every hit that Inuyasha managed to land, Sesshoumaru landed three. Sesshoumaru's blood sung as he let out his anger and frustration, finally he could give the boy his beating and hopefully impart on him a very important lesson.

One did not simply abandon their pack, ever. Their father had and look what it had cost him? Them?

Inuyasha could barely see out of his eyes, both of them were swollen shut as he was knocked back onto the ground, his chest heaving as he tried to breath through the blood pooling in his lungs. Rolling over to rest on his elbows he spit out some blood, glaring up at his half brother as he glared coolly down at him.

Not a goddamn hair was out of place and it irritated him yet his body wouldn't listen to him and move. He hated when anyone looked down at him, even more so when it was that cold prick, all his life he had been looking down at him and right now he was not in the best of places to deal with it.

Glaring down at his half brother Sesshoumaru felt his anger cool down to a simmer, the broken look that swam in the depths of the whelp's eyes made him falter, deciding that the whelp had enough he took a step back, his body stance lax. Now it was time to get to the bottom of things so they could all move forward.

"Why have you left the miko alone?" His voice was even as he spoke, not at all relaying any kind of emotion.

Inuyasha felt his ears pin themselves to the top of his head in shame, he knew someone would catch on eventually, he had assumed it would be Miroku or Sango. Not his estranged if not murderous older half brother. Even so, now that the question had been asked he realized that he so badly had to tell someone, anyone, so why not his older half brother?

"I-I really fucked up...everything was going fine, we were enjoying being married...but when I...I called out Kikyou's name...it crushed her. I didn't mean to...it just slipped out." His voice was layered with shame and in Sesshouamru's opinion it was well deserved.

If the whelp was not ready to move past his feelings for the dead miko then why had he allowed the Miko Kagome to believe he was? It was a truly foolish and selfish thing to do. It would seem he was more like their father then any of them had ever thought...

Even so he knew that since Inuyasha had fled the very night of the conception of the pup he had no idea that she was pupped so he mused he would take pity on him and tell him. Hopefully it would be the kick in the ass that he needed to get his head on right and return to the Miko.

"She is with pup, return to her and do your duty." His voice had a layer of anger yet it was lost on Inuyasha.

Sesshoumaru's words echoed in his head...Kagome...she was with child...his child...oh god! His breathing picked up as panic set in on him, he...and...she...there was no way he could face her...nor their child...He had hoped that by fleeing in the dark of the night she would be able to get over him and move on and now...now she would always have a reminder of him...of his inability to let go of the past...

A low whine escaped him, it was a strangled sound and it made Seshoumaru's hackles rise.

"I-I can't I can't ever go back there's no way...I-" He was cut off by a low guttural snarl that made his hair stand on end, his fight or flight response flaring to life.

Sesshomaru had never been so disgusted by his younger half brother then he was at that very moment. "You are a disgrace to our bloodline. If you refuse to do what is right then I will step up and do right by the miko Kagome." His words were his vow and as he glared down at his half brother he could only stare in disgust as he backed away and turned his back on him to flee.
